Chapter 35: Injured

There was a magical thing about humans. When one’s mind could not react in time, one’s body would subconsciously respond according to one’s true intention.
Before her brain could process what was going on, Layla had already thrown herself onto Andre’s body.
In that instant, Layla’s mind was blank. At that moment, she did not think about what kind of injury she would suffer or whether she would die. She only had one thought in her mind, and that was to not let Andre get hurt.
The next moment, she heard the sound of the military knife stabbing her body and penetrating her flesh. Then, an intense pain overwhelmed her.
Layla looked at Andre, who was shielding her beneath his body and saw him turn around with a terrified and anxious expression.
Andre was saying something loudly, but Layla could not hear him clearly anymore. She endured the immense pain in her back and revealed a weak smile. “Uncle, I’m fine. Don’t worry…”
Then, Layla passed out completely.
Andre hurriedly hugged the unconscious Layla, feeling infuriated. He turned around and shot the culprit three times, directly blowing his head off.
Looking at Layla’s blood-covered back, Andre had never felt so enraged before!
Regret and rage were bubbling endlessly in Andre’s heart. When he saw the remaining men in black, his eyes were about to burst into flames. He wanted to crush them to pieces straight away.
He raised the gun in his hand and fired wildly at the remaining men in black. A series of bullets pierced through their bodies.
The men in black fell one after another. Andre had actually shot all of them dead by himself!
Upon seeing this tragic scene, Andre threw down the gun in his hand in exhaustion. It had been a long, long time since he had massacred endless people in a blood field.

When he saw the big pool of blood on Layla’s back, he only hated himself for not having a few more arms. He only hated himself for not being able to kill this group of men in black earlier!
Upon seeing the situation on this side, Rhode hurried over.
He had never seen such a terrible look on his boss’ face before. His expression was even worse than when Andre had been injured in a crossfire in the past!
There was rage and hatred in those eyes, but more than that, there was heartache for Layla and regret for not protecting her well.

Andre bandaged Layla up briefly before carrying her to the backseat of the car.

The car sped all the way, but Andre still felt that it was moving very slowly. Right before his emotions exploded, the car finally reached the hospital.
The medical staff pushed the operating hospital bed over and carefully shifted Layla onto it.
Only then did Andre realize that his arm, which had been hugging Layla, was a little stiff due to the excessive force.
He followed the moving hospital bed quickly until the nurse said that the patient’s family could go no farther. Then, Andre stopped in his tracks like a puppet.

He came out into the world to make a name for himself and became the vice president of a company in a short period of time.
This kind of Andre really gave one a strong sense of security, so much so that even Rhode had thought he was a leading figure who would not get hurt or fall.
