Chapter 253: No Meaning to Life

“Rihannan!”

The person that opened the door and stepped in was his mother, the queen mother. Igor, surprised by her sudden entrance, hurriedly tried to leave the room. He saw Mrs. Cessley standing behind the queen mother with a very embarrassed expression. Mrs. Cessley shook her head.

“I tried to stop her but she was just so stubborn that…”

The queen mother then immediately went towards Rihannan who was sitting on the chair. Rihannan’s face was completely pale white as she looked back at the queen mother. The queen mother had no idea that the wrath and shock that was all over Rihannan’s face was because of what she had just heard from Igor, as the queen mother reached out her hand towards Rihannan.

“I heard the news that you were kidnapped on the way to the royal villa. My goodness, your face… Are you alright, my child?”

However, before her hand could even reach Rihanann, Igor stepped in between and stopped it. Igor hurriedly spoke as he blocked Rihanann from the queen mother’s view.

“Have the talk later. For now, please leave.”

“Move aside. I have to see for myself if Rihannan and the baby are safe and sound.”

“Mother!” Igor growled.

“Why did you do it?” That voice was from the mouth of someone standing behind Igor. Rihannan slowly rose from her chair. As her tear filled eyes lit up with fire, a wrathful scream came out sounding almost like a shriek. “Just why did you do that to me!? What did I ever do wrong to you!?”

Igor embraced Rihannan as she stepped towards the queen mother. She tried with all her strength to push him away, but it was no use against his tight restraint of his arms.

Seeing Rihannan’s expression, the queen mother could do nothing but show a stunned expression back at her. She couldn’t understand this current situation at all.

“Rihannan, what are you saying? What have I ever done to y—”

“As I had lost my own mother, you said that you shall be my mother instead from now on. I believed in those words completely. I couldn’t bring myself to doubt you even for a second because of how much I trusted you! Yet you still crushed me beneath your foot, did you even feel any sort of remorse or guilt for what you’ve done? Just what was I to you in terms of existence!?”

Igor turned Rihannan’s head and pulled it deep into his chest. He then pleaded earnestly to the queen mother. No, it was actually closer to begging.

“Please get out of this room for now. Mother, please!”

The queen mother quietly closed her lips hearing his words. Seeing as how Rihannan was in a deep panicked state, she realized that she was in no position to be stubborn in wanting to see her.

Once the queen mother left the room, Rihannan felt her strength slowly leave her body. While burying her face in his chest, she sobbed heavily, painfully.

“Did my previous life in the past have any meaning to live at all?”

Those words stabbed deep within Igor’s heart. He wished to be able to tell her that she was the most important being to him more than anyone else in that time, but it was not something a man who had practically ignored her to the point of leading her to her death was supposed to say. And she already heard the truth that most of the people she ever had known in that period had all turned away from her troubles, so his words wouldn’t help much.

“So now I’m confirming yet again that my life had no meaning at all…”

Rihannan’s voice slowly started to fade out. Her eyes slid closed, and soon her body started to become limp.

“Rihannan?”

Her forehead was drenched in cold sweat. Her face was pale as if it had no blood flow, and looked as if she would die any second. Igor yelled out loud as he held Rihannan’s body.

“Call for a doctor. Immediately!”
