Chapter 944: Chapter 944: Lu Sanzhu Bargains
Ying Xi quickened his pace, and by the time Third Lu had thought of what he believed was a brilliant name and lifted his head to speak, Ying Xi was already ten meters away from him.
He immediately felt disgruntled, “Hey, little girl, I’m calling you here. I’m your Third Lord, and you dare disrespect me like this, I…”
“Third Uncle, what’s the matter? Hurry up, we’re going to check out the manor.”
Third Lu instantly went silent, hurriedly catching up to Yu and saying, “Yu, what do you think of this place?”
Initially, he followed enthusiastically alongside Shu Yu, listening attentively and nodding occasionally to show agreement, offering his opinions here and there. But after checking out three sites and feeling dissatisfied with all of them, his interest waned.
“It’s alright. Let’s talk to the owner first.”
As they spoke, Shu Yu followed Daniu and arrived at the manor’s entrance.
The manor was guarded by a middle-aged couple who had met Daniu just the day before. Knowing they were here to discuss a property sale, they quickly invited them in.
Shu Yu soon met the owner, who surprisingly turned out to be quite young, looking around twenty-five or twenty-six.
Seeing Daniu, he immediately approached, “Brother Lu, you’re here. You said you’d go back and think about it. So, what’s the verdict? Are you interested in buying?”
Daniu stepped aside and introduced them, “This is my cousin. She’s the one looking to buy. Yu, this is Young Master Jiang.”
Young Master Jiang was momentarily taken aback. He knew Daniu was helping someone find a property, and seeing the group arrive, he had assumed the buyer was the man standing behind–Third Lu.
Unexpectedly, it turned out to be the young lady standing right before him? She doesn’t look old at all…
Young Master Jiang furrowed his brows. Though he was eager to sell the manor, he still wanted to clarify things. “Lady Lu, what do you think of my manor? Are you planning to buy it?”
“I’ve already taken a look around. I’m definitely interested. However, I need to know Young Master Jiang’s asking price or any specific terms. If it’s suitable, we’ll agree; if not, I’ll continue searching.”
Seeing she wasn’t joking, Young Master Jiang pursed his lips and held up a number.
“Eighteen hundred taels?” Shu Yu asked.
Third Lu gasped audibly, “That’s way too expensive.”
Young Master Jiang immediately defended, “It’s already very cheap. The land around here spans over a hundred acres, and this manor itself covers three to four acres. It was built just five years ago and still looks brand-new. Eighteen hundred taels is a very fair price.”
Third Lu couldn’t help but click his tongue. Over a hundred acres of land?
Does Yu really need that much?
Still, the house itself was undeniably quite new. He had checked it out earlier upon entering; the size was indeed substantial.
But eighteen hundred taels was still exorbitant! Keep in mind, the Emperor had gifted Yu gold that converted to just two thousand taels of silver. If she spent almost all of it on this manor, would Yu still have any money left?
She had just borrowed two hundred taels from him recently. Surely, she wouldn’t need to borrow money again before she’d even spent the first loan, right?
Thinking of this, Third Lu immediately felt anxious.
No way. They must bargain–at least cut two hundred taels from the price.
Thus, before Shu Yu had a chance to respond, Third Lu shook his head and said, “That’s still pricey. Look at your fields; there’s not a crop planted anywhere. They look nothing better than wasteland. In our village, a top-grade acre of fertile land is twelve taels of silver. A hundred acres would only amount to twelve hundred.”
Shu Yu couldn’t help but glance at him sideways. Well done, Third Uncle. He didn’t usually seem like someone who’d read much, but his skill at calculating silver was impressive.
