Chapter 947: Chapter 6 Rich Experience Chapter 947: Chapter 6 Rich Experience The shipwrecked crew made it to shore one after another, and Bill wiped off the water stains, about to pull Bi Fang up from the water, but surprisingly grasped at nothing, then he saw Bi Fang draw the long knife from his waist and ferociously slash into the water.
Everyone was puzzled, but in the next second, an astonishing wave surged, followed by strands of red fresh blood.
Bi Fang was unscathed, it was apparent that something had attacked him, but had not succeeded, and had even been wounded.
The few people on the shore were startled by the blood, retreating repeatedly, only Bill and Ah-Quan remained in place.
Bill shouted, with half a foot already stepping into the water, trying to pull Bi Fang directly, “Fang! Come on up, quick!”
But the wounded attacker clearly didn’t plan to let go of its prey that was within reach.
The waterline reappeared, it accelerated silently, taut like a string, quickening its pace, aimed straight for Bi Fang floating in the water.
Layers of water churned, everyone on shore felt their hearts clench, intuition telling them it was some kind of terrifying thing.
The water suddenly broke apart, and at the same moment Bi Fang moved sharply to the side, the air filled with the sound of satin tearing, a huge dark shadow leapt from the water, pouncing towards Bi Fang, but missed!
The giant snake’s mouth exuded a strong fishy stench, Bi Fang kicked its head aside, his Burmese Knife flipped in his hand, again leaving a huge gash on the snake’s body, more fresh blood scattering into the water.
“Snake!” Sam couldn’t help but exclaim.
But she wasn’t sure if it was a snake, it was a gigantic creature she had never seen before, exceeding the limits of her imagination.
Sam, conducting biological research, never knew there could be a snake in the world that, while growing so large, still maintained an astonishing speed–this was simply impossible by normal evolutionary standards!
Even Bill and Ah-Quan were frightened into a retreat.
Having stayed in Borneo for so long, they had never personally seen such a horrifying monster.
“The legend, the legend is true…” Ah-Quan muttered to himself, recalling the Borneo legend of the world’s longest snake.
Bi Fang floated on the water, breathing heavily; he scanned the water’s surface, which was almost covered with blood, making it impossible to see what lay beneath, but with his biological sensing, the movement of the giant python underwater was clear as day.
He could even sense the electrical signals emitted by the contraction of the creature’s muscles; Bi Fang, with an exceptional understanding of serpentine anatomy, could almost predict its attack patterns the moment its muscles tensed, and react accordingly.
Unfortunately, the Blood Orchid did not only enhance the python’s size, it also increased its intelligence.
After two consecutive unsuccessful and even injurious attacks, the python became wary and did not launch another attack, instead it roamed around in the water for a while before disappearing.
The turbulent water gradually calmed, leaving only the ripples spreading from the waterfall’s impact.
Bi Fang stayed in the water for about ten minutes, only swimming towards the shore after confirming the python had disappeared.
Underwater he could fight with the python, but he couldn’t pursue and kill–it would lead into an endless passivity, as a python’s body structure was far more flexible in the water than a human’s.
Grabbing a rock to get up on the shore, Bi Fang took off his backpack and laid it on the ground.
Droplets of water fell in strings from the tips of his hair, the Indiana-Jones-style Safari shirt, now wet and clinging tightly to his body, showcased his well-sculpted muscle curves and the beast tooth necklace below his neck.
This uniform, developed from the colonial European military attire stationed abroad, prioritizes functionality and practicality and is Bi Fang’s most frequently worn apparel on his adventures.
He took off his clothes and wrung them out before draping them over his shoulders, scanning the silent audience, “I think it’s best we leave here as soon as possible, otherwise I can’t guarantee that the creatures underwater won’t come ashore.”
Upon hearing Bi Fang’s words, life slowly returned to the silent crowd.
Boris was coughing violently, followed by heavy gasps for air. He had not dared to breathe until now when he finally reacted.
The Mary had missed the confluence of rivers, plummeted down a waterfall in silence, and the crew should have been filled with anger, complaints, and regret, but now all that was left was fear.
Even Bill couldn’t bother about the sunken Mary.
Ge’er asked blankly, “What was that just now…?”
“Clearly, a python, a species I’ve never seen before. Luckily, I managed to scare it off,” Bi Fang glanced back at the lake and took a few steps back. His senses weren’t as strong on water, and if the python made a sudden move, there was a real risk.
“I’ve never seen such a huge python before, and are you really a crew member?” Finance Minister Gordon stared at Bi Fang’s physique and at the several daggers on his legs, especially the Burmese knife at his waist for quite some time.
“He’s a new crew member I just recruited for this journey,” Bill said sitting on the ground, catching his breath.
Bi Fang scratched his head and smiled, “Yes, I’m actually a professional explorer. I’ve summited Mount Everest, survived a hundred days in the Arctic, drifted at sea, glided from inside the Arctic Circle to France, and I’ve also killed many black bears with a spear I crafted. I just happened to be in Borneo for an adventure when I encountered the rainy season and heard there was a ship, so I came over.”
“Fuck, are you even human?” Boris cursed, which seemed to be the only way to relieve his terror.
The others too were incredulous, but at the same time, their hearts inexplicably began to relax.
They had thought they were doomed, with the ship sunk, no food, in the depths of the rainforest with dangerous animals roaming, and their phones without a signal, yet their group had an exceptionally reliable top expert.
Everyone had seen the python; it was a complete monster, yet Bi Fang had managed to chase it away with just a knife. Thinking of this, their sense of safety soared.
With this thought, the group finally overcame their paralyzing fear and started to organize the remaining supplies.
Only Dr. Jack kept staring at the water, absorbed in thought.
After collecting the supplies, they discovered that they were left with only specimen jars, a map, and some water; nearly all their equipment had been water-damaged.
Bi Fang wasn’t surprised; the technology in films was still at the beginning of the century when cell phones were bulky bricks.
Fortunately, Boris found a functioning satellite phone.
The nearest patrol was in Palan, obviously out of reach, but Captain Bill had a solution. He had a friend who operated a boat on the Toku River. All they needed to do was walk along the riverbank for some time, reach Gana Rock, and they could take a boat out from there.
But that meant crossing through the jungle.
Realizing this, everyone turned to look at Bi Fang.
“Alright, actually, I have quite a bit of experience in this area.”
Bi Fang put on his clothes and drew the machete from his waist.
