Chapter 41: Him

The cold winter wind blew against her. It was only after she got out that Su Bei realized that it was snowing.

Qin Zhong had opened the car door for her. Su Bei did not get into the car and her voice was icy cold. “I want to take a walk by myself. Please go back and don’t follow me. Consider it as a request from me!”

Qin Zhong was stunned. As he recovered his senses, Su Bei had already left.

Su Bei could not explain the reason why she was angry today. Whether it was because of Qin Mosheng’s stubbornness or his words.

Did he really voice what I was worried about?

Su Bei shook her head. Impossible, I no longer have any feelings for Zuo Xiao.

She would definitely not have any mutual feelings for him anymore, let alone love!

She stopped and raised her head. The icy cold snow landed on her face.

The restlessness in her heart slowly subsided.

Su Bei breathed in deeply and prepared to reach out her hand to stop a taxi, but then recognized a familiar figure in front of her.

As she focused her vision and looked towards it, she immediately lost her composure. Behind her, Qin Zhong was following her in the car.

Su Bei immediately got into the car. “Don’t drive,” she told him.

Outside the car window, a large figure walked past them, walking and looking around as if trying to find someone.

Su Bei’s heartbeat increased.

He was still that handsome even after six years.

“Susu, if you and I are not married after six years, let’s marry each other!”

The words he said lingered in her ears.

However, they were not the people they once were.

The man looked around for a while. After not finding whoever it was he was looking for, he got into his car and left.

“Let’s go,” Su Bei said softly.

Su Bei shook her head. Why would he be?

He would have long ago forgotten about me!

As she reached home, her mother was waiting for her.

“Mom, I’m back,” Su Bei immediately realized something was not right at home.

“Beibei, come here and sit down. We need to talk.”

Su Bei was anxious. Her mom being that serious meant that something grave had happened.

She sat beside her grandmother. “Mom, please tell me.”

Yao Guizhen breathed in deeply and said, “I heard from the grapevine that there will be a new governor for the province, and he would take office starting tomorrow.”

Su Bei hadn’t really been paying attention to the news recently. Now that her mother mentioned it, she immediately understood what she meant.

“Mom, I’ll go with you tomorrow.” Su Bei’s expression was serious.

Yao Guizhen nodded. “Alright, we’ll go tomorrow morning.”

“Mom, I think I’ll go this time. Beibei Isn’t looking too good recently. I think she shouldn’t be going.”

Yao Guizhen looked at her son. “Can you kneel down with your legs on the ground?” she asked her son with a cold tone.

“Alright,” Su Yu said.

“What do you mean? The people there won’t know any of us. If you can’t kneel down for one hour straight, then better let Beibei come with me.”

“Mom…” Su Yu was not content about the decision.

Su Bei looked at his brother and smiled. “Brother, let’s put it at that. I’ll accompany Mom, so you prepare something good for us tonight.”

Su Yu’s face was full of pain. “Alright.”
