Chapter 23: I’m Your Husband

This realization made her suddenly feel very flattered.

Looking at her wrist that had turned bright red from being rubbed so hard, Ye Anxin glanced at Mu Beiting. “Mister, you have wiped them five times already. They’re completely clean. There’s no need to continue wiping them anymore.”

Mu Beiting didn’t lift his head. Taking out another wet tissue, he wiped Ye Anxin’s wrists one final time.

The strong scent of rubbing alcohol pervaded the car. Ye Anxin placed one of her wrists under her nose and sniffed it. She couldn’t help but let out a burst of laughter.

Mu Beiting looked at Ye Anxin and asked with bewilderment, “What are you laughing about?”

Ye Anxin touched his arm and grinned. With a mirthful expression in her eyes, she said, “Mister, aren’t you overreacting? You actually carry cleaning wipes with you? After all, I was barely touched, so there was no need to use cleaning wipes. Plus, aren’t those people your friends?”

Mu Beiting’s eyes got dark, and he warned her, “Stay far away from them in the future. Especially from Huo Yunmo.”

Ye Anxin asked confusedly, “Why? Aren’t you guys good friends?”

Mu Beiting answered in an assertive manner that seemed to brook no more questions, “No particular reason that you need to know.”

Ye Anxin looked at him with a smile. Not only wasn’t she afraid, but at the moment she felt that Mu Beiting was behaving like a child. He was acting proud, sulky, and adorable.

Earlier, she would have been afraid to see him act like this, and she would have nodded obediently.

But today, he…no…to be precise, he still had those same cold, domineering, assertive mannerisms. However, now for some reason, she simply felt that he wasn’t as unapproachable as he’d appeared on the surface.

When he caught sight of Ye Anxin’s smile, a suspicious blush suddenly appeared on Mu Beiting’s uptight, handsome face. He pursed his lips, turned his head, and refused to make any eye contact with her.

Upon seeing him behave like this, Ye Anxin beamed even more happily. She leaned her head on his arm and rubbed against it. She smiled and asked, “Mister, they all said that I looked like a certain person? Who do I look like? Do you know?”

When she asked this, Ye Anxin felt Mu Beiting’s arm stiffen immediately.

“Mister…!” Ye Anxin looked at him with suspicion.

Mu Beiting had always been impatient. When he saw that she kept circling back to this topic, the uncharacteristically uneasy expression that had been on his face moments before disappeared in an instant, and he said with irritation, “If you ask me that again, I’ll kick you out of the car.”

“Fine, then I won’t ask again.” Ye Anxin obediently closed her mouth.

She hugged Mu Beiting’s arm and leaned her head on it as she said, “Mister, I want to go to see my parents today. I was going to accompany them to find a new house, but I didn’t go because too many things came up. If I don’t go back now, my mother will get very worried. What’s more, they’re still living in a hotel, and all my clothes are there. I have been wearing the same clothes for two days. I must change them today.”

“Let’s have Pete retrieve them for you later.” What his words were implying was already obvious. She couldn’t go back to see her parents.

Ye Anxin wasn’t going to give up so easily. She continued, “I miss my mother, and my mother will become very worried if she doesn’t see me soon.”

Mu Beiting lowered his eyes, and, looking at Ye Anxin’s delicate face, he suddenly said, “I’m your husband.”

“So?” Thinking about it for a while but still not understanding what he meant by that sentence, Ye Anxin blinked as she looked at him.

She knew that he was her husband! They’d only got the certificate two days ago. How could she have forgotten about it already?

She had been talking about her parents. Why did he mention that again?
