Chapter 1445: Chapter 106 I Will Show Divine Grace
Anthony responded quickly, jabbing his fingers and holding down the statue’s eyes, preventing it from seeing him. After remaining still for a while, the statue’s eyes slowly closed.
Anthony cautiously stepped back three or five steps before saying, “How can it still move? Your prohibitions are not effective.”
“You got too close, it seems you are quite familiar with the Spirit Warriors, even knowing how to appease them,” the Great Speaker said meaningfully.
“Of course, we were the ones chased out by these damned things. All of Orgal’s subordinates are these kinds of creatures; he has an entire Army of Heroic Spirits,” said Anthony.
The Great Speaker gestured to the statues in the space and asked, “Do you recognize all these Spirit Warriors?”
Anthony floated up slightly, looking down from above for a while before responding, “Some I recognize, some I don’t. The ones I’m familiar with are also a bit different. Did you capture all of these?”
“Yes, all captured by me. I killed those they possessed, twisted their heads off, then drew out the Spirit Warriors, bound them with Soul Chains, and from time to time, whipped them, or burned them with flames until they sizzled,” the Great Speaker said viciously.
Anthony rolled his eyes, “You’re such a sadist. But why are you telling me this? You don’t think I am in league with them, do you? Trying to test me?”
The Great Speaker snapped his fingers, “Being cautious never hurts. If you truly believed in Spirit Warriors, you couldn’t possibly watch them suffer without any reaction. As long as you do not venerate Spirit Warriors, then we can be friends.”
With the Great Speaker’s snap, spiritual flames rose from the chains on all the statues, burning them. All the statues opened their eyes and let out piercing howls. Suddenly, the entire space turned into something resembling a slaughterhouse.
“Boring.” Anthony reached back and pulled out a recliner, leisurely lying down and sipping on a juice.
Minutes passed, and Anthony still appeared carefree. The Great Speaker then finally stopped torturing the Spirit Warriors, “It seems you really have no connection to the Spirit Warriors.”
Anthony slurped his juice, replying, “I told you there was no connection, but you think you can test me this way? What if I was deceiving you?”
“The power of Spirit Warriors derives from belief. Without belief, they lose their strength and self. No amount of deceit would help,” the Great Speaker explained.
Of course, Anthony knew the traits of Spirit Warriors, but this was all just conversational strategy. He argued, “But what if I’m from another hostile power? What if I’m a spy from the Friel Empire who doesn’t believe in Spirit Warriors?”
“Ha.” The Great Speaker laughed, “Apart from Spirit Warriors, nothing in this Void is worthy of being my enemy. The Friel Empire is just an enemy of the Divine Light Alliance, not my enemy.”
Anthony’s expression turned solemn, sitting up from the recliner.
Just like why the Church of Light attacked the Republic of Stellaris years ago; Stellaris wasn’t the enemy of the Church. Atheists were.
The Divine Light Alliance and the Friel Empire are in opposition now, but that’s just a conflict between two forces. The Great Speaker doesn’t care at all. What he cares about are Spirit Warriors who venerate Spirit Warriors like Orgal.
It seemed like someone had said before that the Friel Queen couldn’t defeat the Divine Light Alliance and only after bringing Orgal out to assist did she manage to drive away the invading Alliance.
The Great Speaker believes that the Friel Empire isn’t qualified to be his enemy, which means that those who are qualified must be an existence more powerful than the Friel Empire.
…
Below ground, where the root stalks are, Little Sapling excitedly waved its True Leaves, sending out fervent messages.
Under Little Sapling’s urging, the New World Tree extended a multitude of roots, entwining the root stalks left by the Lord of Life.
The root stalks, which had already lost their vitality, began to slowly revive as the new roots coiled around them, visibly plumping up. When the bark was scratched off, the fresh new layer underneath was clearly visible.
