After staying at Li Chuhan’s place until past ten o’clock, Lin Yi got up and left, not staying over for the night.

After getting his car, Lin Yi drove back home.

Planning to find some time to visit Wang Ying again.

It’s not busy lately, so it’s better to spread the love equally.

The next morning, when Lin Yi opened his eyes, he found Ji Qingyan was still sleeping.

Even though she goes to the company every day, it’s mostly based on her mood.

She’d stop by when she felt good, and if she didn’t feel well, she’d just stay at home, quite cozy and comfortable.

Seeing Ji Qingyan sleeping soundly, Lin Yi didn’t have the heart to disturb her, so he went back to sleep for a bit more, and both of them didn’t get up until past ten o’clock.

“It’s already past ten o’clock.”

Ji Qingyan opened her eyes, scratching her head and said lazily.

“Why are you getting up at this time too?”

“You were lying on my arm the whole time, and you have the nerve to say that?”

“Uh…” Ji Qingyan laughed embarrassedly, “I slept too comfortably, I didn’t notice, is everything okay at the substation?”

“I’m planning to quit, it was just for gaining some life experience after all, can’t keep doing it forever.”

“This case almost depressed you, I guessed you’re not in the mood to continue working at the substation.”

Although Ji Qingyan’s guess was not entirely accurate, the last case indeed had a significant impact on Lin Yi’s mood.

“Do you have any plans for today?” Ji Qingyan asked.

“Nothing much, just preparing to handle the resignation procedures and hand over the work, start well and end well.”

“You go handle your things; Tao Yuan and I have plans to check out an art exhibition, I bet you wouldn’t be interested, so go do your own stuff.”

“Sure.”

Both of them got out of bed, and just after washing up, He Yuanyuan arrived by car and even snagged a meal.

“What’s up?”

“Lin Bro, are you busy right now?”

“Not busy, what’s up?”

“My sister’s car got smashed, can you come over and have a look?”

“We’re at home.”

“Wait for me, I’m on my way.”

After hanging up with Wang Lu, Lin Yi turned the car around and headed to Wang Ying’s place.

Because he had the key, Lin Yi didn’t bother knocking.

He found the sisters sitting on the couch watching TV, and could hear their discussion.

Wang Ying was wearing a silk nightdress, her legs bent and resting on the coffee table, the hem of the nightdress flowing freely, revealing her slender legs and the lace trim of her underwear.

Seeing their state, Lin Yi breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed the issue wasn’t too serious.

“Lin Bro, you’re here.”

Seeing Lin Yi coming over, Wang Lu got off the couch and fetched him a pair of slippers, Wang Ying also came over in suit.

“She’s going to be the death of me, making such a fuss over nothing and dragging you here.”

“Someone smashed the car, isn’t that a big deal?” Lin Yi said with a smile:

“Besides, even if Lulu hadn’t called me, I was planning to come over in the next couple of days, so the timing worked out.”

Hearing this, Wang Ying cracked a pleased smile.

“Let’s talk about what actually happened, was it an accident or did someone do it on purpose?” Lin Yi asked.

“I guess it might be an accident; you don’t need to worry. It’s not a big deal.”

Lin Bro is here now, so drop the act,” Wang Lu said, gasping for breath:

“It’s definitely that damned guy. It can’t be anyone else.”

Lin Yi’s eyebrows furrowed, clearly implying there was more to it than met the eye. It seemed the situation might not be as simple as it appeared.

“Who are you talking about?”

“I’ll let my sister tell you. Just mentioning his name makes me sick.”

Subconsciously, Lin Yi looked towards Wang Ying, hoping to get an answer from her.

In response, Wang Ying’s expression seemed unnaturally tense.

“The person he’s talking about is my ex-husband.”

“Ex-husband?”

Lin Yi suddenly realized. He knew Wang Ying’s situation well, and now it didn’t seem strange to him anymore.

“Did he come to harass you?”

“His harassment has never stopped!” Wang Lu said viciously:

“Six months after the divorce, he started bothering my sister, asking her for money. Not manly at all, just disgusting.”

“Why didn’t you tell me about this?”

Seeing Lin Yi’s unhappy expression, Wang Ying was a bit scared.

“You’re usually busy, and I didn’t want to bother you. I thought I could handle him myself.”

“Did he come to bother you often after that?”

“He came a few times, but…”

“But what?” Lin Yi asked in a low voice.

After thinking for a moment, Wang Ying said softly, “It’s been somewhat frequent these last six months.”

“When was the last time?”

“The day before yesterday. He wanted to borrow twenty thousand yuan from me, but I didn’t give it to him.”

“You should have done that long ago,” Wang Lu said indignantly.

“It’s not as simple as you think. He’s gone mad, and it’s bad for everyone if he starts harassing our family.”

Lin Yi understood Wang Ying’s approach. As an adult, putting her parents first was entirely justifiable.

“This case is basically clear. Unless there’s a surprise, it was probably him,” Lin Yi said:

“Later, I’ll check the surveillance footage. It should be easy to find the culprit.”

“I’m going with you. We have to catch him!”

“Fine.”

Wang Lu went back into the house to change clothes, and Lin Yi said seriously:

“Next time something like this happens, call me immediately.”

“Got it,” Wang Ying purred as she held Lin Yi’s hand:

“Don’t be mad. I’ll make it up to you somehow, make sure you’re satisfied.”

Lin Yi was powerless against Wang Ying’s voluptuous physique, which indeed made it hard to resist.

Just then, Wang Ying’s phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.

Lin Yi thought she would hang up but saw her face turn sour.

“What’s wrong? Whose call is it?”

“It’s his.”

“Answer the call first and see what he has to say.”

“Okay.”

If Wang Ying had faced this call alone, she might have been nervous, but with Lin Yi there, she wasn’t afraid of anything.

As soon as she answered the call, Wang Ying switched on speakerphone.

“Why are you calling me!”

“Don’t be so cold, we were husband and wife once,” Song Wenhai said teasingly:

“I’m calling for no special reason. I heard your car broke down. Just wanted to see if you needed help fixing it, otherwise, it might get scrapped and that would be a bigger loss.”
