Chapter 519: Chapter 331: Modern People’s Surprise – The Giant Clam_2
He had not planned to fish or hunt temporarily on this side, and he would freeze the fish until they sailed back, essentially consuming the freshness of the fish.
His work in the past few days had been to find suitable fishing spots, and he would actually fish only in the days they were returning.
As for the True Mackerel, it was purely accidental, and he treated it as a special case.
Armed with a fish spear and a harpoon, along with a flashlight for illumination, Chu Mingcheng jumped into the water.
Although there were killer whales around, there wouldn’t be any sharks.
But if there happened to be a giant grouper, it would be a pity to miss it.
The water where Sea God was located had a depth of over one hundred fifty meters.
Even if the water was clear, it was not possible to see the bottom, and Chu Mingcheng dived straight down after entering the water, reaching the deepest part in just a short while.
The bottom was dim, illuminated only by the flashlight.
However, as soon as he reached the bottom, he noticed the abundant marine plants and coral, and rocks were everywhere, which brought a slight smile to his face.
The coral reefs and rocky areas were very suitable for fish to inhabit, which meant that as long as the deep-sea fish resources were not overfished, there would certainly be a bounty each time he came here.
After swimming around for a while, Chu Mingcheng encountered several Long-tailed Shore Bream, moving gracefully through the water.
The harpoon in his hand itched to act, but knowing it was not the right time to hunt, he kicked his legs and immediately shot up towards the surface.
In a small amount of time, he had broken the surface of the water.
After checking the position of the Sea God and discerning his direction, Chu Mingcheng swam toward the northwest.
After swimming for over one thousand meters, he dived again…
Nearly two hours later, Chu Mingcheng had finally mapped out the deep-sea fish resources around the coral reefs.
This coral reef area was very extensive, housing thousands of Rat Spots, which indirectly indicated the richness of the fish resources nearby.
Thus, Chu Mingcheng found a total of five deep-sea fishing spots around the coral reefs.
One of them even had a very large hole, about ten meters deep, but it housed a multitude of fish.
Several medium to large groupers, Red Snappers, Red Friend Fish, and countless others.
A single sweep with a net here would be worth millions, at the least.
Actually, just this one spot would be sufficient for Chu Mingcheng to fish alone, and he could fish randomly without fearing the depletion of resources.
However, for an ocean-going fishing vessel, even a fishing spot as rich as this one would not be enough.
Its fishing speed was far superior to that of Chu Mingcheng’s fishing boat.
Just staying at this spot for a month would probably reduce the fish resources of the entire coral reef area by at least one third, or even half, undoubtedly harming the healthy ecosystem here.
Having confirmed a valuable spot, Chu Mingcheng did not idle and continued on to the next site, known for Rat Spot and East Starfish.
The number of East Starfish and Rat Spots was much fewer there, but it was the gathering point nearest to him on the map.
Chu Mingcheng had no better choice at the moment, and he definitely needed to check it out first.
The gathering point was situated southeast of his current location, approximately sixty nautical miles away.
The areas with many Rat Spots and East Starfish were generally to the south, making it feel like moving from autumn to summer, the weather terribly hot.
However, just two hours into his journey, Chu Mingcheng passed by a coral reef with about a dozen East Starfish and no Rat Spots.
Out of curiosity due to the markings on the map, he peered down to take a look.
Immediately, he noticed that the group of coral reefs here seemed not too small!
Turning the boat around, he approached slowly and then circled around the reef. On the fish finder, he discovered two deep-sea fish resource spots.
It seemed he had accidentally found another suitable fishing spot, and Chu Mingcheng was quite pleased.
At least these fishing spots were not far from each other, making it convenient for Zhao Jun to fish in the future.
Taking advantage of the remaining daylight, Chu Mingcheng quickly dived in to explore the fish resources.
This time he couldn’t be bothered to change into a diving suit; he just stripped off his clothes and jumped into the water.
However, when he reached the bottom, he immediately realized that something was amiss.
Why was there damaged coral everywhere?
Many of the corals were broken in the middle, some even uprooted, as if they had been plowed by trawling nets multiple times.
Chu Mingcheng then closely examined the wounds on the coral and subsequently breathed a sigh of relief.
The look of these wounds suggested they had been there for a long time and were not recently damaged.
This also indicated that the fishing spots he discovered were still safe for now, unlikely to be discovered by other ocean trawlers any time soon.
Continuing his exploration, he roughly surveyed both the deep-sea fishing spots and the shallow coral reefs.
This coral reef had indeed been repeatedly plowed, and the whole area had suffered devastating damage.
To return to its original state, it would probably take at least thousands of years.
Fortunately, the two deep-sea fish gathering spots were not much damaged, so fishing for deep-sea fish was still feasible.
This location was something Chu Mingcheng could visit by himself for deep-sea fishing; there was no need for Zhao Jun to come here, as it would be a waste of time.
As it was getting late today, he then used a harpoon to catch an East Starfish weighing about ten pounds to clean his pot.
After returning to the boat and rinsing off, Chu Mingcheng changed into fresh underwear and continued heading toward his destination.
Upon arrival, he found a not-so-small deserted island nearby.
However, as it was deep into the night, Chu Mingcheng did not get too close.
He circled around the island, saw no signs of boats, but he did spot a few coconut trees vaguely on the beach.
