Chapter 1020: 1019 Nervous Mo Xiuchen

“Not good.”

Wen Ran instantly rejected his suggestion without a second thought.

Mo Xiuchen’s attractive brows furrowed slightly, “Why?”

Recently, he had read many news articles and posts about women giving birth. Hearing that childbirth was extremely painful, he began to worry–wouldn’t Ranran have to endure the pain twice if she gave birth to two children?

Wen Ran glanced sideways at him, picked up a glass of water from the coffee table, took a sip, and said, “Natural birth is better for the baby. Besides that, while you may not feel pain during a cesarean section, the pain comes afterwards. With a natural birth, it hurts at the moment, but once it’s done, the pain won’t come back.”

Hearing her analysis, Mo Xiuchen’s brows tightened even more.

He was caught in a dilemma; both natural birth and cesarean section involved pain, but one came with pain first, the other after.

“Mo Xiuchen, don’t worry, it’s not as painful as you think,” Wen Ran felt that their roles must have been reversed.

It should have been Mo Xiuchen comforting her, telling her not to be nervous, not to be afraid.

But ever since she found out she was pregnant, she had been playing the role of consoler. And Mo Xiuchen was even more tense than she was, the pregnant one.

It really wasn’t like the big CEO who commanded the business world with such confidence.

Thinking of this, she also remembered the matter of Mo Xiuchen getting angry earlier and turned the topic back around, “Mo Xiuchen, you haven’t told me yet, what were you angry about just now?”

“It’s nothing, Ranran, are you hungry? I’ll accompany you to eat.”

Mo Xiuchen glanced at his wristwatch, then stood up, returned to his desk to quickly tidy up, came back, and pulled Wen Ran up from the couch.

“Ranran, what do you want to eat?”

“Let’s eat at home. When I left this morning, Nanny Zhang said she would make sour cabbage fish for lunch. I’ve been quite fond of sour cabbage fish these past couple of days.” Walking out of the office, Mo Xiuchen’s large hand encircled Wen Ran’s waist, slowing his pace as he led her towards the elevator.

“Alright, I’ll accompany you home for the meal.”

Mo Xiuchen agreed without any objections.

Exiting the elevator, they bumped into Mo Zixuan.

Seeing Wen Ran together with Mo Xiuchen, a flash of surprise crossed Mo Zixuan’s face, followed by a friendly smile as he greeted her, “Ranran, when did you arrive?”

Wen Ran had rarely come to the office lately, so seeing her was not a common occurrence.

Noticing Mo Zixuan’s eyes glancing towards Wen Ran’s belly, Mo Xiuchen frowned displeasedly and said in a cool voice, “You handle that matter. I am taking Ranran home for lunch.”

“Okay,” replied Mo Zixuan gently.

He glanced at Wen Ran from the corner of his eye and saw no change in her expression. His eyes briefly flickered as he stepped into the elevator.

Reaching the parking lot, Mo Xiuchen considerately opened the car door for Wen Ran, placing his hand on the car roof to shield her head as she got in. He then closed the door for her before walking around to the driver’s side to get in.

Once inside the car, Mo Xiuchen was about to lean over to buckle Wen Ran’s seat belt when his cell phone rang inopportunely.

He ignored it, fastened her seat belt, and then leisurely took out his phone to answer the call.

Wen Ran sat quietly beside him, watching his face grow dark and his tone fill with irritation because of the phone call.

After ending the call, Mo Xiuchen collected his emotions, smiled at Wen Ran, started the car, and hit the road.

On the day of Wen Ran’s prenatal checkup, she chose a Saturday.

She woke up early in the morning.

“Ranran, sleep a little longer, there’s still time.”

The person behind her seemed to have woken up even earlier than she did. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Mo Xiuchen’s handsome face smiling warmly at her.

His deep eyes were tinged with tender warmth. As he spoke, he gently brushed the hair from her face behind her ear with a tender, loving touch.

“Why aren’t you sleeping anymore?”

Wen Ran shifted her position, seeking a more comfortable posture.

Mo Xiuchen hooked his lips into a shallow smile, “I’ll go make breakfast for you. You keep sleeping, and when breakfast is ready, I’ll come up to wake you.”

“Okay.”

Wen Ran nodded softly, not refusing anything he did for her.

She knew that Mo Xiuchen was taking extra good care of her because he felt sorry that she was suffering through the pregnancy and he couldn’t help with that.

After Mo Xiuchen went downstairs to make breakfast, Wen Ran closed her eyes again and slept for a while, not getting up until he had made breakfast and came upstairs to wake her.

“How is it already nine o’clock, Xiuchen, what breakfast did you make that took over an hour?”

Wen Ran opened her eyes and saw the clock on the bedside table, asking with confusion.

Mo Xiuchen smiled and ruffled her hair, he had delayed making breakfast on purpose to let her sleep in a little longer.

“You’ll see in a moment.”

Mo Xiuchen’s mysterious words prompted a light laugh from Wen Ran.

They hadn’t finished breakfast when Gu Kai’s call came, “Xiuchen, why haven’t you and Ranran arrived yet?”

It seemed someone was even more anxious than them.

Mo Xiuchen looked at Wen Ran, who was still having her breakfast, and said casually, “We’ll be there soon, what’s the rush?”

“Alright, I’ll wait for you in my office. Call me when you arrive.”

The anxious one wasn’t just Gu Kai; since it was the weekend, everyone had come to the hospital.

When Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran arrived at the hospital, they were startled by the sight that met them.

Outside Kangning Hospital, a large group of people was waiting there, including Gu Kai and Wen Jin, who were eager to become uncles, as well as Mo Zixuan leading Zhou Lin and her daughter, Li Qian pulling along her husband Chen Bin and their son.

If it had been just a few of them, it wouldn’t have been a big deal.

Seeing Qin Mu and An Lin standing beside Gu Kai, surprise flashed in Wen Ran’s eyes, soon replaced by a radiant smile.

Since the wedding day, she hadn’t seen Qin Mu and An Lin again, as they were busy with the company and hadn’t come back to G City.

“Ranran, I took a midnight flight to G City just to accompany you to the pregnancy check-up,” An Lin stepped forward with a beaming smile, taking Wen Ran’s hand.

Mo Xiuchen let go of Wen Ran and walked up to Qin Mu, “Why didn’t you give a heads up?”

Even he had been kept in the dark.

Qin Mu’s lips curved slightly, “You didn’t even tell us about your big wedding, and I just decided to come back on a whim. How could I expect you to pick me up at the airport?”

“You’re overthinking it; I had no intention of picking you up at the airport.”

Mo Xiuchen bluntly put Qin Mu in his place.

Next to them, Wen Jin, Gu Kai, and others had twitches at the corners of their mouths as Qin Mu laughed it off, “If you won’t pick up, Ranran definitely will, right, Ranran?”

As Wen Ran and An Lin approached, hearing Qin Mu’s comment, she glanced at Mo Xiuchen with a smile, “Why don’t you, head back to the airport, give us a call, and then go pick them up?”

“Haha!”

Gu Kai laughed heartily.

“Ah Mu, you think Ranran will take your side? You’re too naive. Even as her brother, Ranran won’t help me.”

Mo Xiuchen was protective of Wen Ran, and Wen Ran was just as biased towards Mo Xiuchen.

Qin Mu furrowed his eyebrows and turned to An Lin, “An Lin, let’s go.”

“Go where?” An Lin looked at Qin Mu with amusement.

“Back to the airport, to call them, wait for them to pick us up.” Qin Mu was utterly serious.
