Chapter 8: New System

Huo Ce was a little surprised by her quick reaction and said calmly, “He’ll stay in our home. Don’t we have a few days of holiday coming up? Let Huo Yuan and him get used to each other first.”

“Alright, I’ll arrange it.” Ning Wan replied obediently.

She looked up and received the dissatisfied grievances of Lin Lang and Huo Yuan. She felt a little apologetic and straightened her back to focus.

She couldn’t relax and forget her “duties” just because her head didn’t hurt.

After dinner, Huo Ce went to the study to work while Lin Lang and Huo Yuan happily went to the garden to play with the dogs.

Only then did Auntie Liu quietly approach Ning Wan and whisper, “Young Madam, Young Master asked me to send Big Bei and Little Bei away!”

“Send them away?” Ning Wan was shocked.

Auntie Liu nodded and said nervously, “Yes, yes. Young Master said that Madam and Young Master have allergies and can’t have pets at home. What should we do?”

Ning Wan looked out of the window at the backyard. They were playing happily with the two dogs. “Wait a moment. Go do something else first. Perhaps the Master will change his mind?”

Auntie Liu clenched her fists and nodded, hoping that Ning Wan would work hard and convince Master.

Ning Wan smiled bitterly. How could she have the ability to do that? She had to depend on her mother-in-law. If it really didn’t work, she could only ‘encourage’ her mother-in-law.

Huo Ce, who had returned to the study, was not working. Instead, he stood at the window and looked at his mother and little nephew in the garden downstairs, as well as the two dogs.

This home had become a little different, but he could not tell what was different.

He also discovered that he could not hear the voice if he was not with the woman.

Knock, knock, knock. There was a knock on the door behind him.

“Come in!” He turned around and walked to the office chair to sit down.

His assistant, Han Chi, walked in with the documents. “President Huo, this is the contract that was just sent over. I need you to take a look.”

“OKay.” Huo Ce nodded.

“Is the report from Gu Miao out yet?” Huo Ce asked.

“It’s out. I’ve already sent it to your email. Doctor Gu said that there’s no problem. Remember to rest more,” Han Chi replied truthfully.

Huo Ce nodded and said casually, “Find me a psychiatrist.”

Han Chi was stunned for a moment. “A psychiatrist?”

“Yes, find the best and most authoritative.” Huo Ce said.

“Yes!” Han Chi agreed instinctively.

Ning Wan returned to her room and took off the expensive white dress under her. She heaved a sigh of relief and could not help but complain, “What kind of taste is this? Why must I wear a white dress?”

She slapped her mouth with that. She was already prepared to be tortured. Her legs went weak and she tripped on the carpet. Then, everything went black.

When she regained consciousness, Ning Wan saw herself lying on the carpet in her underwear. She could not help but be shocked. She quickly got up and put on her usual sweater and pants.

She felt a little dizzy. Could it be the aftereffects of being punished just now? She had never been in such a situation before, and she did not feel any lingering pain from being struck by lightning.

What is going on?

“Hello?” A soft voice sounded in her mind.

Ning Wan shuddered and instinctively looked around.

This was her room. There was no one else but her.

Could she be hallucinating?

“Hello, Beauty!” The voice sounded again.

Ning Wan was so frightened that a chill ran down her spine. She pressed herself tightly against the wardrobe and asked in a trembling voice, “Who is it?”

The voice yawned a little. “I’m a newly implanted system.”

“System? Newly implanted?” Ning Wan subconsciously shivered. Was there another wave before it subsided?

“I have a system. How can I run a dual system? Won’t it overload?” Ning Wan defended herself.

Seriously, can’t they cause trouble to someone else?

How could she survive with two systems running?

“Don’t worry, it won’t,” the soft voice promised confidently.

Ning Wan fell silent. After sorting out her thoughts, she probed, “Then how are you going to control me?”

“I’m a very friendly system.” The small voice was very cute.

As if I’d believe you!

Ning Wan believed that there would never be a free lunch in this world from the moment she was buried by the earthquake. There would only be traps.

“Alright, then I’ll change my question. What do you want me to do?” Ning Wan could not help but roll her eyes.
