Chapter 631: Chapter 631: The Priest’s Charms (7)
The flames burned quietly, casting bizarre, twisted shadows of branches on the ground.
Many Silver Wolf corpses lay on the ground, with Fu Yu and Ah Da standing beside them, their faces pale as ghosts.
Frightened.
Silver Wolfs?
No!
Not them!
It was Chuzheng who had frightened them.
So many Silver Wolfs, and she handled them all by herself.
Who would believe that if it were told?
Fu Yu cautiously scrutinized the girl standing among the corpses.
Flickering lights interwove around her, her body devoid of any sign of life, her clear, pitch-black eyes reflecting the dancing flames, yet within her eyes, there was only chilling ice.
There she stood as if she were the sovereign ruler.
Chuzheng’s toes pivoted slightly, stepping on the fallen leaves on the ground, rustling softly.
Her skirt twirled a subtle arc in the air, like a flower blooming in the darkness.
The girl walked backhanded into the darkness.
“Master Fu Yu…” Ah Da called out to Fu Yu.
Fu Yu swallowed hard, “Let’s go, let’s go.”
The two supported each other and followed Chuzheng into the darkness.
–
“Miss, was that not a bit underhanded just now?” The middle-aged man looked back into the darkness, worry etched between his brows.
The woman beside him snorted lightly, “What’s underhanded or not? If we didn’t let them block, could we have escaped?”
“But…”
“Enough, they were just three nobodies. You would be better off thinking about how to leave this godforsaken place,” the woman said impatiently.
The middle-aged man: “…”
He couldn’t shake off a feeling of unease.
In their hurry to escape, they had left their Demonic Beast Horses behind; the middle-aged man didn’t even know where they were now, which made him even more anxious.
This valley, if one took the road most traveled, indeed posed no danger.
But venturing deeper inside…
What might happen there was anyone’s guess.
The middle-aged man didn’t dare to stop here and urged everyone to keep looking for a safe place.
Finally, the main force stopped in a relatively open area, and the middle-aged man let everyone rest in turns.
Boom rumble rumble…
Just as the group had settled down, the ground shook violently as if something was heading their way.
The sound grew closer and closer.
The middle-aged man let out a low grunt, no longer caring what was behind them, running was the only option!
They still ran too late, however, as a group of Gale Leopards ambushed from both sides, swiftly closing the encirclement around them.
“Have the Demonic Beasts here gone mad?”
“We’re not going to die here, are we?”
“These Gale Leopards are even tougher than the Silver Wolfs, what do we do?!”
The middle-aged man let out a low grunt to maintain order in the group.
“Miss, look at the Gale Leopard in the middle,” the middle-aged man whispered low, “Something’s not right.”
The woman saw it too.
The Gale Leopard in the center was shrouded in a thick Dark Element, clearly under the control of Dark Magic.
Gale Leopards are social Demonic Beasts, each group led by a leader, and the one with the Dark Element aura was obviously the leader of this pack.
“Someone?” The woman furrowed her brows.
The leading Gale Leopard growled lowly.
Various magics were flung towards the center instantly; the middle-aged man and the woman had no time to discuss or consider why the Dark Magic was on the Gale Leopard.
“Earth Shield!”
An earth wall appeared in front of the woman, blocking a Gale Leopard for her.
But the person who saved the woman was bitten in the neck by another Gale Leopard that pounced from the side. The Gale Leopard leaped fiercely, and before his companions could save him, they watched helplessly as he was dragged away into the darkness by the beast.
The woman quickly retreated, her hands forming seals, with purple lightning flickering in her palms.
“Lightning Arrow.”
The woman called out softly.
Purple lightning arrows, crackling with electricity, shot towards the Gale Leopard.
Thunder Series Magicians were few in number, but their ability to inflict damage was particularly strong, which meant that within the ranks of magicians, those of the Thunder Series held a higher status.
Of course, they couldn’t compare to Light Series Magic.
A Light Series Magician might not even be found among a million people.
–
Chuzheng sat on a fallen, dried-up tree, resting her chin on her hands, watching the battle unfold before her.
If someone were to shine a light behind her at this moment, it would surely look like a scene from a horror movie.
Fu Yu and Ah Da were already trembling at this point.
After the Silver Wolf incident, Chuzheng didn’t say a word; she silently moved through the jungle until she found a Gale Leopard.
Fu Yu watched as she caught the Gale Leopard, not knowing what she did, but then the creature led them to a group…
And then, then… Fu Yu saw Chuzheng use Dark Magic to subdue the Gale Leopard.
Dark Magic, oh no!
She’s a Dark Magician!
The middle-aged man being surrounded by Gale Leopards seemed to have noticed Chuzheng; despite the distance, he recognized her.
The unease he had felt before started to swell in his heart.
“It’s her.” The woman also spotted Chuzheng, grinding her teeth as she said, “She’s actually not dead.”
How did she deal with so many Silver Wolves?
The woman threw out a bolt of lightning from her hand, which slithered like a snake towards Chuzheng’s direction.
Black magic collided with the lightning.
There was a thunderous explosion, and even the air seemed to ripple with aftershocks as magical sparks slowly dissipated into the atmosphere.
“Did you see that?” The woman grabbed the middle-aged man’s hand, her tone a strange mixture of shock and disbelief.
“I saw it…” That was Dark Magic.
The woman forced the words through her clenched teeth: “She’s a Dark Magician!”
All these Gale Leopards were her doing.
Realizing this enraged and excited the woman. Before the middle-aged man could stop her, she charged through with lightning, darting towards Chuzheng.
She never expected to meet a living Dark Magician!
Killing a Dark Magician would ensure her place in the Temple of Light.
Chuzheng watched as the woman broke through the Gale Leopards’ defense and ran towards her, her eyebrows lifting slightly.
“Heaven’s Punishment!”
Suddenly, several bolts of lightning appeared above her head, encircling her in a spherical formation and swiftly descending.
Chuzheng slightly raised her hand, fingers leisurely unfolding in the empty space, with silver light twinkling at her fingertips. Then, it rapidly materialized in her palm in a vine-like weave, ascending to meet the falling lightning bolts.
The purple lightning was majestic, like the fury of a thunderstorm.
The silver light was soft as cotton, without a trace of dominance.
The two lights met in mid-air.
Light flickered.
There was a moment of silence in the whole world.
Then came the violent sound of an explosion, spreading like waves into the distance.
The mountain ranges quaked in response.
The aftermath of the magic swept through the surroundings, causing the trees to rustle loudly.
The woman was pushed back several steps by the residual energy, looking at the storm’s epicenter with a mix of astonishment, her pupils constricting.
She’s… unharmed?
Heaven’s Punishment was a high-level Thunder Series spell. Although she had only learned the basics, its power was considerable.
How could she be unharmed?
Impossible!
Are Dark Magicians that powerful?!
Inside the storm’s eye, the girl sat unfluctuating as Mount Tai, not changing her posture in the slightest.
That posture seemed to mock the woman’s efforts.
