Chapter 1151: Chapter 1151: Birthday, Why Don’t You Come?
“I flew for twelve hours to get back to the country, and I wouldn’t just leave easily.”
“You think you can say ‘no’ to me here? Tomorrow morning, I will have someone take you to the airport, whether you like it or not.”
“My birthday, why didn’t you come.”
Jasmine Yale looked up, her autumnal eyes flickering with light, elusive and shimmering; she fluttered her long lashes once, casting a tender yet scorching gaze upon Sylvan Cheney’s austere face.
In Sylvan’s eyes, however, there was little disturbance, calm and steady, “If I wanted to come, I came; if I didn’t, I didn’t, satisfied?”
Jasmine Yale trembled with anger, staring into his eyes.
Yes, such irresponsible and shameless words were spoken by him.
Her body, wrapped in the blankets, was shaking, teeth clenched with fury.
Her heart throbbed violently, she was very angry, so very angry.
“You really are irresponsible, you’ve never kept a single promise you made to me,” Jasmine’s voice was shaking, her throat tight, “Is bullying me fun for you? Do you find joy in toying with me?”
“Indeed, it’s quite amusing. After all, I can’t find a more entertaining little white rabbit than you,” Sylvan laughed, devilish and unrestrained, “Did you wait for a long time on your birthday?”
“Wait for you? How could I possibly waste my time on you?” she retorted, her indignation palpable. “I left at half-past six when you didn’t show up.”
“Oh, good for you.”
Jasmine Yale despised his irresponsible attitude, like that of an arrogant scoundrel or a spoiled young master, making her grind her teeth in frustration.
“Sylvan Cheney, I won’t waste my time on someone meaningless anymore.”
“That’s for the best,” he replied indifferently.
Initially, Jasmine had intended to inquire about the wounds on his neck and arms, but at this moment, she swallowed all her words.
He seemed utterly indifferent, devoid of guilt or apology.
Last time on the phone, he had apologized to her, but now he seemed to have forgotten.
To him, she was indeed a little white rabbit for entertainment, tossed away once the fun was over.
“First thing tomorrow morning, I will have someone take you to the airport. Don’t come back to Landon ever again. What’s the point of your coming here?” Sylvan said calmly.
“But my father is in your hands, isn’t he?” Jasmine pressed.
“Hadley Ximenez? What makes you think I’d spare his life? Hmm?”
“What about my brother?” Jasmine held her breath as she looked at him.
“Don’t they all have the surname Ximenez?”
Sylvan’s tone was light and dismissive, but Jasmine felt a suffocating sensation.
It was clear from his words; both her father and her brother had been dealt with by him, without mercy.
“I’m also a Ximenez, I bear the Ximenez blood. Are you going to deal with me too?” Jasmine quivered all over, an indescribable feeling spreading within her like a wildfire, rapidly engulfing everything.
She fixated on his eyes, which were bloodshot at the bottom.
He wasn’t too close nor too far, his slender figure casually leaning against the wall, legs crossed, his gaze indifferent, his face expressionless.
In her eyes, the sober Sylvan was a stark contrast to the drunk Sylvan.
She didn’t like either one of them.
“I’m not interested in that at the moment,” Sylvan said calmly, “Do as you will.”
“Don’t be like that, Mr. Cheney. I’m a Ximenez, your most hated enemy. Would killing me not be doing right by the Cheney family? Since you’ve dealt with my father and brother, why not send me to reunite with them? My mother has been waiting for me for sixteen years now. Why not fulfill my wish and let me join them?”
