Chapter 659: Chapter 659: The Priestess’s Charms (35)
Ah Da’s side had a great number of people, all surging towards Chuzheng.
Ye Shuliang’s men also rushed in, the scene had turned into a chaotic stew.
Fu Yu was still in a daze, asking himself, ‘Who am I, where am I, what am I doing’.
Suddenly, with so many people starting to fight, he began to instinctively fight back.
The glow from the magic and the flames burning atop the Pit of Ten Thousand complemented each other, dazzlingly colorful.
“Chuzheng, you’re seeking death!”
Chuzheng: “…”
I’m not seeking death.
I never learned that trick.
–
“Bang!”
Chuzheng kicked Ye Shuliang away, and the Ye Family’s members supported him, preventing him from falling into the burning Pit of Ten Thousand.
The air was filled with an unpleasant smell, the scent of burning corpses mixed with the stench of decay.
If the flames were not covering the view at this moment, one could see the rotting corpses inside the Pit of Ten Thousand.
“Ahh—-”
Bang!
The people from Ah Da’s side also fell in succession.
Chuzheng dodged the onrushing men, pivoted on her feet, and darted towards Ah Da.
Ah Da’s pupils contracted slightly, he cast Dark Series Magic, Chuzheng raised her sleeve and with a flick, two streams of Dark Series Magic collided in the air.
Dark Series Magic, unlike other types of magic, does not produce an even more splendid light upon collision.
When Dark Series Magic collides, only Dark Element continues to spread, like a cloud of black smoke.
Chuzheng, unlike other Magicians, did not try to maintain distance at all; she was constantly approaching, almost completely disregarding the attack range of the magic.
Ah Da cast several spells, but Chuzheng neutralized them all.
The distance between the two continuously closed in.
Ah Da murmured softly, the Curse he was chanting was much longer than before.
The second before Chuzheng got close, Ah Da exclaimed, “Dark Descent!”
The light around them dimmed instantly.
Chuzheng stood amidst the darkness where she could not see her own hand.
Whoosh—-
A gust of wind swept past her ear.
Chuzheng shifted her body to the side as something grazed her cheek, bringing with it a drafts of icy wind.
Chuzheng touched her wrist, and Yin Xian flowed into the darkness like water, emitting a faint glow.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh—-
Projectiles made of condensed Dark Element attacked from all directions.
Chuzheng flicked her wrist, and the Yin Xian swept away the projectiles, scattering like meteors following the path from which the Dark Element had come.
“Ahhh!”
Thud—-
The surrounding darkness dispersed.
Chuzheng stood in place, and on the other side, Ah Da’s body lay tense on the ground as if he were bound by something, even though there was nothing visible on him.
He raised his head to look at Chuzheng.
There she stood, composed and nonchalant, casually looking his way.
Their gazes met in the void, Ah Da remembered the time they had spent together; this woman always had the same demeanor.
In this world, it seemed that there was nothing she cared about.
Indifferent.
Calm.
Noble.
Elegant.
Chuzheng walked leisurely up to Ah Da and slightly bent over, “I have something I’d like to ask you.”
The hand she had been holding behind her back suddenly lifted and flung something aside.
Ye Shuliang was struck by an invisible force and flung into the flames of the Pit of Ten Thousand, rolling down in flames.
“Ahhhh…”
Ye Shuliang cried out in agony.
The Ye Family members frantically tried to extinguish the flames on him.
From beginning to end, the expression of the woman before them remained unchanged.
Though her face was cold, she possessed a confidence and arrogance that was deeply ingrained, something that didn’t need much display to be profoundly felt.
Ah Da watched her warily, “Miss Chuzheng, what do you want to ask?”
“The Water Series Magic you used earlier, how do you switch it freely?”
Ah Da thought Miss Chuzheng would ask him more about the Pit of Ten Thousand or other matters… but he never expected such a question.
“Miss Chuzheng, what’s the meaning of asking this question?”
“Whether my question has a meaning or not, is not something you need to know. But if you do not answer, then you will understand what it means.” Her calm tone was full of threat.
Ah Da couldn’t break free.
The people he had brought were all lying on the ground at this moment.
As for that useless bunch of the Ye Family… they were of no hope to him…
Ah Da’s eyes darted about as he came up with a plan, “This is a secret, but if Miss Chuzheng were to join us, I would of course be happy to tell you.”
Chuzheng: “…”
Why do honest people always want to con me into joining their pyramid schemes?
Chuzheng squatted down, casually picked up a dry branch, and poked it at his chest.
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t tell… but…”
Chuzheng turned the branch towards the Pit of Ten Thousand.
Ah Da followed the direction she was pointing and looked over.
The flames of the Pit of Ten Thousand were slowly fading, and the air smelt suffocating.
“Miss Chuzheng, I’ve said it before, even if you burn these bodies it’s useless,” Ah Da said, now with a newfound confidence. “Do you know what this Pit of Ten Thousand is?”
Chuzheng tapped the void with the dry branch, following his lead, “What is it?”
“Miss Chuzheng, have you ever heard of the God of Darkness?” As Ah Da redirected Chuzheng’s focus towards the Pit of Ten Thousand, he slowly gathered strength in the hand pressed against the ground.
“Heard of it. Do you also wish to summon the God of Darkness?”
“Miss Chuzheng, whether or not the God of Darkness exists is not known to us,” Ah Da suddenly declared.
Chuzheng gave him a bizarre look.
Aren’t you the followers of the God of Darkness?
To question the existence of the God of Darkness?
Look at the followers of the God of Light–such devotion! No wonder their God of Light is doing better than yours. If you doubt your own faith, how can you have believers!
“But there is an artifact that is related to the God of Darkness,” Ah Da continued.
“You’re also here for that artifact?” Ye Shuliang suddenly interjected.
He was being supported by others, his clothes disheveled, his hair singed and messy, his face smeared black. Had he not spoken up, probably no one could recognize it was Ye Shuliang.
Ah Da glanced at Ye Shuliang but didn’t respond.
It went without saying for Chuzheng, she wouldn’t even look at him.
Ignored by others, Ye Shuliang’s temper flared up.
But considering Chuzheng’s inexplicable power, Ye Shuliang hesitated, not daring to actually confront her.
Ah Da continued to question, “Miss Chuzheng, would you like to know what it is?”
“I don’t want to know.” Chuzheng twirled the dry branch in her hand and said distantly, “All I know is that if you don’t answer my question, whatever you’re looking for will disappear from here.”
Ah Da frowned.
Ye Shuliang’s reaction was much more direct, “Chuzheng, what have you done?”
Chuzheng lifted her chin slightly, signaling them to look for themselves.
In the Pit of Ten Thousand, the skeletal remains had vanished, revealing the charred bottom of the pit, but the Magic Array was still there, and still active.
This Magic Array…
“There’s a very powerful Slaying Array within the Dark Series Magic Array, rumored to be capable of executing the God of Light.” Chuzheng’s voice, clear and detached, slowly rose, “The tens of thousands of corpses in the Pit of Ten Thousand are enough to support this Slaying Array. Whatever lies beneath, once the Slaying Array is activated, will…”
She paused, not continuing further.
She let Ah Da and Ye Shuliang draw their own conclusions.
