Chapter 865: Chapter 847: Unable to Hold On…

Rolling waves of fire surged forward, and Peter immediately leaped sideways to dodge, rising up and retaliating with his Gatling guns.

Two Gatling guns fired simultaneously, their gunfire blending into a continuous roar. The magic energy bullets formed two unbroken lines, accurately landing on the Lava Demon.

But against such powerful attacks, the Lava Demon, though struck fiercely and erupting with sparks, seemed to bear little serious harm. It didn’t even retreat a step. Instead, it roared while shielding its chest with its arms and charged at Peter.

The giant, over four meters tall, sprinted with unimaginable speed, reaching Peter in the blink of an eye.

“Damn it!”

Peter hadn’t anticipated that the Lava Demon’s defensive power would be so strong, nor that it would be so fast. He had no choice but to dodge sideways once more, barely avoiding its charge. However, as he jumped away and just managed to regain his footing, the Lava Demon hurled two fireballs at him.

Bang! Bang! Two fireballs, bigger than basins, smashed heavily into Peter, sending him flying instantly. Not only that, his armor’s chestplate now had two large dents. If not for the thickness of the Slaughter Battle Armor and the protective Defensive Coating with extremely formidable defensive strength, this single blow could have decided the outcome.

Upon closer inspection of the damaged parts of Peter’s armor, lava could be seen dripping downward. This explained why he was sent flying by the two fireballs–because what the Lava Demon had thrown weren’t ordinary fireballs but two masses of flame-wrapped lava!

This is what makes high-level demons fearsome. They can instantaneously kill any Void Magic Warrior with almost any attack, while almost no attack can harm them. That’s why they are true monstrosities.

The Lava Demon’s furious roar erupted again, followed by vibrations rumbling through the ground as it charged at Peter once more!

Seeing danger again rapidly approaching, Peter hurriedly tried to leap sideways once more, only to notice at the critical moment that the Lava Demon was clutching two blazing masses of lava in its hands. As a member of the Guard Corps, Peter’s wealth of experience instantly kicked in; he realized he absolutely couldn’t jump away. If he did, he’d be immediately targeted by those two masses of lava mid-air, and since the Slaughter Battle Armor lacked flight capabilities, such an attack would surely mean his death.

It had to be admitted–high-level demons not only outmatched normal demons in capability, but also in intelligence. After a few rounds of exchanging blows with Peter, the monster had already formulated a strategy to deal with him!

Realizing he couldn’t dodge, Peter was left with only one option. He quickly activated the mana within his armor, concentrating it entirely into the eye section of his helmet, and then fired a Magic Energy Beam from the eyes with explosive force!

The red-hot Magic Energy Beam, blazing like flames, hit the Lava Demon the instant it was fired, forcing the bulldozer-like creature to halt in its tracks!

Eye Beam Cannon!

This was the Slaughter Battle Armor’s true ultimate weapon!

As a battle armor specifically designed for ground combat, Rocky considered one major issue during its design phase: how the Slaughter Battle Armor would cope with or defend against high-level demons. This problem was exceedingly difficult to solve. Unless the Slaughter Battle Armor’s core performance could be enhanced to rival that of the White Demon, even ace Void Magic Warriors couldn’t handle high-level demons using standard battle armor.

But that, fundamentally, was impossible. For all its advancements, the Slaughter Battle Armor was still essentially a mass-produced model; it could never reach the level of the White Demon. The entire research team was utterly stumped, until they devised one solution: counter attack with attack.

Trying to make a mass-produced battle armor capable of contending with high-level demons was undoubtedly futile. However, reinforcing a specific aspect seemed feasible. Hence, Rocky equipped the Slaughter Battle Armor with the Eye Beam Cannon. The concept for this cannon was borrowed from the White Demon’s Demon Annihilation Cannon, both leveraging the majority of the armor’s mana for a single, devastating strike. Clearly, Rocky and the research team intended to use overwhelming offensive power to fight high-level demons.

In practice, the Eye Beam Cannon proved remarkably effective. When it hit the Lava Demon, it managed to halt its advance. But… that was the extent of its impact…

Struck directly by the Beam Cannon, the Lava Demon stopped momentarily and let out a howl of agony, seemingly severely injured. However, just moments later, the colossal monster locked its gaze onto the continuous attack of the Beam Cannon and began moving forward again. Initially, its strides were slow and labored, but after two steps, it picked up speed and charged at Peter once more!

Faced with this scenario, Peter could do nothing but maintain the Beam Cannon’s fire. As long as the Beam Cannon persisted, the Lava Demon couldn’t sprint. If the Beam Cannon ceased, Peter would die instantly. Even so, he could only slow down the Lava Demon’s steps; he could not stop it completely.

Just then, as the Lava Demon was about to reach Peter, a Beam Cannon shot out from behind it, striking its back directly!

Suddenly hit by an attack from behind, the Lava Demon roared in pain, dropping to one knee. Before it could rise, another Beam Cannon blasted it from the side. Within moments, six or seven Beam Cannons were pounding it relentlessly!

The other members of the Guard Corps arrived just in time!

While Peter was dueling with the Lava Demon, his squad had been tirelessly clearing out surrounding demons. These teammates weren’t reluctant to rescue Peter; they trusted his ability to hold off the Lava Demon while they made the most of the precious time to eliminate normal demons.

This strategy proved immensely effective. Combat against a high-level demon is inherently unforgiving and leaves no room for error. Even a one-on-one encounter is precariously dangerous. If normal demons interfered during such a fight, not just Peter, but the entire squad might fail to defeat a single Lava Demon.

This explained why Peter was fighting alone. Now, as he was nearing his limit, the other members of the squad finally arrived. They immediately followed his lead, firing their own Beam Cannons at the Lava Demon. Under the continuous barrage of six or seven Beam Cannons, even the massive and overwhelmingly powerful Lava Demon couldn’t withstand the assault. Moments later, it collapsed to the ground, melting into a pool of lava.
