Su Bei smiled in exasperation. He got to experience one of the rare moments where she truly lost it in the end.

Su Bei looked at him with a stern face. “It’s my fault for what happened today, and I’m willing to compensate for the damage. You can give me a lump sum, but I won’t be able to pay you at once. I’ll pay you back monthly.”

Su Bei did not even flinch. Her confident tone even shocked Hua Jinan.

There could not possibly be another woman as stupid as her.

The man focused his gaze on her, then slowly opened his mouth and spoke with a deep voice. “Just give birth to the child. This is the only thing I want.”

He had all the money in the world.

Only a wife and child were missing from his life!

Su Bei’s heart suddenly sank. She could not determine whether he was all talk, like all the other rich folks.

Her expression was tense, and her black eyes were staring into him sharply. “I’m willing to pay back my debt, but I will never betray myself!”

As she finished, she prepared to walk past him and leave.

Her arm was suddenly grabbed from behind. “Let me go!” she shouted.

Hua Jinan frowned at her. “The child has to be born regardless of what you think. Su Bei, why do you need to be so stubborn? I’ll give you food and shelter. Think about how many people would die for a life like this!”

“So what?” Su Bei replied coldly.

Hua Jinan frowned and stared at Su Bei.

So what?

Madam Hua, the title that so many women had dreamed of.

It meant nothing to her.

Her dismissive laughter could be seen reflected in the man’s eyes. With a firm tone, she said, “I don’t care!”

As she finished, she tried to push away his hand, her eyes full of hatred.

However, she could not seem to loosen his grip on her arm, however hard she struggled.

Finally, she had no choice but to look at him. “Did you not hear me clear enough? I will return you the money. As for the child, don’t even think about it.”

The man looked at her sternly. He held her hand even tighter. “Su Bei, where does this arrogance come from?”

In his lifetime, she was the only woman who ever rejected him.

Su Bei met his eyes. “Just because I’m Su Bei!” she said, without any sign of retreat.

The man smiled. “A nobody? A salary slave?”

“Yes. I’ve no money nor status. However, I will never marry into a rich family! I hate them. I hate all of you with your capitalist mindsets.” The woman shoved her face towards him, her eyes filled with determination.

“You will never marry into a rich family? A capitalist mindset?” He gently repeated her words.

He approached her slowly, and Su Bei started to panic. Would this guy really go so far as to kill someone?

That’s impossible. He still wanted the baby inside of me!

As he closed their distance, she backed off.

At last, her back touched his car.

He hugged himself tightly with one hand and wrapped his other hand around her.

They were so close they could smell each other’s breaths.

Su Bei was panicked. His smell lingered in her nose. She could not believe that she remembered his smell after just one night.

It smelled of tea and tranquility.

In contrast, she was anything but calm at that moment.

Her arm was held tightly to his chest. The close contact between them reminded her of that one night.

The memories that she thought had faded became clearer again.

Hua Jinan spoke softly beside his ear. “In your body, there’s a baby that belongs to the capitalist and greedy me. So, quit even thinking about cutting ties with me!”

“Do you really think that I would have no other way, even if the hospitals are not willing to operate on me?” Su Bei replied coldly.

His cold breath touched her neck, and she turned her head to the other side.

Hua Jinan’s expression darkened. How dare she threaten me like that!

He pulled even closer to her, giving her no space to hide. “Try it!”

“You think I’m too scared?” Su Bei showed no sign of backing down.
