Aidan Lucas averted his gaze, deliberately not looking at Lily.

“The porridge alone isn’t nutritious enough.” His voice was cool and indifferent, the look in his eyes toward her was ambiguous, making it difficult to distinguish between illusion and reality.

Upon suddenly seeing Aidan Lucas, Lily almost forgot that the two of them were still in a cold war.

Aidan Lucas paid no mind to Lily’s wishes and ordered several dishes to be brought in.

Just like the day before, he fed her himself.

Lily was initially reluctant. Aidan Lucas wanted to put distance between them, yet he repeatedly performed these intimate acts.

Truthfully, she couldn’t stand this–his not wanting her but still treating her with such care and concern.

Acts like these involuntarily made her overthink; she would have preferred him to be directly cold to her.

Aidan Lucas carefully fed Lily her meal, took her to the bathroom for a shower, and even personally dried her hair.

All the movements were gentle and considerate, but Lily didn’t feel the same sweetness and happiness as before.

His care and gentleness seemed all for show; it appeared that all his actions were just to care for a pregnant woman.

Before going to sleep tonight, Aidan Lucas said, “Since I’ve returned, you haven’t sneezed once, has your cold gotten better?”

“Uh-huh, I drank ginger tea and sweat a lot, I feel much better.”

The man coolly said, “Good, keep it up. Nurse yourself back to health these next few days and don’t neglect the baby in your belly. The promise I made to you–I will fulfill it in a few days.”

He spoke as if Lily would obediently recover from her illness and nurse the baby just for another Aidan Lucas.

Lily clarified, “Taking care of my illness and the baby, and the promise you mentioned, are two different things. I’m not doing this just to meet him.”

Even though Aidan Lucas had said, if she behaved and took care of her health and the baby, he would let her meet the first personality to her surprise.

But even without this promise, she would have taken good care of her illness and pregnancy.

“Heh, no need to explain. Those honeyed words of yours are useless on me now. Get some sleep early. Starting from tomorrow, I’ll give you half an hour every day to contact the three kids at home. That’s the promise I made to them. But what should be said and what shouldn’t, you know very well yourself.”

Lily’s face lit up when she heard she could contact the three kids.

But then, the disdain and indifference in Aidan Lucas’s words made her face pale even more.

She nodded earnestly, “Okay, I understand.”

After speaking, she crawled into the blanket, turned to her left side, and turned her back to Aidan Lucas.

Originally, she thought it would be yet another lonely and frigid night.

Who knew that as soon as she closed her eyes, a warm embrace pressed up against her from behind.

The man pulled her into his arms without a word, yet his actions were infinitely gentle.

“I… I want to sleep alone,” Lily couldn’t help but speak up.

Since he no longer wanted her, why should he still warm her with such a warm embrace?

Such warmth would make her unable to forget.

“Stop talking nonsense and sleep.”

The man’s voice was cold, and while holding her, he carefully avoided her tender spots, hugging her even tighter.
