Chapter 691: Chapter 444: Arrested on the Spot
The carriage slowly made its way over the rough stone-paved street, with yellow sand swirling around, and its wheels producing a sandy rustle as it moved.
As the wind-borne sand struck the outer walls of the carriage, a distinct ping-pong sound could be heard inside. Chen Lun sat within, and even though he was cushioned by a soft leather sofa, he still felt the jolts of the ride. Polaris sat across from him, cradling a cup of chilled orange juice.
“I need you to perform exceptionally well in this mission. Can you do that?”
Chen Lun gestured with his hand, signaling to Barton to draw the curtains of the carriage window, then immediately turned to Polaris and said.
“Teacher, do you mean for me to kill a sufficient number of the enemy Undead Foreigners?”
Polaris revealed a thoughtful expression and asked aloud.
Chen Lun chuckled lightly but shook his head.
“Killing is not enough; it’s better to capture them… Only by imprisoning them in the Undying Prison can we effectively curb the counterattack power of the Anlong United Kingdom on the battlefield.”
He lifted his cup, took a sip of iced milk, and extended a finger.
“Besides you, I will also issue this mission to other foreign warriors of the Circus… Your achievements must rank first among them.”
Polaris immediately felt an immense pressure.
There were thousands of players in the Circus, and all were first-rate high players. Although his Level was currently far ahead, too many uncertainties existed when doing missions… Polaris was not completely confident.
But he was unwilling to give up easily and also worried that his timidity would lessen his teacher’s favorable regard, so he said resolutely:
“No problem, teacher. I will give it my all!”
“I’m looking forward to your performance, Polaris.”
Chen Lun smiled faintly and discreetly manipulated the panel to send an “extra mission” to the other. Polaris couldn’t help but be stunned because he discovered an additional step in his “side mission: Border Harassment”, which demanded that he kill or capture the most enemy players in the previous step.
As for the reward…
Polaris’s eyes gradually widened.
“[Destiny Sequence Seven – Magician] Supernatural Knowledge?!”
He instantly realized that it was because of his close relationship with Jack that he triggered this high-level hidden mission!
Polaris suppressed his excitement and clenched his fists.
“If I can complete this hidden mission, then I’ll become the first Mid Sequence Transcendent player in the current version, far ahead of everyone else!”
He thought to himself.
At this moment, the carriage slowly came to a halt, and Golov’s voice could be heard from outside the curtain:
“Mr. Jack, we’ve arrived at the Blythe Military District.”
“Good.”
Chen Lun nodded in response.
He then turned to Polaris and instructed:
“Off you go. There aren’t many days left until the battle starts. Try to do what I said before then…”
“Yes, teacher!”
Polaris took one last look at the panel, turned it off, took a deep breath, stood up from his seat to bow, and then turned to descend from the carriage.
After he left,
Chen Lun sat on the soft sofa and pondered for a moment, then turned to Floey and said:
“I want to entrust this matter to you to lead, to integrate the Circus’s foreign people and the Transcendents of the Bloodhand Gang, to hunt and capture as many enemy foreigners infiltrating the Empire border as possible.”
Floey hummed in affirmation, her face adorned with a serene smile. She smoothed her hair, rose from her chair, and nodded lightly.
Chen Lun then said to Morey, who was sitting aside:
“And you, come along with her, mainly to assist Polaris covertly…”
Morey appeared surprised but didn’t ask further, simply bowing respectfully in acknowledgment.
“Yes, Mr. Jack.”
After giving these instructions, Morey followed Floey and left, and Chen Lun leaned back on the sofa.
‘If you can’t complete the task even with this assistance, you can’t blame me… I also want to cultivate you into a more dazzling spokesperson, Polaris.’
He thought to himself with a smirk at the corner of his mouth.

Blythe Military District.
This place was originally the location of the Empire’s border garrison. After the confirmation of the start of the western war, it became a temporary military camp, used to receive troops rushing in from all over the territory.
The clergy of the Seven Righteous God Churches would also make a brief stop here to participate in some high-level meetings before the war, collaborating on strategic planning.
Chen Lun had Golov show their identification, and after passing three levels of checks and verification, they finally entered the interior of the military district.
Spacious roads were traversed by carriages, while the vehicles tailing had open-back platforms, laden with boxed weapons and equipment. Some soldiers, dressed in the dark green uniforms of the military and armed with flintlock rifles, stopped and saluted upon seeing Chen Lun and his party.
From a nearby training ground came synchronized chanting, accompanied by sporadic gunfire. Chen Lun knew that the troops were undergoing drills and training.
“Mr. Jack, does the Anlong United Kingdom have many Transcendents?”
Golov suddenly asked in a low voice.
Chen Lun walked forward undistracted and upon hearing the question, he simply replied in a tone mild:
“Not many… They are far fewer compared to the Empire, not even close to any of the three major subsidiary kingdoms.”
“Could we not swiftly resolve the war if we allowed Transcendents to participate in battle en masse?”
Golov continued to inquire.
“That’s too idealistic, Golov.”
Chen Lun, however, shook his head.
“In the Mystic Realm, most Transcendents belong to Low Sequence, and in a battlefield riddled with gunfire, their survival rate is actually no different from ordinary people. Bodies that haven’t undergone a Transcendent transformation fear firearms… Even Mid Sequence Transcendents face mortal peril when confronted with large-scale lethal weapons, and since they are fewer in number, it’s difficult for them to sway a battle involving millions of combatants like this one.”
