The Ceremony was forcibly interrupted, the scene where the Scroll Angel’s head burst open faded into a phantom before his eyes.

Noland Lee’s mind was eroded by pain; endless pricks of agony radiated from the wound in his chest, assaulting his sanity wave after wave.

He heard the howling sound of a sinister wind, piercing and mellifluous, as if bearing a terrifying effect capable of seizing the soul.

He saw all things descending into darkness, the eternal stars meeting their silence, celestial bodies crumbling into dust, the Universe scarred, and utterly turning into a playground for Evil Curses.

A segment of seductive yet despair-inducing whispers played over and over next to his ears:

“Join us, join us…”

“The light will eventually extinguish…”

“Nothingness is the only eternal…”

“Join us, join us…”

Noland Lee’s hands trembled uncontrollably.

He struggled to lift his hands, clutching the black spear implanted in his chest, wanting to pull this deadly object out, but his palms felt weaker and more powerless than ever before.

Repeated attempts to pull out the black spear only made the dizziness in his head worse, and his eyes bulged more fiercely.

“Stab–”

With a fierce upward thrust, the black spear lifted him off the ground along with his screams, suspending him in the air, as blood cascaded down his Magic Robe like a waterfall, quickly covering the ritual array below.

It wasn’t until then that Noland Lee saw clearly who had attacked him.

At some point, what was once a light blue figure representing ‘Escape’ had transformed into a Void Spear covered in tiny black Tentacles.

The black spear lodged in Noland Lee’s chest was just a branch extending from the body of this Void Spear.

As the black spear stirred and tugged in his chest, Noland Lee was thrown onto the ground, and the ‘Heart of Magic’ was speared through and forcibly pulled out from his chest.

“Puh–”

Blood splattered everywhere!

Noland Lee collapsed to the ground, powerless, his right hand reaching high, struggling to extend toward the ‘Heart of Magic’ on the black spear.

The sound of gulping came from within the black spear, and the ‘Heart of Magic’ was visibly withering and wilting.

A tide-like cold and silence washed over him, Noland Lee’s vision gradually blurring, his right hand dropping, and his mind swirling with thoughts of regret:

“Why… why did this happen… where did things go wrong… where did the real ‘Escape’ go…”

Death was closing in, darkness sweeping over Noland Lee’s consciousness.

But the Void Spear in front of him didn’t seem to want Noland Lee to die just yet.

This strange being from the Void Faction floated about a foot or twenty centimeters above Ground Level, moving beside Noland Lee.

It split off several long spears, each piercing into Noland Lee’s forehead, palms, and both feet, lifting him off the ground, then placing him down again, positioning him to align with the Magic Array pattern.

At that moment, Noland Lee felt he was no longer a person, but reduced to a component of the Array, to be manipulated at will.

“What is this monster… doing…”

The pain, seemingly magical in its intensity, made Noland Lee believe he should’ve died from such grave injuries long ago, yet he managed to maintain a very faint ability to think.

The Void Spear withdrew the long spears from Noland Lee, turning to insert them into the Array.

Streams of black smog gushed from the spears, surging into the Array.

The Array lit up with a black glow, enveloping both Noland Lee and the surrounding Air within it.

The Array was activated, only this time, the Void Spear had taken the role of conductor.

Noland Lee’s consciousness was torn from his body, speeding towards the direction set by the Array.

In his wake, the Phantom of the Void Spear closely followed, rushing to the endpoint with Noland Lee.

Noland Lee once again encountered the Scroll Angel.

The Angel had become a headless corpse, its neck and above a hollow void, the cross-section of the wound charred, while the torso below grew fine black spears resembling black hairs.

Noland Lee’s consciousness halted beside the Scroll Angel’s corpse, and a profound sense of sorrow burst from the depths of his heart.

The next second, the Phantom of the Void Spear moved next to the Scroll Angel and burrowed into the body through the wound.

The Scroll Angel’s body erupted with black gas, and the small black spears grew wildly.

A few breaths later, the Scroll Angel was enveloped in a black cocoon interwoven with black gas and spears, and amidst a symphony of cracking sounds, it emerged from its casing, transformed from a headless corpse into a body with complete form. But its face, shrouded in a White Fog, revealed undeniably tainted filth.

In an instant, Noland realized the truth!

The Void Spear used him as bait to force the Scroll Angel to reveal itself, then swiftly killed the Angel and forcefully occupied its body, waiting for the Assassin Angel and Senati to fall into the trap.

He was merely bait to draw out the Scroll Angel!

The Void Spear had Disguised itself as ‘Escape’, all to lure him into contacting the Scroll Angel, and to catch it off guard and murder it!

Noland Lee suddenly understood the chain of events, but it was too late.

The Array ceased to operate, the images on the Array before Noland’s eyes rapidly dissipated, and what awaited him was not the scene of Reality but the embrace of eternal darkness.

After using Noland Lee to achieve its goal, the Void Spear standing by the Array had already killed him.

Such decisiveness, such swiftness, with not even a sliver of desire to make further use of Noland Lee.

Such is the heartless nature of the Extraterrestrial Eternity.

Noland Lee’s consciousness plummeted with regret, embracing death.

“It was I who killed the Scroll Angel…”

“If only I still had the Active Deconstruction Ability, perhaps I could’ve detected the Void Spear disguised as ‘Escape’ sooner…”