However, the essence of the Lord of Life had completely vanished, replaced by the aura of the New World Tree. Although this new World Tree sprouted from the wood of the Lord of Life, the fresh sprouts had no connection to the rotting wood anymore.
As the World Tree, the lifespan of the Lord of Life is limited. If it cannot evolve into the Void Tree and no more powerful entity coexists with it, withering is a natural part.
Had it not been to witness the growth of the Little Sapling, the old tree might not have chosen to coexist with Ange. Instead, it might have let itself become a part of nature, to wither away with the end of its lifespan. The idea of a plant is just so peculiar.
“Are you preparing to have the new World Tree replace the old one?” Negris asked.
Ange nodded.
Negris expressed understanding. A main plane with elemental balance is very vast, unlike those Abyss Dimensions, which can be covered by a single World Tree. Sometimes a single World Tree cannot cover the entire main plane.
For example, the God of Life, who lived for more than ninety thousand years, could not cover the entire plane and only covered an Elf Forest. Part of the reason is because other forces were wary of it, and the God of Life, with no desire to dominate, couldn’t be bothered to compete.
Yet even without being on guard, covering the entire main plane is not an easy task. The World Tree of the Star Burst Plane, even after several decades, was not able to cover the entire plane due to insufficient life force.
Planting the Tree of Life is easy for Ange, a simple step is all it takes. But to have it cover the entire Prime Material Plane, it requires the participation of all life within the plane, iterating who knows how many times.
Although this World Tree has withered, the dead wood it left behind still spreads throughout the plane. If it can be succeeded by the new World Tree, it would save a great amount of life force and time in retaking control of the entire plane.
With the protection of the World Tree, the animals and plants of the entire plane need not suffer the damages of the Light Disaster anymore.
While he was busy, Ange suddenly heard Anthony’s call, so he reached out and rubbed his hand, and a chest was teleported over.
Upon opening, he saw it was filled with Black Crystals, each with specks of light glinting inside.
Negris’s eyes went wide: “Chaos Black Crystal? Chaos Mist stored in Black Crystals turns into Chaos Black Crystals? Ah, why didn’t I think of that?”
Ange reached out and to his surprise, strands of Chaos Mist separated out from the Black Crystals, converging onto the palm of his hand.
Anthony’s voice continued: “My lord, the Great Speaker has agreed to our trade. This is the payment for clearing the Light Disaster of this plane. I’ve also accepted the business of clearing Light Disasters on other planes. There are eleven Prime Material Planes and twenty-one inhabited Abyss Dimensions in the Divine Light Alliance. The Great Speaker is willing to pay another twenty chests of the same size.”
Ange said, “Agreed.”
While speaking, Ange pressed his hand to his chest, and all the Chaos Mist surged into the Black Crystal at his chest, manifesting specks of light.
“Huh, such a small amount, is he cheating us? All the Chaos Mist transported in such a big chest of Black Crystals, you stuffed into a fist-sized Black Crystal? And didn’t you say you were going to manifest a Dimensional Space for farming?” Negris asked, puzzled.
Ange pointed at the small pieces of Black Crystals in the chest: “Vessels.”
He pointed at the Black Crystal on his chest: “Soul.”
Then he extended his index finger, and Little Ghost popped out, opening its Big Mouth to ‘eat’ Ange’s arm.
“Farming,” Ange said while moving his arm.
“Did you devour the Chaos Mist to strengthen the soul? Okay, you’ve got a place for farming. Anthony won’t do, he’s too slow, you’ve solved it on your own,” Negris said, irritated.
Sometimes it’s not good for the boss to be too capable. Right after assigning a task, others work hard to complete it, only to find that the boss has already dealt with it themselves.
Ange shook his head and pointed at the Black Crystals in the chest: “Plenty, useful.”
At that moment, Anthony’s call came again: “Also, my lord, you might need to project once more. There are too many afflicted by the Light Disaster. I need to bestow Divine Grace, so please grace me with Divine Power.”
