Chapter 57: He’s Not Happy

As the man finished, he picked up the spinach that she had given him and put it in her bowl. “Come, let’s replenish some iron in your body. This way the baby will be healthy.”

Su Bei felt that she must have done something terrible in her past life to have met Hua Jinan.

“You mean, other than for the purpose of giving birth to a child, you will never lay a finger on another woman?”

Hua Jinan froze, then raised his head to look at her. As if thinking about something, he said in a distracted manner, “What do you think?”

Su Bei laughed cunningly. “If that’s the case, I can consider marrying you.”

As the man heard this, his eyes smiled, and he seemed happy.

He nodded. “Alright, that’s decided then.”

After their meal, the man insisted on sending her home.

It was warm inside the car. As the blanket was covering her, Su Bei felt drowsy.

The man slowly stopped the car at the roadside and leaned her seat backward so that she could sleep better.

As time passed and Su Bei woke up again, the sky was already dark.

She looked at the man outside the car in shock. He leaned against the car with one leg, his gaze fixated across the horizon as if trying to remember something.

A thin veil of smoke surrounded his fingers that slowly rose up to the sky, which collided with the clouds up above.

Su Bei looked at the blanket covering her and straightened her posture.

This man can be quite thoughtful sometimes.

However, she realized today that his figure looked exceptionally beautiful.

Under the sun, it contrasted the outer lines of his face in a flattering way. His cloudy eyes hid his emotions that nobody else understood.

Suddenly, the phone in the car rang.

His phone was placed in front of the steering wheel, and it was a model that she had never seen before.

Su Bei wanted to tell him, but he had disappeared from her line of vision at that moment.

The phone stopped ringing and rang again.

Su Bei flipped the phone. “Yan’er” was the name that showed up on the screen.

Yan’er. Su Bei felt like she had heard that name before.

As she answered the call, a soft voice came from the phone. “An, I’m at White Elephant Plaza. Can you come over?”

It was a woman’s voice. Upon listening, one could conclude that the woman was an elegant, beautiful lady.

“An, are you there? Or… you’re not coming?” The woman continued talking by herself, and crying sobs could be heard in her voice.

She’s crying!

“I’m sorry, he’s not there! I will tell him everything,” Su Bei said.

The other side of the call fell silent, long enough for Su Bei to assume that she had already hung up the phone. Then, she continued, “Are you his girlfriend?”

At that moment, Su Bei hesitated.

Her first instinct was to deny. She had never accepted him as a partner anyway.

However, he was the father of her baby.

The relationship between them was very complicated.

If he was so desperate to marry her, then his intentions must be a sincere one.

“Sorry to interrupt!” the woman on the phone finally said and hung up the phone.

At that moment, the man got in the car with a bowl of sago dessert that was heated up.

“What are you doing?” He looked at his phone which was in her hand.

Su Bei passed his phone to him and said calmly, “Somebody called you.”

The man looked at his phone and his face immediately turned ugly.

“She seemed like she was crying,” Su Bei added.

“Why did you answer the call?” He was not happy about it and he did not try to hide it.
