Chapter 3: Decoration

“Gu Miao!” Huo Ce called out and pointed at his IV drip.

“Coming.” Gu Miao quickly went forward to give Huo Ce an injection and put pressure on the injection site to stop the bleeding.

“Brother, do you see that? We can’t let Auntie and Sister-in-law worry anymore. Health is the most important. You will never be able to earn all the money in the world!”

“That’s right, that’s right. Gu Miao is younger than you, yet he knows this principle. Look at you!” Lin Lang relaxed and started nagging.

Ning Wan felt her brain jolt. She knew that this was a warning from the system. She had to activate her established persona.

She blinked hard and tears welled up in her eyes. She leaned forward and said weakly and docilely, “Hubby, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else? Why don’t you rest in the hospital for a few more days? I’ll bring you food every day.”

[Can you just stay in the hospital and wait for death obediently?]

Huo Ce’s gaze fell on the beautiful face of the woman in front of him.

He would not mistreat this woman either. He would give half of his wealth to her as a reward when he died in the future.

Therefore, she became a decoration in the main residence. His mother and Huo Yuan liked her very much. That was even better. He just treated her as an expensive caregiver for them.

That was all Ning Wan meant to Huo Ce before today.

However, Huo Ce looked at Ning Wan’s innocent face and could not help but fall into deep thought.

Perhaps this woman isn’t just a vase?

He retracted his gaze and looked at Lin Lang. “Mom, I want to go home and stay for a while.”

“Ah! That’s great!” Lin Lang almost screamed.

She pulled Ning Wan over. “Wanwan, that’s great. Huo Ce is going home to stay with us.”

“Son, that’s right. You don’t have to work hard anymore with the Huo family’s current strength. You have to cherish your body and be loving with Wanwan. You have to give Huo Yuan a few more younger siblings. Riches can’t compare to a thriving population! Son, Mom is so happy!” Lin Lang reached out to hug his son again.

Huo Ce frowned and glanced at the woman who looked shy and infatuated. He was stunned for a moment.

This voice, perhaps, was not what she was thinking? Was he too tired? Hallucinating, maybe?

“I remember that Mom likes to eat cakes from Similar Times the most. Coincidentally, there’s one opposite the hospital. Why don’t we buy a cake and go home?” Huo Ce suggested.

“Alright, alright! Wanwan, go pick a flavor that you like. Whatever my Wanwan likes will definitely be the best.” Lin Lang held his wife’s hand and said kindly, not forgetting to wink at her.

“Okay, Mom.” Ning Wan replied shyly to her mother-in-law’s hint.

[I thank you, Mom. Don’t create another opportunity, alright? It’s just a cake. You want me, instead of the idle bodyguard, to run errands? Are you sure your son will take a second look at me if I buy a cake? My naive mother-in-law!]

“Mom, Hubby, I’ll go buy some cake first. You guys pack your things first.” Ning Wan felt that this was a good choice. She did not have to stand there and ask about his well-being at least. Hence, she took her phone and left.

Similar Times’ cakes were famous throughout the city. Matriarch Huo, the Madam Lin Lang, would only eat cakes from this shop. Even a small child like Huo Yuan recognized only this brand.

Ning Wan sighed constantly. It was just a cake. Why care about the brand? Rich people really think differently! Fortunately, she was still 100% patient with her mother-in-law and Little Huo Yuan.

However, she saw Huo Ce helping Lin Lang into the car when she returned to the hospital with the cake.
