Seeing as an agreement could not possibly be made, Su Bei started showing her true expressions. “Let me tell you this: you’d better stop pursuing me. I’ll not bow to you, and I’ll never be your bride.”

As she finished, Su Bei wanted to rush out quickly.

However, the bodyguards blocked her path. Su Bei unrolled her sleeves and said to the bodyguards, “Unless you all kill me, don’t stand in my way.”

The bodyguards refused to move as if they did not hear what she had to say.

Su Bei took a few steps back, readying herself to rush through them.

And then, she really rushed towards them. She smashed into the human wall, and as a result, bounced back like a spring.

Su Bei rubbed her bruised nose and tears almost fell from her eyes.

She had never been through anything like that before in her lifetime.

Su Bei was really angry. She turned around and shouted towards the man, “You think you’re all mighty and powerful just because you belong to the mafia?

“You think you can force someone to marry you just because you’re from the mafia? I’m not scared. I’ll never marry you even if I were to die because of it!”

Nobody ever talked to him like that. Suddenly, the room became deadly silent, and only the sound of the compressor could be heard.

Everyone was waiting for the man to speak. It was as if waiting for an omen that either meant life or death.

Su Bei was frightened after she finished speaking. She could sacrifice herself, but there was still the issue of her family!

The man was calm. There was no sign of happiness or anger in his expression, just a pair of blank eyes that looked like black holes.

“Mister Hua, do you want to bring her back?” one of the bodyguards asked.

Su Bei shuddered. Sh*t! Were they serious about killing people?

“Release her.” The man’s deep voice shocked everyone in the vicinity.

Especially Su Bei. She could not believe it at all.

The bodyguards scattered, and a smile appeared on the man’s face. He got up and walked beside Su Bei. “Why? You changed your mind?”

“No way I’m gonna do that!” Su Bei ran out of the room immediately.

The man looked at the woman who ran out frantically, and a smile appeared across his face.

She dared to glare at him!

However, he wanted no one else but her.

Just as Lin Chuxia was about to break the door open, Su Bei was inside her room fast asleep while being covered in a blanket.

Before the door even opened, Lin Chuxia’s voice could be heard. “Su Bei, if you keep dilly-dallying, I’m gonna kick this door open!”

Su Bei absentmindedly climbed out of bed and opened the door. She yawned and said, “Why don’t you try since the door belongs to your home?”

Lin Chuxia gritted her teeth. “Why do you have the door locked in the middle of the day?”

Su Bei gave Lin Chuxia a bottle of iced mineral water. She guessed that she might need to cool down a bit.

As expected, Lin Chuxia opened the cap and downed half of the bottle.

The bottle was left on the table, and Lin Chuxia looked at Su Bei with a horrified look. “Beibei, nothing happened to you, right?”

Su Bei shook her head. “Nothing.”

Lin Chuxia patted herself and breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank God that nothing happened to you. You really scared me to death there. You know, when you walked into the operation room, there were a bunch of men in black in the hospital shooing all of us away. Even the chief of the hospital had to apologize in person. Luckily, you were inside the operating room, or else I’d be scared to death with your gutsy behavior!”

Su Bei rolled her eyes. She had been inside too, and she just happened to not die of fright.

At that moment, Lin Chuxia placed her gaze on Su Bei’s face. “Beibei, I still have yet to ask you: was your operation successful? Did you lose a lot of blood? Do you need me to make you some chicken soup?”

Su Bei let out a long sigh and curled her body on the sofa. “Chuxia, don’t bother with the chicken soup.”

Lin Chuxia listened attentively and said, “I’ll make anything you want. Just say the word and I’ll have it ready for you.”

“Then why don’t you boil me for soup?!” Su Bei buried her head in her arms.

Lin Chuxia was shocked, then realized something was not right with Su Bei’s behavior. She squatted beside her and said urgently, “Beibei, what happened? Could it be that the operation had after effects, and you won’t be able to have another baby? Or could it be due to the problems of your womb, which made you unable to give birth anymore after terminating a baby?”
