Chapter 36: Her Turn To Cook

Due to her injury, Ye Qiyi returned to the country early but she definitely would not be able to film anything within a short period of time because of her leg. However, she had waited for a first-rate movie like this for so many years and therefore, she did not want to give up. During the few times that she called the director team over the phone, she hoped that they could extend the filming period. Unfortunately, this youth-themed movie was in a rush to air over the summer vacation, so as to attract box office earnings from students.

As a result, on Ye Qiyi’s third phone call to them, the other side informed her that they had already chosen their actor.

At that time, Ye Qiyi’s heart skipped a beat—they had already chosen so quickly? Didn’t they say that they had wasted two years to choose this female lead in the beginning? After much difficulty did they finally select a suitable person, yet this issue was resolved so quickly?

Ye Qiyi could not believe it until the media announced the news. Filled with fiery anger within her heart upon seeing Ye Mu’s face, that fire slowly rose up.

“How can it be her?” Ye Qiyi lay on the bed, holding onto the remote control with her forehead wrinkled tightly.

She could no longer hear what was being said on the television and she suddenly threw the remote control in her hand, “How can it be her!”

Was it possible that the whole team of directors really couldn’t pick anyone else? Of all people, why was it Ye Mu! Why!

The film’s press conference had just ended when Ye Mu sneezed uncontrollably.

“Are you alright?” Ji An even thought that Ye Mu had caught a cold and she hurriedly handed her a tissue. Ye Mu’s future prospect was currently bright as a spotlight, so she had to treat her like a treasure.

Ye Mu shook her head and took the tissue from Ji An, smiling gratefully, “I’m alright, thank you.”

“If you aren’t feeling well, go back early to rest.” Ji An was still looking at Ye Mu with plenty of concern. She couldn’t afford to have a problem with her body right now.

Ye Mu looked at Ji An apologetically, “If I just leave like this, will it be fine?”

“It’s fine, go,” Ji An spoke assuredly and patted Ye Mu on the shoulder.

After receiving such a reply from Ji An, Ye Mu left at ease. Since today was her first time dealing with this kind of press conference, she was indeed somewhat exhausted.

As Ye Mu had accidentally seen Mo Shen’s identity card recently, she knew that he was going to have his birthday soon. In the past few days, she had been learning how to cook to prepare a surprise for Mo Shen.

On her way back, she bought some vegetables as per usual.

Mo Shen worked till very late at night so Ye Mu looked at the recipe book for a whole afternoon before trying her hand at it that night.

For Ye Mu, who was preparing a meal for the first time, cooking three dishes and a soup took her more than three hours. Although there was a bit of problem in the process, she still served them to the table smoothly.

Look at the whole table of dishes, Ye Mu sighed deeply. Since this was the first time she had made so much food in her life, she specially took her phone to take a picture of it.

Sitting at the side of the dining table, she lifted her hand to look at her watch while waiting for Mo Shen to return.

When the clock reached 10 o’clock, Mo Shen finally returned. Slightly sleepy, Ye Mu hurriedly stepped forward, “You’re back. Why are you so late today?”

“Why aren’t you sleeping yet?” Mo Shen removed his coat and looked at Ye Mu with a frown.

Ye Mu went up to help and took his jacket from him while smiling, “I made some food for you. Eat it quickly, or else it’ll get cold.”

The hand tugging on his tie stiffened and Mo Shen looked at Ye Mu with raised brows, seemingly unconvinced, “You cooked?”

Mo Shen knew that Ye Mu could not cook.

“Of course, I’m learning how to.” Hearing Mo Shen’s question, Ye Mu raised her head proudly.

Mo Shen smiled a little and he sat down at Ye Mu’s signal. His pair of calm eyes wandered around the food—he could no longer see exactly what the food on the table was.

“Try some. Don’t you like spicy food? This is mapo tofu…” Ye Mu sat down too and offered it to Mo Shen enthusiastically.

The mapo tofu that Ye Mu had cooked was very strange—it wasn’t soft tofu but rock-solid.

Mo Shen checked out the tofu sandwiched between the chopsticks, took a bite and then, became speechless.

He kept on chewing but did not give any comment for a long while.

Although Mo Shen was so handsome—that he made it hard for people to look away—even when he ate, Ye Mu truly wanted to know how the food tasted and asked in anticipation, “How is it? Is it delicious?”

“Mhmm…” Mo Shen nodded and swallowed the food, before giving her a definitive answer.

The smile on Ye Mu’s face deepened and she confidently grabbed a piece of tofu, “I’m a true genius.”

But as soon as the food entered her mouth, Ye Mu’s expression changed in an instant and she choked harshly, before spitting it out swiftly.

“Cough cough cough…” She quickly felt around for a cup and drank the water. Her tears were on the brink of falling as she choked. It seemed that she had put too much ground pepper, “It tastes so terrible… How is it delicious…”

Spinning around, she frowned at Mo Shen. Her face was still full of disgust towards her own food.

Due to the spiciness, Mo Shen’s eye sockets were slightly red but he continued eating with a faint smile, “No, I think that it’s really delicious.”

“It definitely isn’t…” Biting her lips, Ye Mu glared at Mo Shen.
