Chapter 368: Chapter 366 Leaving
The droning snores filled the dark outer room.
Jiang Yan glanced at the entrance, where a warrior tasked with sentry duty was wrapped in two layers of white snow wolf fur, sleeping soundly.
She checked the time; it was not even seven o’clock in the morning.
It was just getting light out, with small, sparse snowflakes drifting down, giving better visibility than during the previous blizzard.
She swept her gaze around the room, then tiptoed towards the entrance.
The warrior awoke instantly, springing up with his gun at the ready.
Jiang Yan was almost startled.
It seemed that the vigilance and counterattack capabilities of the warriors at Yaoben Base were ingrained in their muscles.
Seeing her fully armed, the young warrior was about to ask something, but Jiang Yan put a finger to her lips and “shushed” him.
The warrior promptly stifled his words and gestured silently with a mix of speech and hand signals: Are you going out?
Jiang Yan nodded.
The warrior looked astonished for a second, but didn’t dare to ask further, quickly stepping aside to clear the way to the door for her.
Previously, due to the severe blizzard, Ye Qing had built an ice wall at the entrance to block the wind and snow, and everyone used snow wolf fur to make a curtain to cover the entrance.
Now that Jiang Yan was leaving, there was hardly any noise.
As soon as she stepped outside, Jiang Yan, clad in thermostatic warm clothing and thermostatic snow boots, and enhanced by Space, immediately felt the bone-chilling cold.
“Stay safe,” the young warrior whispered softly.
On both sides outside, the snake meat that had been left out to “refrigerate” was now mostly covered by the white snow.
At a glance, it looked like a row of red blood stakes, somewhat unsettling.
“Okay,” Jiang Yan nodded, put on her snow goggles, and started trudging through the snow.
After the apocalypse, the compass was sometimes accurate and sometimes not, so she had abandoned the idea of using the compass to determine direction.
Pulling out the military telescope, she saw nothing but a vast expanse of white in all directions, without a glimpse of any tall buildings.
Jiang Yan frowned slightly.
Although the map indicated that Yunding Tower was on one side of the AS area where it landed, she couldn’t guarantee that the direction she was heading was correct.
Therefore, she could only use the current AS area as the starting point and circle around with a radius of about two kilometers.
If there were no emergencies and visibility remained as it is now, half a day should be enough.
However, Song Haitao had specifically reminded her before that around East Mountain, the weather within ten miles could change dramatically.
A street away might experience a downpour on one side and clear skies on the other.
She feared it was the same now.
While the blizzard here had stopped, not far away it might still be raging on.
After all, though natural disasters were controlled by a Catastrophe simulator, they could still alter due to local climate and environment.
Nevertheless, Jiang Yan trusted that her luck wouldn’t be so bad.
With such thoughts, she had been walking for seven or eight minutes.
After looking back to make sure there were no living creatures around, Jiang Yan focused her mind and took an ethanol gasoline snowmobile out from Space.
Starting the snowmobile’s engine and letting it warm up, Jiang Yan then hopped on.
Hua Bao, who had been curled up on her shoulder, instantly spread out its twelve vines evenly in all directions.
Jiang Yan climbed onto the snowmobile, gradually picking up speed, and as she drove, whirls of snowflakes rose up, and the snow-covered AS area completely disappeared from view.
“Mom, there’s black fog ahead!” After riding for about two kilometers, Hua Bao, stretching out vines and scanning the surroundings, suddenly warned.
“And it seems like it’s getting windy! We must be at the edge of a storm!”
Jiang Yan was taken aback, “Black fog?”
As she spoke, she saw a swath of black, like thick smoke enveloping the white expanse in the distance.
She quickly slowed down and took out her telescope.
“Mom, it looks like a black blizzard!” Hua Bao rapidly searched its previously acquired data from the computer and came to a conclusion.
“A black blizzard?” Jiang Yan’s brow furrowed, and she immediately decided to turn around and head in the opposite direction.
A black blizzard, before the apocalypse, was caused by black granular dust, like coal ash, appearing in the wind and snow.
But in the extreme cold that had persisted for so long, whence could this dust have come?
Jiang Yan couldn’t help but recall the dense black fog they had encountered before heading to Xiangcheng.
That black fog, as if it was being hurled down from the sky.
Was it the same now?
But before she could ponder further, Hua Bao once again issued a warning:
“Mom, there are rocks falling from the sky ahead!!”
