Chapter 935: Chapter 935: Attracted a Wave of Hatred
Huo Lin looked at his phone, his eyes gradually deepening.
He did not rush to check it, put down his phone, and continued to discuss Fu Yun’s condition with the doctor.
Only after the doctor had left did he turn around to leave.
Jiang Jing walked up to him with a submissive attitude and greeted, “Mr. Huo, I came to see my godmother.”
Understanding her place, she had stepped aside when she saw Huo Lin discussing Fu Yun’s condition with the doctor. Even though she recognized Fu Yun as her godmother, she did not take the opportunity to call Huo Lin ‘brother.’
Such an observant girl made Huo Lin take an extra look at her.
But it was just a glance; he then withdrew his gaze, responded indifferently with a grunt, and left without further ado.
Jiang Jing watched Huo Lin’s retreating back, her smile remaining until Huo Lin disappeared around the corner, then the smile on her lips fell.
A flicker of unwillingness flashed in her eyes.
Qiao Yun was surrounded by Pei Yao, Li Hanzhou, Shen Qi, Xu Fang, and many others she did not recognize, each of them a favored son of heaven.
Yet, she couldn’t even catch Huo Lin’s attention.
Jiang Jing felt stifled, took a deep breath, suppressed the dissatisfaction in her heart, and pushed open the door to Fu Yun’s room.
When Jiang Jing entered, she just saw Fu Yun throwing some Western medicine into the trash bin. She paused her steps and pretended not to see, walking over to Fu Yun’s side.
Fu Yun did not explain why she did not take the medicine; she felt she wasn’t sick and didn’t need it, unwilling to be treated as a patient.
“Jingjing, come sit here and chat with me,” said Fu Yun.
Fu Yun grabbed Jiang Jing’s hand, pulling her to sit beside her, and complained, “Your brother is really something, he says he’s worried about my safety and doesn’t let me go out. I think he just wants to keep me confined.”
Jiang Jing thought, if not restrained, she probably would have run to Pei Yao by now.
In a softened voice, she replied, “Godmother, you are Lin’s only relative, it’s natural for him to worry about you.”
The word ‘only’ brought a smile to Fu Yun’s face.
Since her husband’s death, she and Huo Lin had been each other’s only relatives.
The rest of the Huo Family didn’t matter to her.
But now, Fu Yun’s feelings towards Huo Lin were complicated; she hated that he agreed to Qiao Yun’s conditions and yet loved this son, nearly driving her to a break.
Jiang Jing knew what Fu Yun liked to hear, and smartly said with a smile, “By the way, I just ran into Su Qingqing.”
It took a moment for Fu Yun to remember who that was, “Is she Qiao Yun’s cousin, right?”
“Yes,” Jiang Jing responded like a younger family member caring for an elder, soothingly adding, “She told me some things about Director Pei.”
Fu Yun’s interest was piqued, urging Jiang Jing, “What did she say? Tell me.”
Jiang Jing said regretfully, “Actually, she didn’t say much, she doesn’t know a lot, but she told me that Qiao Yun and Pei Yao have a very good relationship, and that Pei Yao listens to Qiao Yun a lot.”
The latter comment was made up by Jiang Jing, not knowing that she unintentionally got it right – Pei Yao indeed listened a lot to Qiao Yun.
Mentioning Qiao Yun’s name made Fu Yun somewhat impatient, “Why bring her up.”
Qiao Yun had truly ruined her.
Jiang Jing shared similar resentments, “I just don’t understand, if she and Pei Yao are so close, why can’t she wish him well. If it were me, I would definitely hope he could reconnect with his family, considering you are the only relative left beside him now.”
This statement delighted Fu Yun greatly.
Jiang Jing said, “Clearly she could have persuaded him, but instead she adds fuel to the fire, insisting on turning Pei Yao into your enemy.”
Fu Yun felt troubled inside.
If it weren’t for Qiao Yun’s condition, her relationship with Pei Yao might not have gotten so bad.
Fu Yun said with a headache, “I really don’t know how Jiujiu got to know her.”
Jiang Jing’s expression was somewhat strange.
Fu Yun patted her hand, “If you have something to say, just say it.”
“I just suddenly thought of Qiao Yun being Professor Qiao’s student, and Professor Qiao is the head of Tianqi Research Institute…” Jiang Jing said softly: “Tianqi and Huo Family are rivals, it would benefit Tianqi if Huo Family encounters trouble, right?”
Fu Yun’s expression turned grim upon hearing this.
Although Qiao Yun’s actions were wrong, they were ultimately for Jiujiu’s sake.
Now, Jiang Jing’s words made her unable to help but suspect that Qiao Yun was using Jiujiu to target the Huo Family.
The thought that this might be the reality made Fu Yun so angry that her chest heaved, “Jiujiu has been deceived! I have to tell Jiujiu, where is my phone… where is my phone…”
Fu Yun’s eyes gradually reddened as she kept looking for her phone.
Jiang Jing slightly moved her brows and lowered her voice, “Godmother, even if you tell Pei Ya, he would only think you are trying to sow discord, he won’t listen to you.”
Fu Yun looked panicked, “You’re right, he simply doesn’t believe I’m trying to be good to him.”
Jiang Jing echoed, “He trusts Qiao Yun more.”
Fu Yun felt sad and cried out in anguish, “Why doesn’t he trust me? Why does he trust an outsider? Aren’t I his family?”
She couldn’t help but shift her hatred towards Qiao Yun, thinking it would be better if she just disappeared, so no one could drive a wedge between her and Jiujiu.
Jiang Jing observed Fu Yun’s expression, her mouth slightly twitched with satisfaction as she had successfully drawn hatred towards Qiao Yun.
Although she doesn’t know what effect this wave of hatred will have on Qiao Yun right now.
But as long as Pei Ya keeps rejecting Fu Yun, the words she said to Fu Yun today will become more effective.
A look of self-disgust flashed in Jiang Jing’s eyes; she’s becoming increasingly unscrupulous.
But she has not thought about changing, because ever since she acknowledged Fu Yun as her godmother, she tasted the sweetness of being unscrupulous.
Fu Yun suddenly grasped Jiang Jing’s hand, repeatedly urging, “Jingjing, you must do well, you have to win over Qiao Yun in this exchange competition.”
Fu Yun still had some sense, not enough to suddenly do something to Qiao Yun.
But that did not prevent her from letting Jiang Jing give Qiao Yun a little warning.
“Godmother, I will try my hardest.”
Jiang Jing sneered.
Qiao Yun being great can never surpass Future Alliance, she must crush Qiao Yun thoroughly this time, making Qiao Yun bow to her.
She just refused to believe that Qiao Yun could always hog the limelight.
…
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Huo Lin returned to his room and opened his laptop, clicked on an email in his inbox.
It was about Qiao Yun’s personal profile.
He narrowed his eyes, his expression turning solemn as he carefully read it.
Qiao Yun was actually very low-profile, but Pei Ya’s attitude towards her felt strange, hence his intuition told him that Qiao Yun was no ordinary person and might be hiding some secrets; that’s why he had her investigated for safety reasons.
But unexpectedly, this information came a bit late.
His subordinates were capable people; however, it took such a long time just to investigate a young girl.
This made him even surer that his intuition might not have been wrong.
