Su Yanxi’s words made everyone in the meeting room turn to look at the man who was as calm as ever. Yi Yao, who was sitting beside her, was even smitten by him, but she had no choice but to keep her infatuated thoughts to herself because it was work time.

It was almost as if the conference room was silent for a century before Deputy Director Wang broke the silence with a laugh, “So, Ms. Su knows Dr. Lu!”

Su Yanxi chuckled, “Dr. Lu is a famous person. I’m sure everyone in T City knows him!”

“You flatter me. Ms. Su’s reputation in T City should be excellent as well!” Lu Jingyan crossed his legs and stared at her pretty face as he replied coldly.

Su Yanxi pursed her lips. She could hear the sarcasm in his words.

“Um, Ms Su, Dr. Lu is the director of our department… He was also my mentor when I was an intern doctor,” Wang He explained when the atmosphere between the two of them slowly became weird.

As soon as he finished speaking, the door of the conference room suddenly opened, and a flustered nurse walked in, “Deputy Director, bad news. Yang Liping’s family members are making a fuss in the surgical department again. They’re clamoring to see you, Dr. Wang, and Dr. Lu.”

As soon as the nurse finished speaking, everyone in the meeting room turned pale. Only Lu Jingyan stood up calmly from his chair and placed his hands into the pockets of his suit pants. When he passed by Su Yanxi, he even glanced at her and coldly said, “I’ll go take a look.”

When the group of people arrived at the surgical department, they saw three middle-aged men arguing with Lu Jingyan aggressively. Beside them stood a tearful old woman and a young girl.

Su Yanxi stopped in her tracks and looked up instinctively. When she met his deep and cold eyes, her lips moved and she said in a pleasant voice, “Thank you.” Then, she retracted her arm from his large palm.

Lu Jingyan’s expression darkened, but he did not say anything.

“Please calm down, we’ll discuss this matter properly. This is the lawyer we just hired, so…” Deputy Director Chen was frightened by the imposing manner of the three of them. He pointed a trembling finger at Su Yanxi. His tone clearly lacked confidence.
