Chapter 32: Cooking Noodles

Qu Ling’er was completely stupefied—she felt her heart stop and her face hot. She hurriedly took a few steps back and stammered, “I-I’m sorry…”

The feeling in his arms disappeared and Luo Yichen was a little disappointed. However—seeing how nervous Qu Ling’er was—he said calmly, “I don’t bite. Why are you so afraid?”

“Huh?” Qu Ling’er looked up at him. “No, I’m not afraid. I just feel apologetic…”

Luo Yichen patted her on the head and said, “Little klutz.”

Qu Ling’er felt like a pet and immediately said, “I… I’ll go out first…”

She ran around Luo Yichen to get out of the bedroom, and into the living room. Being so close to Luo Yichen made her feel uncomfortable. It was overwhelming being in the same space with a top celebrity.

Qu Ling’er tried to calm down by drinking some water; she felt much better after drinking more than half a glass. She turned to look at the clock on the wall—it was almost noon. She hesitated for a moment before walking to Luo Yichen’s bedroom door and asked softly, “Brother, have you eaten lunch?”

Luo Yichen was unpacking his luggage and replied, “No.”

Qu Ling’er asked, “Shall we have noodles for lunch?”

“Okay,” Luo Yichen replied.

Qu Ling’er went to the kitchen at his reply. She had originally planned to just grab a bite somehow; she did not expect Luo Yichen to come back just then.

Qu Ling’er cooked some noodles—with vegetables and meat—and served Luo Yichen a bowl of it.

Luo Yichen took a shower and changed his clothes. When he came out of the bedroom, he saw Qu Ling’er placing the bowl of noodles on the table. He was mesmerized for a moment—it seemed that with her around, this empty house started to feel like a home.

When Qu Ling’er saw Luo Yichen, she smiled and said, “The noodles are ready. Come and eat!”

Luo Yichen nodded and walked towards the dining table.

Qu Ling’er brought out two more side dishes from the kitchen. Seeing that there was only one bowl of noodles, Luo Yichen asked, “Where’s yours?”

“I’ll go get it now. You eat first.” Qu Ling’er turned around and went back to the kitchen.

Luo Yichen picked up his chopsticks and looked at the bowl of noodles in front of him. The noodles looked very appetizing—smell fragrant—they should be delicious. The lass knew quite a lot of things—how to fight, play e-sports, and even cook.

Qu Ling’er took a bowl of noodles and sat opposite Luo Yichen. She noticed that Luo Yichen was holding his chopsticks motionlessly and asked, “Brother, what’s wrong? Does it not taste good?”

“No, I haven’t eaten yet. I was waiting for you.” Luo Yichen only started eating when he saw her sit down.

He took a big slurp of the noodles—it tasted good. He was in a good mood.

Qu Ling’er nervously watched him eat the noodles and asked cautiously, “How is it?”

Luo Yichen swallowed the noodles and said with a smile, “Delicious.”

Qu Ling’er was relieved and began to eat.

Luo Yichen was a little puzzled at seeing her like this. What did he do to make her so flustered? She sat opposite him—farthest away from him. Just then, his cell phone rang. He took it out and saw that it was Assistant Liu’s number. He did not avoid Qu Ling’er and answered it in front of her; he even turned on the speaker.

Assistant Liu asked curiously, “Why did you answer the phone so quickly today?”

“What is it? Speak,” Luo Yichen said as he took a bite of noodles.

Assistant Liu said, “You wouldn’t let me follow you when you got out of the car just now. I was afraid that you needed me. Is there anything you want to eat tonight? I’ll deliver it to you.”

“Can’t you hear me eating?” Luo Yichen slowly chewed on his noodles.

Assistant Liu was shocked and asked, “Didn’t you say that you don’t want to eat lunch? Aren’t you going to lose weight for your new movie?”

Luo Yichen said, “I’ve changed my mind.”

Assistant Liu asked, “What are you eating? Yichen, you can’t eat junk food—that’ll gain weight very easily, you know?”

Luo Yichen looked at the bowl of noodles with vegetables and meat. If Assistant Liu were here, he would definitely scold him to no end. He had not eaten anything healthier than this bowl of noodles in a very long time.

“You meddle too much,” Luo Yichen grumbled.

Assistant Liu pretended to be sad and said, “I’m doing this for your own good, Yichen! I’m your assistant—if I don’t manage your life well, Brother Bai will beat me up! I don’t want to be beaten up. No, I’ll look for you later. You haven’t been home for a few days. I’ll get the housekeeper to clean the house and…”

“No need.” Before Assistant Liu could finish, Luo Yichen decisively refused. “Don’t come over either.”
