Chapter 1107: Chapter 1107: Pregnant Woman_1
Purple Summers’s belly gradually swelled, and she finally began to feel like a mother when she experienced the miraculous sensation of the baby’s movement for the first time in July.
To wait for the second kick, she and Alexander Summers lay motionless side by side on the bed for two whole hours.
In the end, they didn’t catch the baby moving, but instead, her stomach growled loudly, startling them both into laughter as they leaned on each other.
Besides the baby’s kicks, Purple Summers’s taste preferences were always changing; sometimes, for no apparent reason, she’d suddenly crave a particular food so badly it was unbearable.
At five in the morning, Purple Summers was roused awake by hunger, staring at the ceiling until, unable to endure the appetite any longer, she nudged Alexander Summers sleeping beside her.
“What’s up?” Alexander asked, his voice muffled and sleepy.
Purple Summers hesitated, “I want peony shumai.”
Alexander chuckled, pinching her nose: “You little glutton, looking for food so early.”
Purple Summers, who was quite temperamental during her pregnancy, frowned unhappily: “Can’t you use a different word? It’s always ‘pig, pig, pig.’ You could say ‘little greedy cat’ at least.”
“What’s the difference? They’re both equally greedy.”
“At least it sounds like I’m more nimble.”
Alexander laughed softly, touching her belly, “With this, you still want to be nimble? Better just stay put.”
This was a bit of an exaggeration. It had only been over four months, and although she was expecting twins, Purple Summers still considered herself quite agile.
She attempted to rise, but Alexander pushed her back, “Sleep a little longer; by the time you wake up, the shumai should have arrived.”
Purple Summers quickly corrected him: “Not just any shumai, and not flower shumai either. It’s peony shumai with asparagus stuffed with meat. Don’t buy the wrong one.”
Then, with a slightly aggrieved pout: “Last time they got the durian pizza wrong, I wanted Musang King durian pizza and they bought sultan durian instead.”
“Being fussy again, are we?” Alexander grabbed her chin and threatened her playfully, “Pregnant women shouldn’t be eating durian in the first place. I let you have it once, and now you’re picky?”
“You’re the one who said I need a balanced diet, so of course, I have to eat a bit of everything,” Purple Summers turned her head away, curling up in bed, clinging to her belly, “I want peony shumai, not regular shumai or flower shumai, but peony shumai with asparagus and meat filling…”
“Such a troublemaker!” Alexander was amused but resigned, getting out of bed to dress, “Fine, peony shumai with asparagus and meat filling. I’ll go buy it myself!”
Purple Summers blinked then raised her hand in a victory gesture.
“Feeling proud, are we?” Alexander laughed.
“No,” Purple Summers pursed her lips, “it’s two servings.”
“…” Alexander was truly at a loss for words.
After quickly dressing and freshening up, Alexander and the bodyguard left the house at half-past five in the morning to buy shumai.
Hearing the car engine fading into the distance, Purple Summers closed her eyes to continue sleeping, but her stomach growled so much she felt like it was going into spasms.
It felt as if she didn’t find something to eat soon; her stomach would start digesting itself.
Unable to stay in bed, she got up to scavenge for food, aiming to temporarily stave off hunger.
After rummaging through the kitchen, she found some bread and crackers and was about to head back to her room when she passed by Uncle Taylor and Aunt Taylor’s room, hearing their low conversation.
They both worked in the villa and typically rose early, one to clean the courtyard and the other to prepare breakfast. Around six o’clock, it was about the time they got up.
“I heard someone else received roses,” Aunt Taylor remarked.
Hearing this, Purple Summers slowed her steps on the way back to her room.
Then came Uncle Taylor’s voice: “It’s getting worse… Seventeen or eighteen women have received flowers; there aren’t enough police to protect them all. They have to be gathered together to avoid further incidents.”
“Oh, what about their work and studies?”
“Work and studies? Their lives are almost at stake; who cares about work and studies at a time like this…”
“Such misfortune, causing the madam to be scolded too, sigh.”
“Alright, the master said not to talk about this at home…”
