“Flying swords, huh? I really let my guard down because you don’t often use that in battle.”
Wei Cangsheng spoke indifferently, “But Zhou Bai, you may not kill, yet others will still try to kill you. The decision to kill or not isn’t yours to make in this world… And never let down your guard until the very end.”
“Uh?” Christina was slightly startled, and the next moment, she heard the whistling sound of Sword Qi tearing through the air.
She instinctively dodged backward, only to see the spot where she had just been standing pierced by hundreds of streaks of Sword Qi, while Wei Cangsheng, who she had just stabbed with a flying sword, vanished into the air like an illusion. Even the blood on the ground turned into a stream of air and disappeared.
Christina looked towards the original spot where Wei Cangsheng was standing, finding him still there as if he hadn’t moved at all from beginning to end.
Christina clenched her teeth, thinking to herself, ‘What kind of magic is this? I clearly felt that the one I stabbed with the flying sword was real.’
Zhou Bai reminded her, ‘This Wei Cangsheng is no simple character. Do you want me to take over?’
Christina replied, ‘No need! As long as he can’t break through my defense, it’s a wasted effort.’
…
Zhou Bai pondered over Wei Cangsheng’s words and couldn’t help thinking, ‘Can he only see a sky full of demons without a place for the human race? Could this guy be from the pureblood faction?’
He couldn’t help but recall the Heavenly Sword’s hesitations and, sensing that Wei Cangsheng’s identity might be really complex, he silently asked the Heavenly Sword, “Who exactly is this Wei Cangsheng? Is he also from the pure-blooded humans?”
Chuzhi of the Heavenly Sword sighed, “Yes, his bloodline is of the purest among the pure.”
Zhou Bai, puzzled, asked, “What do you mean?”
Chuzhi explained, “His name is Ji Wuchang, a descendant of the great Xia royal family, Ji Wuchang.”
…
Elsewhere, the flames on Christina’s body grew more and more violent. The Red Heavenly Armor was activated to its full potential, and she charged at Wei Cangsheng like a red bolt of lightning, forming over a dozen arcs in the air.
On the other hand, Wei Cangsheng casually grabbed the air and the streams of energy turned into a long sword in his hand.
The Sword Qi reversed, already coiled around Christina’s fist. With a slight deviation of her punch, she missed Wei Cangsheng’s body and released a terrifying shockwave that radiated out behind him.
Boom, boom, boom, boom!
Christina released several consecutive punches with shadows of her fists connecting like lightning and thunder.
Wei Cangsheng, seemingly slower than Christina, always managed to appropriately deflect Christina’s attacks with his Sword Qi, dispersing her powerful strikes into the surrounding air, causing bursts of energy explosions.
Wei Cangsheng said, “Your physical body is strong, your Primordial Spirit robust, both far surpass your peers. But solely relying on talent and brute force can at best make you the champion of a region, you’ll never reach the true apex.”
“Oh? Is that so?” Christina abruptly stopped, looked at Wei Cangsheng with a smile, and said, “Then show me any other hidden moves you have. The warm-up should be about done, and I should put in a bit more effort.”
…
Listening to Chuzhi’s transmission, Zhou Bai exclaimed, “Ji Wuchang? The one who… at the end of the great Demon War, wielded the Heavenly Sword to slay the Demon God? Wasn’t he supposed to have died from exhaustion?”
Chuzhi continued, “After slaying the Demon God, he was indeed gravely injured and nearly died. However, he didn’t actually pass away but was taken by the gods of heaven, falling into a dormant state in the hopes that he would one day fully recover from his injuries and be resurrected.”
“Sigh, over five hundred years have passed, I thought he was surely dead by now, but to think he could still come back to life.”
Zhou Bai, “No wonder, so he’s from the pure-blood faction? He wants to win the debate in Daluo Heaven, pick you up again, and then slay demons and propagate the pure-blood human race?”
Chuzhi, “It should be that way, but Ji Wuchang… is too extreme.”
Zhou Bai, “What do you mean by ‘extreme’?”
Chuzhi, “Ji Wuchang grew up during the middle and later stages of the human-demon war when the Demon Saint disappeared…”
During the middle and late stages of the great human-demon war, the demons were victorious, and the Heavenly Court was breached, plunging the entire mortal realm into darkness.
And after the Demon Saint’s disappearance, without his restrain, the various Demon Kings started infighting, leading to greater chaos throughout the lands.
In such chaos, the common folk suffered the most.
The unrestrained Demon Kings wantonly slaughtered, enslaved, and devoured humans, turning tens of thousands of people into livestock.
Ji Wuchang, who grew up during this time, along with many other human cultivators, took it as their duty to exterminate demons.
He later stood out among the many disciples of the Great Xia and inherited the royal lineage of Great Xia as well as the recognition of the Heavenly Sword.
Hence, Ji Wuchang, wielding the Heavenly Sword, charged to the frontlines of the human-demon war.
With the cultivation of the ninth realm summit, the supreme Daoist arts of the Great Xia royal family, and the empowerment of the Heavenly Sword, Ji Wuchang was unmatched and invincible. He overpowered many Demon Kings and later even joined forces with the immortals to slay the strongest of the Demon Clan at the time–the Demon God.
However, in these countless wars, there was one incident that caused much dissatisfaction towards him among the humans.
That was when Ji Wuchang led his troops to subdue Ying Long, infiltrating the Dragon Palace.
It is said that dragons are inherently lascivious, and Ying Long was no exception. Over the long years of the human-demon war, he bred countless dragon offspring, and his progeny were licentious and brought calamity upon the mortal realm.
When Ji Wuchang entered the Dragon Palace, he discovered that, aside from humans, there were also as many as hundreds of thousands of human-dragon hybrids.
Even though among these hybrids, a large number were treated as slaves and food by Ying Long, innocents among them.
Yet Ji Wuchang chose to massacre all these hundreds of thousands of human-demon hybrids to prevent the dragon brood from spreading and causing chaos in the world…
Chuzhi slowly said, “Ji Wuchang was a warrior born in an era of war, possessing iron will, heartless, willing to sacrifice everything to achieve his goal.”
Chuzhi, “I respect him, but I don’t like him. He’s too extreme.”
…
Christina looked at Wei Cangsheng in front of her, her Red Heavenly Armor bursting with intense flames, “Wei Cangsheng, do you really think I have no means to deal with you?”
She saw Christina form a sword technique with her hands. The Cold Light Glacier Sword unleashed a sky full of Sword Qi, sweeping through all the space within a five-hundred-meter radius around Wei Cangsheng.
Wei Cangsheng countered with his Qi sword, reflecting the incoming Sword Qi with exquisite sword techniques, each rebound tracing a beautiful path that could scatter six or seven strands of Sword Qi.
But the barrage of Sword Qi from Christina was too numerous and dense. Just as it seemed Wei Cangsheng could no longer hold up, sounds of thunder rumbled, and then, to everyone’s surprise, it began to snow in the skies.
