Chapter 830: Chapter 347: What the Hell Is an Unexpected Surprise?
Jin Yucheng certainly wasn’t fragile enough to drop dead from being pissed off.
Though, yeah, he was really angry…
But after just about 10 seconds or so, he managed to calm himself down.
“I… it’s… fine…”
He weakly opened his mouth, waved his hand, dismissing the employees crowding around him, and asked Fu Daiheng, “How much is left in the account?”
“Uh…” Fu Daiheng hemmed and hawed, dropped his head in shame, “Less than one million in the account, and a bit over four million in the backend…”
Shit!
Jin Yucheng’s nails nearly dug into his skin. The fire inside his chest, it felt like it could melt the iron rod clamped in someone’s jaws.
“A whole hundred million… Slimmed down to 5 million?”
Fu Daiheng didn’t dare to look up: “Yeah.”
Li Changgeng, one of the partners, was pushed to the front by a few brothers.
“Brother Jin…”
“No need to talk. It’s my responsibility, I admit it!”
“Hey, hey, brother, that’s not what we mean. It’s just that we…”
“Stop. The responsibility I should bear, I will bear. The main question now is, what do you all intend to do?”
Jin Yucheng, after all, had a temperament that wasn’t ordinary. Not only did he calm down quickly, but he still managed to focus on the key points.
Li Changgeng stopped pretending after hearing this and spoke frankly: “Brother Jin, we all know that doing business together isn’t a surefire deal, and everybody’s worked hard to pitch in–from finding venues to finding people, am I right?”
“Hmm.”
Jin Yucheng remained expressionless.
Li Changgeng let out an awkward laugh: “But, you see, losses on this scale… we can’t handle it…”
“So what do you want to do? Back out? Should I repay you guys the money you invested?”
Li Changgeng felt uneasy under Jin Yucheng’s icy stare and turned his head away.
“That depends on what you want to do. Does our company continue operating?”
“Why not?!”
Jin Yucheng’s voice suddenly shot up. “Sure, money’s been lost, but our advertising campaign was a success. After today, is there anyone on the whole internet who doesn’t know about Golden Jade Guild?”
“But how much more money does this mean throwing in next? We’re not as financially strong as you…”
Jin Yucheng was furious and genuinely felt like breaking up the partnership on the spot.
Damn it, when they decided to go all in, they were all so excited, unanimously agreeing, and now they’re flipping the script?
But he couldn’t afford to. He realized he absolutely couldn’t bear the blows dealt by Su Huai. That bastard was way too sinister and ruthless.
He needed allies–desperately.
So he gritted his teeth and owned up to the bill: “Our reputation is already up there. From here on out, we won’t need much operating capital. Here’s the deal: I’ll invest another 20 million, everyone’s shareholding ratios remain unchanged, consider it my apology as an elder brother. How about it? Give me one more chance?”
Hearing that they wouldn’t have to dish out more money, Li Changgeng instantly had no objections.
“Brother, don’t fault us; we’ve never slacked off when you needed us. It’s just that the funds are really tight…”
“We’re all family. No need to mention that.”
Jin Yucheng waved his hand, took this to heart, and casually shifted topics: “Where’s Zhen Ji?”
“Uh…” Fu Daiheng looked back at the screen and said in a dejected tone, “She’s crying over there.”
In the livestream room, Zhen Ji had already crumbled.
On one hand, she didn’t know how to face the current situation, and on the other, the chat box and comments section were unbearably vile. The tidal wave of ridicule and even humiliation was overwhelming.
Newcomers can’t ignore those comments–they’re hardwired to be affected.
But in truth, Yuji herself had a very “queen bee” kind of demeanor and hadn’t made things difficult for her.
“Little sis, the PK battle was between our two guilds, alright? I was useful because of my position; you were less useful because it’s your first day streaming. Win or lose, it’s not on your shoulders. Stop crying.”
Zhen Ji, her eyes drenched in tears, sniffled and thanked her.
But the viewers didn’t care about any of that, instead firing shots more viciously.
“No one who loses over a hundred million Star Coins for the guild has the right to say ‘sorry’! Take a sanitary pad, stick it on your chin, and catch those worthless crocodile tears. Damn, even your bodily fluids are cheaper than this!”
“Spending Star Coins at this level only to lose? All because of this jinx!”
“Move it! Move your damn ass! Even if you had half of Big Pei Shuyu’s charm, it wouldn’t have been this humiliating!”
“Ugly bitch! Crawl back to wherever your deadbeat dad spawned you!”
Li Changgeng frowned at the live stream interface packed with toxic comments and asked irritably, “Now what? Zhen Ji’s done for!”
“Sigh.”
Fu Daiheng sighed along with him, then tentatively suggested, “How about… we truly just compensate them with Zhen Ji?”
Jin Yucheng’s face darkened as he beckoned the operations manager over.
“From your experience, is there any chance Zhen Ji can make a comeback?”
The operations manager stammered, “It’s highly unlikely, um… very difficult to save her image…”
“Why?”
“Today we drew in a massive number of individual players. During the PK match, many were voting along, contributing millions at least…”
“So the mere fact we didn’t win means Zhen Ji has to bear the brunt of it?”
“That’s how live streaming works. Such a large base of lower-tier players needs an outlet for their anger. They will inevitably blame the streamer. Coincidentally, Zhen Ji is new and has no emotional connection with the audience…”
“Got it.”
Jin Yucheng nodded. Just then, the host pushed open the door, sweating profusely as he asked, “Boss, what about the wager? They’re waiting for our decision.”
“We’re discussing it right now; give us a moment.”
Fu Daiheng waved his hand, staring at Zhen Ji’s pitiful appearance on the screen, and suddenly felt a pang of reluctance.
“Are we really transferring her contract to them? Honestly, she’s full of potential–such a stunning beauty, and we went through so much trouble to sign her…”
Li Changgeng also voiced concerns: “If we do give her to them, Golden Jade Guild will be forever overshadowed by Xingyu in the live streaming industry. That’s my main worry–everything else is secondary.”
The operations manager added a professional opinion: “We don’t have another streamer with ‘queen bee’ potential right now. From a purely professional standpoint, she’s a talent worth developing.”
