Chapter 943: Chapter 943: He is Third Master Lu
Shu Yu’s eyes lit up with surprise and delight; she liked this place.
She walked around, with Daniu following behind her and explaining, “The main issue is that this place is a bit far from the county town. There’s no village ahead and no shop behind. If we plant sunflowers here, will it attract visitors?”
He still remembered that Yu once said that large patches of sunflowers, when planted, would be a stunning golden sight, sure to capture the attention of those wealthy young masters and ladies.
But it was so far away. Would anyone even know about such a beautiful spot? Would anyone come?
Shu Yu smiled, “It *is* far from the county town.” She turned her head to glance at Third Lu, who was standing pretty far back and presumably couldn’t hear their conversation. Then she added, “But it’s close to the black market.”
Daniu froze for a moment before quickly catching on. That’s right–this place was only about four li away from the black market.
And what was the black market? It was a place those rich folks frequented, opening every so often. If anyone from that crowd passed by their sunflower field, they were bound to see this beautiful view.
These people were well-connected and influential. Even a casual word of praise when they returned home would serve as free advertising.
Thinking of it this way, this location was practically prime real estate.
Shu Yu wandered around the area a bit more and noticed some houses in the distance, though not many. They were likely where the original tenants had lived.
As for water sources, they seemed to be in that same area. It wasn’t exactly far but not particularly close either.
At the very least, without modern conveniences like water pumps, fetching water would rely solely on manual labor, which undoubtedly wouldn’t be easy.
Fortunately, sunflowers didn’t have very demanding growth requirements.
Seeing that she appeared satisfied, Daniu promptly grinned. “Should we meet the owner of this manor? Yesterday, I told him we’d be coming today, and he agreed to wait for us here on the manor grounds.”
“Let’s go see him.”
Having surveyed enough, Shu Yu decided to talk with the manor’s owner.
She turned and called out to Third Lu, “Third Uncle, walk faster.”
Third Lu had been busy sizing up Ying Xi, who was beside him. Earlier in the mule carriage, he hadn’t said much in front of Yu, but now that the two ahead weren’t paying attention, he took the chance to sidle closer to the mule-cart-leading Ying Xi.
So, this was the servant Yu had bought? He didn’t look very old.
The boy certainly had good looks. For Yu to bring him along, it meant he presented well. However, his attitude wasn’t great.
After all, he was Yu’s Third Uncle–a dignified Lord of the Lu family, wasn’t he? Yet this boy’s expressionless face seemed to be giving him attitude. This wouldn’t do; he needed some proper training and instruction.
Thinking this, Third Lu cleared his throat. “What’s your name?”
Ying Xi looked puzzled. Hadn’t the young lady just called him by his name–several times, in fact? Surely, this man couldn’t have missed it.
Nevertheless, she replied honestly, “Ying Xi.”
“Ying Xi, huh? That name’s not very good. My Yu brought you back here, so why hasn’t she thought about renaming you? Tell you what, I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll give you a new name. You can mention it to Yu later.”
With that, Third Lu began to brainstorm deeply.
What should he be called?
It definitely couldn’t include ‘Bao,’ or it’d be too similar to their Dabao or Baoya.
Still, having a servant at his beck and call was rather satisfying. Finally, he could enjoy the feeling of superiority, walking with a strong presence.
Ying Xi’s facial muscles twitched uncontrollably for a moment. The young lady had warned her–Third Lu had an exceptional talent for taking an advantage and running with it. Keeping her distance was probably the wisest move.
