Chapter 249: Her Reasons

“You brought all of this to yourself!” The queen mother swatted him away as she wrathfully yelled back. “It was you who put me in that situation and blocked every other possible exit around me. Have you ever thought about how a cornered woman could bite back at it’s hunter?”

“…Just what do you mean by that?” As he mumbled in a shocked state, the queen mother kept snapping at him in a frightening manner.

“The doctor said that you wouldn’t be able to wake up again. That even if you were to wake up by a miracle, you have suffered a large blow to the head already so that it would be difficult for you to carry on your normal life anymore. What else could I have done in that state? In that state where everything will be ruined if you were to die, what else could I have done!?”

If Igor had died, then the crown would have gone back to Count Clovis. That may not have been the case if Rihannan’s child was still alive, but wasn’t.

“Is that why you had co-opted with Leticia to do all that to her?”

“Leticia came to me directly. She said that she had your baby inside of her.”

Igor let out an exhausted laughter. He couldn’t believe it at all.

“My child? I’ve never had intercourse with her even once, so how could she have a baby with me?”

“I already knew that it wasn’t your child. But that wasn’t important. Leticia was actually in an impregnated state, and the truth was that the whole world knew about the rumours that you took her in to make her your mistress, and be unfaithful to Rihannan.”

Igor’s eyebrows jerked. He now understood what kind of plan the queen mother was making.

“Everyone would think that Leticia’s child is actually yours. The information about who the actual father of her child is doesn’t matter. If a child was born from a woman that was having an illicit affair with the king, then everyone woulda*sume right away that the seed was from the king. But the problem was…”

“That even if the child was to be born, it would be an illegitimate child.”

“That’s right. Even if everyone agrees that it was from your seed that the child is born, they would lose the right to succeed the throne if they were born as an illegitimate child. Therefore I had no choice but to do that to Rihannan…” The queen mother covered her face with shivering hands. “There was no other method that I had if I were to make sure that Leticia became the queen as fast as possible. To do that, I had to frame Rihannan with a crime so that she would be ousted from her status as the queen.”

“So that’s why even though it was you who had given national secrets to Chrichton, you framed it as if Rihannan had done it. You did it so that you can put her in jail and even force her to drink poison.”

At this point, Igor’s voice was very low and dangerous. However, the queen mother still didn’t realize it as she continued speaking while shaking her head.

“No. I didn’t do the poisoning. It was Leticia who had done it without my consent after she saw that you were waking up. Igor, please believe me!”

“Believe you, huh…”

A quiet laughter rang throughout the room. It was an extremely sinister laughter that was devoid of all emotion. The queen mother then raised her head. She saw what kind of expression he was making. His icy cold face only had an extreme amount of hatred bubbling underneath it. That was definitely not a face of a son looking at their own mother. It was the eyes of someone looking at their enemy.
