Chapter 2493: Chapter 2494: Farewell
In the dead of night, Lin Yi hung up the phone.
Soon after, he saw the third window from the left being pushed open. Lin Yi glanced around and, noticing no one paying attention, slipped inside the room.
Seeing Lin Yi enter, Caie Mitsui quickly shut the window and drew the curtains.
No one could have imagined someone slipping silently into Caie Mitsui’s room.
“Mr. Lin Yi, are you okay?”
Caie Mitsui was wearing a black lace nightgown, her stunning figure fully revealed.
She saw Lin Yi sitting on the ground, breathing heavily, and stepped forward to help him up.
“You seem to have a fever. Let me get you some medicine.”
Without giving Lin Yi a chance to object, Caie Mitsui brought over a first-aid kit and a cup of hot water.
Lin Yi searched through the kit and swallowed a few pills.
“Don’t worry about me, it’s just fatigue. I’ll be fine.”
Lin Yi handed her the cup. “Can I get another cup of hot water?”
“Oh, sure.”
Caie Mitsui darted off barefoot, the sound of her footsteps echoing, and poured Lin Yi another large cup of hot water, her expression betraying a trace of nervousness.
Holding the water, Lin Yi approached the fridge and found plenty of food to fill his stomach.
“Let me make you some noodles. Stop snacking on this stuff.”
“Fair enough, make a lot.”
“Got it.”
Though she’d rarely cooked before, Caie Mitsui had studied abroad and was capable of making simple meals.
Soon, she brought over a large bowl of noodles, topped with three poached eggs.
Lin Yi dug in without hesitation, devouring the food in big mouthfuls.
In less than three minutes, the massive bowl of noodles, nearly enough for three people, was completely gone.
“Are you full? Should I make some more?”
Caie Mitsui squatted beside him, her voice full of concern.
“I’m good.”
Lin Yi stood up and stretched, his body starting to feel warm and the fatigue fading away. His energy had restored about seventy percent.
“Where have you been these last few days? I was worried sick.”
“Spent three days underwater before I finally found a chance to come over tonight.”
“Three days underwater…”
Caie Mitsui’s beautiful eyes widened as she looked at Lin Yi incredulously.
She couldn’t fathom what it had been like for him to hide underwater for three whole days.
“What can I do to help next? I’ll do everything I can to get you back to China, no matter the cost.”
“I don’t need your help,” Lin Yi said:
“I came here tonight because I was starving and needed some food. I’m leaving as soon as dawn breaks.”
Caie Mitsui stared at Lin Yi, her eyes filled with a mix of hurt and bitterness.
“Do you not trust me, Mr. Lin Yi? Do you think I’ll betray you?”
Lin Yi chuckled helplessly.
“If I were worried about that, I wouldn’t have come tonight. But you might not be safe right now either.”
“Me, unsafe?”
“This situation is far more severe than you think. The people after me are smarter than you imagine. I suspect they’ve already figured out that the hijacker of the Ocean Symphony is me. It’s likely they’ve also pieced together the connection between us.”
Lin Yi added seriously:
“The reason they haven’t acted yet is because of your status here in Japan. Once they make up their minds, you’ll probably be investigated. You need to stay cautious and keep a distance from me for now.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Lin Yi, they wouldn’t dare do anything to me.”
“Don’t be so sure. At such a critical moment, being cautious never hurts,” Lin Yi said:
“Get me a vehicle and a driver. If Kenji Nakada is free, have him come along.”
“No problem, I’ll call him over,” Caie Mitsui replied:
“But how do you plan to leave Japan?”
“All air routes to China are blocked. I plan to take a cargo ship to Korea first, then figure out the rest. It’ll be much safer that way.”
Caie Mitsui nodded, “The cargo route from Hiroshima to Korea is the shortest. It minimizes the risks.”
Lin Yi agreed; his plans aligned perfectly with hers.
“I’ll pass on all the details to Kenji Nakada and have him fully assist you in leaving Japan.”
“I appreciate it.”
“It’s no trouble. Being able to help you is my honor.”
Lin Yi patted Caie Mitsui’s head gently, his eyes brimming with affection.
After a brief exchange, Caie Mitsui led Lin Yi to the bedroom.
With his stomach full, Lin Yi’s weariness overtook him, and he fell asleep in just a few minutes.
By around six in the morning, he suddenly sat up.
“Sleep a little longer; it’s still early,” Caie Mitsui said softly.
“I can’t sleep anymore. There’s work to be done.”
Lin Yi got out of bed and stretched. Though not fully rested, it was enough for him.
The two headed downstairs, where Kenji Nakada was already waiting for them in the living room.
The table was loaded with a hearty breakfast, all prepared for Lin Yi.
“Mr. Lin Yi.”
Kenji Nakada stood up to greet him.
“Thank you. Today, I need you to run another errand with me.”
“It’s an honor.” Kenji Nakada said:
“Being with someone like Mr. Lin Yi allows me to learn so much. I should be thanking you, not the other way around.”
Lin Yi patted his shoulder. “We’re old friends; no need for formalities.”
Caie Mitsui led Lin Yi to the dining table.
“Eat something before you go. You never know what might happen along the way.”
“You’re right.”
Lin Yi anticipated challenges on the road ahead and decided to fill up, knowing that missed meals could hinder his performance.
Half an hour later, Lin Yi finished his meal and left the house with Kenji Nakada.
“Nakada,” Caie Mitsui said quietly.
“Miss.”
“No matter what happens, you must ensure Mr. Lin Yi’s safety, even at the cost of your own life. That’s my only request.”
“Understood!”
Kenji Nakada bowed deeply, his expression resolute.
Caie Mitsui turned her gaze to Lin Yi, her eyes filled with tenderness.
“Mr. Lin Yi, who knows when we’ll meet again after this. When you can, please give me a call and let me know you’re safe.”
“I will.”
Lin Yi gently stroked her soft, flowing hair and planted a light kiss on her forehead.
“Take care. Keep things low-key for now. If there are any issues within your family, deal with them immediately. Don’t let anyone have anything on you.”
“Understood. I’ll handle it.”
“I’m leaving now. Take care of yourself.”
The two stepped outside and got into the waiting Alfa.
Caie Mitsui stood at the doorway, her gaze filled with reluctant longing.
A poignant lyric suddenly echoed in her mind:
Who can claim Fuji Mountain as theirs by the strength of love…
