Chapter 28: Bedtime Story

“What is it?”

Lu Junhan’s voice was raspy after taking a shower, and he sounded rather impatient.

“Can you come out?” The butler’s voice was very, very soft as if he was afraid of stirring up trouble. “This is something that you might need to handle personally.”

Lu Junhan frowned slightly and his eyes were filled with annoyance. He walked over and opened the door, before asking with an icy-cold demeanor, “What is it…”

Lu Junhan froze up mid-sentence when he saw the little kid sitting outside his door, sound asleep.

She was still wearing that white nightgown. At this time of night, she must’ve been freezing cold.

Her long eyelashes covered her eyes, and her chubby little face looked soft, like a marshmallow. Her mouth was opened slightly, and the sound of her breathing was quite soft as she snored away. She was pretty and elegant, just like a doll.

Her head was next to the door, and her tiny arms were wrapped around a large pillow. She was curled up in the corner next to the door to Lu Junhan’s bedroom.

She was so little, like a kitten that had no home to return to.

No one dared to disturb her sleep.

Lu Junhan’s pencil-thin lips were tightly pursed. He suddenly remembered that the little thing did say that she wanted to sleep together with him, but he didn’t pay much attention as he wasn’t accustomed to sleeping with someone else.

Especially when it was a little girl.

It would still be a no even if she was his daughter!

The butler pursed his lips. He also had a daughter himself, so he naturally understood Lu Li’s wish to sleep with Young Master Lu. He opened his mouth and said, “When I passed the little miss’ room, I didn’t see anyone in it. Then, I noticed that she fell asleep here. I think the little miss wants to sleep in the same room as you since she’s so young and needs someone to make her feel secure…”

It was already a huge concession for him to recognize her as his daughter today.

And she wanted to sleep together with him?

His bed wasn’t a place for strangers to sleep on.

“I’ve provided her a bed and she’s the one who refused to sleep in it,” Lu Junhan’s eyes were stone-cold when he continued, “If she likes to sit by the door, then let her be! Leave her alone!”

The butler then looked up at him with a conflicted expression and said, “About that… the mansion can get quite cold at night, and the little miss isn’t wearing much. If she spends the night out here, I’m afraid that the little miss would…”

Lu Junhan bit his lips and turned around.

“Take her back to her own room.”

Before the butler could say anything, the eyes of the little girl that pretended to be asleep sprung open upon hearing what her daddy said.

She had actually been asleep, but she was woken up when the butler got close to her. She thought he was a baddie who wanted to attack her daddy.

And then, daddy opened the door.

So she kept her eyelids sealed.

Seeing that he was about to go away, the young lady crawled over while stumbling along. Finally, she caught on to Lu Junhan’s bathrobe with her little hands, and she looked up with a sad expression as if she was seconds away from bawling her eyes out.

“Daddy… I don’t want to go back! Lili wants to sleep with you!”

Lu Junhan had clearly seen through her little ruse by then. He said to the butler coldly, “Bring her back to her room.

“Daddy, I don’t wanna…”

The little girl’s tears started flowing as she begged her daddy to let her stay with him. Her elegant, doll-like face was all pitiful as she sniffed with her red nose.

“Please… Daddy, don’t throw me out, okay?” She begged Lu Junhan.

The little girl then started to cry loudly as she rubbed her eyes, “Wah…Daddy…”

Five minutes later.

Lu Junhan placed a new blanket in the middle of the big, posh-looking European-style bed with an annoyed expression. The blanket was to act as a border between them. He then looked up with his dark eyes and stared at the little girl sleeping to his right before issuing a threat sternly, “You sleep on your side. Do not cross the line at all costs.”

The little girl was plenty happy to be able to stay with him. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she blinked her still reddish eyes. She replied nicely to him while nodding, “Alright, daddy.”

The sad and pitiful expression she wore just now when she begged her daddy to let her stay with him was nowhere to be seen at the moment.

“…”

He suspected that he had just been bamboozled by the little girl again.

Lu Junhan then laid down on his side with a cold face. It hadn’t even been a minute after issuing the warning before the little girl’s head crossed the line. She stared at him with her beautiful big eyes, and asked him with her little voice, “Daddy, do you want to listen to a bedtime story?”
