By the time the ambulance arrived, the police car had arrived too.

 Tang Xinyan’s pupils shrunk when she saw the police car.

 She had a bad feeling that chilled her heart.

 “Miss Tang, you are suspected of intentional homicide. Please follow us to the police station.”

 Tang Xinyan pursed her red lips and her eyes were cold. “My mother-in-law fell down the stairs herself. I didn’t even touch her.”

 “Captain Zhou, Tang Xinyan is lying. I saw her push my mother with my own eyes!” Fu Sijing stood up and accused Tang Xinyan angrily.

 Tang Xinyan frowned. “Fu Sijing, don’t you dare tell such lies.”

 In the meantime, the doctor and the nurses came with a stretcher. Fu Sichen, who had been holding onto He Meijuan in his arms ever since she fell down the stairs, lifted his head and shot Fu Sijing a strict glare. “Murder is not child’s play, quit your nonsense!”

 Fu Sijing saw that Fu Sichen was not on her side and almost cried out in anger. She stomped her feet and pointed a finger at Tang Xinyan. “She was the one who caused you to get beaten by Dad and even pushed Mom down the stairs but you are still protecting her. Brother, did she drug you or something?”

 Fu Sichen was not protecting Tang Xinyan. He just did not think that she was brave enough to go so far as to try and kill his mother.

 “It’s her…” He Meijuan, who was in Fu Sichen’s arms, opened her eyes slowly. She glanced at Tang Xinyan and muttered weakly, “She was the one who pushed me.”

 Initially, when Tang Xinyan saw that He Meijuan was badly injured, she was worried about her. Now, she realized how ridiculous the whole thing was.

 Tang Xinyan took a deep breath and was about to defend herself. Fu Sichen’s eyes were bloodshot. He raised his hand and gave her a tight slap after he placed He Meijuan onto the stretcher.

 The scorching pain overwhelmed her. Her ears were even buzzing. She could taste blood in her mouth, it tasted like rusty metal.

 That was the first time he had ever slapped her ever since they met each other.

 Frankly, the pain she felt on her face was no match for the disappointment and coldness she felt in her heart.

 Fu Sichen regretted his action immediately after he slapped Tang Xinyan.

 He admitted that he was overwhelmed by anger after he heard his mother claim that Tang Xinyan was the one who pushed her, and that was the reason why he had slapped her.

 He opened his mouth and wanted to say something but he was stunned completely after he saw the freezing cold glare in Tang Xinyan’s eyes.

 That slap only made her hate him even more!

 Tang Xinyan closed her eyes that were flushing red and her face looked calm. She tried her best to hold back her tears.

 The more fragile she was, and the more tears she shed, the happier He Meijuan and the Fu family siblings would be!

 In their eyes, she was just a lowly peasant that was like an ant in the dust.

 Before the police took Tang Xinyan away, she saw some oil stains on He Meijuan’s soles.

 It linked back to the scene where she could not control herself and fell down the stairs. Tang Xinyan finally found out the reason behind that fall.

 She bit her lips and said to the police, “Can I have a few words with Fu Sichen?” She clearly understood that she would never have the chance to come out of the police station without the Fu family’s cooperation even if she reported her findings to the police when she arrived at the police station.

 Fu Sichen brought Tang Xinyan to the garden located at the side of the mansion. His facial expression was complicated. “What else do you have to say?”

 “I did not push your mother. There are oil stains on her shoes and I suspect that someone oiled the staircase. I hope that you can find out the truth and prove that I’m innocent!”

 Tang Xinyan’s attitude was neither supercilious nor obsequious. Fu Sichen’s brown eyes darkened. “Is it true that you did not push my mom?”

 “Yes, I did not.”

 “Alright, I will investigate the truth.”
