Bai Lan glanced at her own son, then at Shu Joy, and then couldn’t help smiling joyfully.

It seemed she didn’t need to worry anymore; her silly boy had finally come around.

She knew that the kid had discretion. Like his father, he was very systematic in his actions and so she really wasn’t worried at all.

After dinner, Bai Lan and Shu Pan wanted to go shopping.

But Joy didn’t want to leave; luckily, there was a bookstore inside the mall. She decided to go there to read some books and wait for her mom.

This was a great idea because if she just walked around with her mom and the others, she would feel it was a waste of time.

They might end up buying nothing and just wandering around aimlessly.

Joy having made this decision truly delighted Zhou Yanlin.

He had been racking his brains, trying to figure out how to bring it up.

Now, conditions were ripe.

“Auntie Shu, Mom, you guys go shop. Shu Joy and I will look at books here. Come find us when you’re done,” Zhou Yanlin said, like a little adult.

Shu Pan nodded her head, “With you here, I’m at ease.”

After Bai Lan and Shu Pan walked away, Zhou Yanlin saw Joy sit down at a table.

So, he went next door to the bubble tea shop and packed a cup of pearl milk tea for Joy.

Zhou Yanlin thought, isn’t this what girls like to drink these days?

When he placed the milk tea in front of Joy, she first blinked in surprise and then happily held it and started to drink.

Zhou Yanlin smiled contentedly; indeed, girls loved it.

Both picked out suitable books and started to read.

Zhou Yanlin glanced at Joy, then said, “Joy, actually, First Middle School isn’t bad. The environment is good and they have strong teachers. You could consider it for junior high.”

Zhou Yanlin had his own motives for saying this; he planned to go to high school there.

If Joy also went to that junior high, at least they would have each other for support.

When Shu Joy heard this, she opened her round eyes wide and then nodded her head, “Coincidentally, I was thinking the same thing.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanlin’s lips curved into a satisfied smile.

“Mm, keep it up. You can definitely do it,” Zhou Yanlin encouraged her.

Shu Joy was a bit startled, finding it strange that the brother from Bai Lan’s family seemed to care a lot about her.

But they also had a strong affinity; they had already met at the previous competition.

“Okay, I’ll do my best.” After saying this, Shu Joy took another sip of her milk tea. Hmm, the milk tea with its rich fragrance made one feel utterly content.

Afterwards, the two fell into silence, both intently reading their books.

Shu Pan and Bai Lan were truly best friends; they shopped floor after floor, tirelessly enjoying themselves.

They bought a lot of spoils of war, feeling quite accomplished.

Shu Pan rarely shopped like this before, since Lin Li and Huanhuan were busy too.

But now with Bai Lan, life didn’t seem so dull.

At least, they could meet up and go out together.

After shopping, the two women found the children.

They saw Zhou Yanlin and Shu Joy absorbed in their books.

Bai Lan and Shu Pan exchanged a glance and then smiled.

Since they had both driven, they parted ways at the mall.

On the way home, Bai Lan looked at her son and then said, “Honey, do you have something on your mind?”

“Mom, I’m almost 15, stop calling me ‘honey.’ It sounds so mushy,” Zhou Yanlin protested.

For a boy, being called that all the time felt a bit effeminate.

“Stinker, you’re getting tired of your mom so quickly,” Bai Lan said, laughing.

“Just don’t guess wildly,” Zhou Yanlin didn’t want to elaborate, to prevent his mom from making a fuss.
