Chapter 29: Found Him

Beth stood next to Nina, wanting to comfort her but not knowing what to say.
Moreover, she was feeling a mix of emotions.
She was especially upset when she heard them say, “Eddie is Marion’s little sidekick” and that “they were brought here by Eddie”.
So that was how the main characters of these gatherings saw her.
Beth regretted attending this birthday party.
Beth asked sadly, “Nina, shall we go back first?”
Nina remained where she was. Her ears twitched, picking out different sounds in the noisy bar.
She frowned.
As if on cue, a flurry of footsteps arrived, and six burly men blocked the narrow corridor.
Nina and Beth, who had turned pale, were also blocked outside the door.
On the other side, Cathy and her companions had barely entered the booth and had yet to close the door behind them when they heard the flurry of footsteps.
They turned around and saw several brawny men with unpleasant expressions standing outside the door.
One of the muscular men with a tattoo sleeve asked loudly from the doorway, “Who’s Marion?” He sounded feral.
Marion stood up, stunned. “I’m—”
The man’s eyes glowed dangerously. “Are you the one who fought Bevin in the bathroom earlier?”
Everyone in the booth immediately understood what was going on.
Marion had just fought someone in the bathroom, and now they were coming for him.
Marion looked at the six burly men across him. They were all muscular, and it was obvious that they were not to be trifled with. He felt a little afraid.
However, he did not want to appear too weak after bragging to his friends.
After some thought, Marion said, “Buddy, that person hit one of our female companions first. It’s not too much for me to teach him a lesson, right?”
The tough man replied coldly, “It doesn’t matter. As long as you were the one who hit him, come with us. My boss wants you to go over.”
Marion stiffened and glanced at Joel. After all, this was caused by his woman.
Joel stubbed out his cigarette and stood up. “Buddy, I’m Joel, from The Partners. If you know me, can you just give me some face and let this go?”
“It’s up to our boss to let this go or not. I’m just here to bring you over. If you don’t come with us, don’t blame me for being rude.” The man waved his hand, signaling his partner to grab Marion.
The young men and women in the booth became nervous.
Marcus stood and said, “Fine. We’ll go with Marion. I’ll talk to your boss directly.”
If they didn’t leave with the men, they definitely would have started a fight now. However, all the weaklings in the booth, whose bodies had been drained from alcohol and sex, were no match for these brawny men.
The other party looked obviously well-trained.
If he met their boss and revealed his identity to them, there might still be a chance to salvage the situation.
After all, the gang that Marcus and Joel were in had some fame. One of them was a sub-chief, while the other was a capable deputy of the boss, Henry. If these men were from the underworld, they would still have to give them some face.
Upon hearing that they agreed to go over, the other party did not resort to violence. They turned around and walked out of the booth.
Joel asked, “What should we do? Should we send some people over?” However, it would take at least half an hour for their people to get here from the east.
Before Marcus could respond, Marion straightened his neck and said, “What’s there to be afraid of? That fatty that I beat up sounds like a foreigner. What power can he have here? At most, it’ll just be a few local bosses. We have so many people. Why should we be afraid of him?”
One of the reasons Marion said this was to retain his pride and not appear weak. Another reason was to involve everyone present in it and give him courage.
