Chapter 1139: Chapter 1139: Missing Kindergarten, Missing Classmates
Last time she took Chale Cheney to see Jasmine Yale, it was summer.
In the blink of an eye, much time had passed.
Suddenly, Chale Cheney sat up from the bed and flung himself into Lilac Serval’s arms, “Aunt Lilac, I miss Jasy.”
His thin little face was full of grievance, and his big eyes lacked sparkle.
Lilac Serval was at a loss for a moment but could only comfort him, “I’ll take you there when there’s a chance.”
Chale Cheney didn’t speak anymore; he just lay listlessly on Lilac Serval’s shoulder, silent.
His little head was filled with scenes from his time in Landon, he had loved his first meeting with Jasy the most–back then, they were very close.
Sometimes, Elder Cheney would also be with them.
He longed to go home…
Could she take him back home…
Lilac Serval patted his shoulder, comforting him in a low voice.
Looking at Chale Cheney’s face, a soft spot in her heart was touched; she patiently soothed him.
Chale Cheney was the first child she had intimately interacted with; before him, she hadn’t realized she possessed such patience.
She looked down at Chale Cheney’s face–
He was growing more and more like Mr. Cheney every day, but those eyes, they resembled someone else even more.
Lilac Serval peeled an apple for him, and Chale Cheney ate in silence.
Falling sick made his entire body uncomfortable…
The doctor came over again to take Chale’s temperature and hang the IV.
Lilac Serval stepped out to take a phone call, from the real estate agent.
“Right, about the house across from mine, how much could it sell for?”
“Miss Serval, it’s worth at least five million.”
“That expensive.”
“Yes, very valuable.”
Lilac Serval hadn’t expected Charles Mcintosh to be so generous, to just buy it like that.
She still rented her own place, having to pay rent every month to a Caucasian elderly lady.
She knew, he always lived better than she did.
One of the most annoying things in the world is probably that the people you dislike seem to always live better than you.
So irritating.
When Charles Mcintosh was leaving, he had given her the keys to his house, and she had gone to see it; the house was much bigger than her rented apartment, a standard three-room with a living room, and it was very tidy, without too many complicated decorations, just a few flower pots on the balcony.
A very minimalist style, just like him.
Honestly, she quite liked his house.
It was more spacious than her rented one, more comfortable, and had much more space.
At least there was room for a bigger bookcase, and she could buy many, many flowers.
When the nurse was giving Chale Cheney an injection, the little guy blinked but didn’t cry, lowering his head to watch the needle.
Lilac Serval came in.
Compared to other children his age, Chale Cheney was very sensible.
Chale Cheney often told her about wanting to go back to kindergarten, missing his classmates.
He even said he was the class monitor, studied very well, and his teacher often praised him.
But all that had stopped since they had come to Lonton.
Lilac Serval naturally understood Mr. Cheney’s intentions, but she thought, how heartbroken would Chale Cheney’s biological mother be if she knew about all this?
Although she and her mentor had secretly reduced Chale Cheney’s training intensity and duration, no matter what, the training ground was a ruthless place.
Hurting an arm or scraping the skin was common.
Chale Cheney had few friends at the training ground, and although his character hadn’t changed much from before, he clearly spoke less.
Previously, he loved to chatter nonstop; now, he was less inclined to speak.
Lilac Serval was afraid of him becoming someone like Mr. Cheney or Charles Mcintosh–such men…what good was there in that, really.
After a long while, Lilac Serval went to the smoking room, lit a cigarette, and silently watched the window.
