Chapter 987: Chapter 987 Shu Yu Laughs Loudly

Ding Yuehua was furious. She had seen the blueprints before. While she didn’t fully understand the craft of porcelain-making, she could tell they were quite complex and must have required Shu Yu’s meticulous effort.

Just because the blueprints were taken by Lu Sanzhu, Ms. Mei destroyed them without hesitation. Such cruelty!

It was Shu Yu who ended up getting implicated.

Ding Yuehua’s eyes turned icy cold as she demanded sharply, “Sister-in-law, what good does this do you? Those blueprints were given by a customer–they’re part of a business deal. By destroying the blueprints, you’ve made it impossible for the Fan family to deliver the goods, tarnishing the Fan family’s reputation!”

The Fan family’s business?

Not necessarily.

Ms. Mei raised her eyes to glance at Shu Yu and sighed, “Third sister-in-law, you’ve misunderstood me. I did indeed look at those blueprints, but they were sitting there on the desk, filthy and messy. The drawings were chaotic and didn’t look like anything related to porcelain. I thought the workers were scribbling nonsense. But the kiln factory is a serious workplace for porcelain-making, not a place for workers to loaf around and waste time. As the Eldest Young Mistress of the Fan family, it’s my responsibility to supervise and discipline them. Unimportant things like that shouldn’t even be found in the kiln factory, right?”

Being the Eldest Young Mistress of the Fan family, Ms. Mei knew that most of the family’s assets would eventually belong to the Eldest Young Master. Naturally, she had her own people stationed within the kiln factory. As such, she quickly learned how the third young master treated those blueprints.

Ms. Mei found it odd and asked a few more questions. She was told the blueprints seemed to have been given by the third young madam’s friend, who needed them urgently but wasn’t ordering in large quantities–just a few pieces.

Well then, after some digging, Ms. Mei figured out that this wasn’t some major client’s order.

She and Ding Yuehua didn’t get along; everyone in the Fan family knew that.

Especially recently, after Ms. Mei had Hua Xian sold off, her husband had been ignoring her constantly. Meanwhile, Lu Sanzhu and his wife, even after half a year, still behaved like newlyweds, glued to each other all the time.

How could she feel happy about that?

Now that she saw a chance to trip them up, she didn’t waste it. Since it wasn’t an important client’s major order and merely helping out a friend, destroying the blueprints would force Lu Sanzhu and his wife to face their friend’s wrath.

The only thing that surprised Ms. Mei was that this very friend had shown up today, accidentally discovering the truth behind the destroyed blueprints.

Not that it mattered. It only served to prove that Lu Sanzhu and his wife were incompetent, unable to even protect two measly sheets of blueprints.

Though Ms. Mei didn’t know what was on the blueprints, she could tell they appeared intricate. Remaking them wouldn’t be easy.

With that thought, Ms. Mei’s confidence grew. “Third sister-in-law, you really can’t blame me for this. Why didn’t you arrange for someone to properly guard them? Besides, the drawings truly looked terrible–like a child’s random scrawls. Any normal person would have taken them for worthless drafts, right?”

Ding Yuehua was utterly shocked by her shamelessness. She had always thought Ms. Mei was unreasonable; now she felt she was both foolish and malicious.

“Sister-in-law, you’ve made a mistake and refuse to repent. You…”

“Third son’s wife!” Ms. Yu interjected sharply, “She’s your sister-in-law. Is this how you speak to her?”

Ding Yuehua wanted to scold Ms. Yu too, but just then, Shu Yu suddenly started laughing.

Her laughter was neither loud nor disruptive, yet crisp enough to drown out the commotion in the courtyard.

Everyone turned toward her, only to see Shu Yu laughing uncontrollably, with tears nearly streaming from her eyes.

Ding Yuehua’s heart sank–could it be that Shu Yu had been pushed over the edge?
