Even though it was two in the morning, the bars along River Yan were still brightly lit.

In a night bar at the end of the street, a dance song had just finished playing. While the DJ changed the song, the dancing men and women on stage had already gone down to the tables to sit down.

The leftmost table at the bar was surrounded by the biggest group of people. A handsome man in the group, with a slightly long fringe and a narcissist smile, said as he laughed, “Everyone saw the top searches tonight, right? I’m Bo Yan’s high school classmate and his friend for more than a decade. He said that he liked a person, but was dumped. Don’t believe him. The people drinking at the side laughed. No one took the bartender’s big words seriously. A young man even said, “If you’re Bo Yan’s high school classmate, I’m Xia Siyu’s husband.”

He had already pulled down the zip of his jacket and unbuttoned two buttons on his white shirt. He was looking at his phone when he heard the sound of the bartender entering, but he did not even lift his head. He just signaled him to bring the alcohol over.

The bartender asked, “Should you even drink? You have a shoot tomorrow, right? Aren’t you afraid that your face will swell?”

Bo Yan did not reply. His fingers that were hanging in mid-air moved.

The bartender speechlessly poured him a glass of whiskey. He even placed two pieces of ice from the ice bucket into the glass, as per Bo Yan’s preference. Bo Yan received the glass and shook it. The amber liquid swayed in the glass, and the ice cubes crisply clinked.

He picked up the glass and drank the contents all in one gulp. After drinking, he stretched his arm forward. His meaning was clear: pour me another cup.

The bartender’s disdainful expression intensified as he unhappily filled the glass.

Bo Yan drank it all in one gulp again and sighed. The sadness between his eyes did not disappear and became even more intense.

The bartender poured himself a glass of whiskey and sipped it. He then started to complain, “Can’t you inform me in the future when you come? You’re famous now. I’m not prepared if you ambush me like that. If someone recognizes you and makes a ruckus, how can I continue my nightlife business?”

Bo Yan lifted his eyes. “That’s it?”

“What do you mean ‘That’s it’? My business here is amazing, alright! It’s two in the morning, and my location by the dock isn’t that good either. It’s already considered good for me to have so many customers, okay?” The bartender resentfully finished his drink. He refilled Bo Yan’s and his own cup. “Why do you have the mood to drink today? Did someone trigger you? Was it her when she said that she would never collaborate with you in this lifetime?”

Bo Yan ignored him. After drinking, he took his chopsticks, picked up a peanut, and chewed it.

The bartender also threw a peanut into his mouth. As he ate, he said in a muffled voice, “Or did the rumor about her from two days ago make you unhappy?”
