Chapter 1368: Chapter 1367: Feeling Melancholic?
Shu Pan was really at a loss for words.
Just let Mr. Gu have some quiet alone time, he probably hasn’t come to terms with the fact that their daughter has grown up.
He still thought Joy was that little girl from before.
Actually, Shu Pan was quite open about it since Joy had grown up and developed her own thoughts. She couldn’t always protect and guide her, a lot now depended on her daughter herself.
So now, Shu Pan had already started to let go. And she knew that Joy was a sensible child and wouldn’t act rashly.
Their daughter had always been well-behaved and sensible; there was really no need for her to worry too much.
It was just that Mr. Gu was usually so busy that he wasn’t very familiar with some aspects of their child’s life. Now, hearing his child wanting to go to a university far away, he was starting to panic.
Shu Pan felt he was overreacting.
Seeing him sitting there looking so gloomy, Shu Pan smiled and sighed. It seemed she needed to offer him some guidance.
“Mr. Gu, what are you thinking about? You seem lost in thought,” Shu Pan said, pretending not to have noticed the earlier scene, and then she walked over.
Gu Shaoting saw her, reached out to pull her down next to him, and then, knitting his brows, he asked, “Do you think there’s something different about Joy lately? Did she meet someone?”
Shu Pan laughed lightly, “The master of worry, indeed,” and then said, “She probably meets new friends every day, isn’t that normal?”
“No, she wants to apply to Tsinghua University. Do you realize how far that is from us? We can’t take care of her if she goes there,” Gu Shaoting felt this was a serious issue. He had never anticipated this scenario, assuming Joy would follow his plans.
“Mr. Gu, Joy has grown up. She needs to be independent. She can’t grow under our wings forever. She should be soaring in the sky by herself. We can’t always protect her,” Shu Pan stated matter-of-factly.
“Although that’s true, I still find it hard to accept. My little girl really has grown up and gotten her own ideas. She doesn’t need my arrangements anymore,” Gu Shaoting’s sense of loss welled up spontaneously.
“You might as well face the facts sooner,” Shu Pan said, somewhat reveling in his dismay.
“Seeing how upset I am, you seem rather pleased, don’t you?” Gu Shaoting said mischievously as he started tickling Shu Pan’s waist.
Shu Pan couldn’t stand being tickled, so she screamed and fell into his arms.
“Since Joy will go to Tsinghua University later, why don’t we have another child to keep by our side?” Gu Shaoting joked.
“Mr. Gu, you’re thinking too much. Even if the policy allows, I am also getting old,” Shu Pan said as she touched his face.
“Where have you aged? You look the same as before,” Gu Shaoting remarked as he observed Shu Pan’s skin, still as fair and unwrinkled as ever. Heaven really had been generous to her.
Whereas he, in recent years, had begun to get gray hairs.
“Hehe, really?” Shu Pan was amused. Time is fair to everyone after all.
But now, she had her husband’s love, sensible and obedient children, a harmonious family–carefree, without worries, which made for a good state of mind.
Gu Shaoting smiled, then leaned in to press a kiss on her lips.
It seemed they hadn’t had such intimacy in a long time.
However, that feeling was still there, no matter how long the rest of their lives might be, he had only one person by his side, and that was Shu Pan.
