Chapter 1061: The fisherman gains the advantage.
“Is this the headquarters of your Venus Bank in Atlantic City?”
As Cafe Jackson talked to Paul Warburg about their deal, Paul Warburg looked out the car window at a tall building under construction and asked.
Paul Warburg nodded, smiled, and said: “Actually, this building should have been constructed when the Venus Consortium completed its reform, but our boss rather liked the office environment of the Surf Hotel, so it hadn’t started until now.
This summer, we finally convinced the boss!”
Venus Bank was established long ago, but the headquarters in Atlantic City wasn’t significant. However, as the New Jersey Consortium’s influence spread nationwide, both Cafe Jackson and Robert argued, along with others in the company, that Venus Bank should have its own headquarters in Atlantic City, distinct from the Block Building headquarters in New York!
By this summer, Donnie couldn’t bear their nagging any longer, so he agreed to their suggestion.
Paul Warburg sighed; for outsiders, this might just be a tall building, but Paul Warburg understood it was a symbol of Venus Bank’s rise.
After acquiring the Warburg Company, Venus Bank spent nearly a year digesting Warburg Company’s investment business.
Now, Venus Bank has already become one of the giants on Wall Street.
The outside world now says that the new Warburg Company has completed its pursuit of the original Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium. But in reality, only Paul Warburg knows there’s still a huge gap with the new Warburg Company compared to the former Kuhn, Loeb & Co.
This gap is not something that can be seen merely from market value.
The original Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium’s investments spanned various industries, holding leading positions in several, with vast and self-sustaining investments.
These investments could potentially explode with astonishing energy in the future.
But as for the new Warburg Company, their industry focus is limited to Florida’s real estate and finance sectors.
Their influence is mostly confined to Florida. Outside of Florida, the new Warburg Company’s influence relies more on its own inherent influence.
After sighing, Paul Warburg didn’t dwell on this issue. He knew that any business development takes time. For him, the most important task now was to gain control of Florida for the new Warburg Company, just like Donnie’s influence in New Jersey.
Once this plan is completed, they can leisurely move out of Florida to deploy nationwide and then expand into Europe!
When Paul Warburg arrived at Cafe Jackson’s office in the Surf Hotel, he took out a few maps from his bag, including a map of Miami, a map of Florida, and maps of other Florida cities.
Paul Warburg had made some marks on these maps, indicating the current locations of Venus Bank’s land in Florida.
And this land is what Paul Warburg wants!
“Mr. Jackson, name a price for these lands,” Paul Warburg said calmly, sitting across from Cafe Jackson.
Cafe Jackson spread the maps one by one on his desk and then smiled, “Mr. Warburg, these lands aren’t cheap. According to the information our company has, the new Warburg Company likely can’t come up with that much cash, right?”
Paul Warburg replied effortlessly, “As for cash, Mr. Jackson, rest assured. We have already found the funds to purchase these lands. You just need to name a price!”
At this point, Paul Warburg reminded Cafe Jackson, “Jackson, don’t drive a hard bargain.”
Cafe Jackson couldn’t help but marvel that the value of the lands Paul Warburg had marked now amounted to $800 million, and Paul Warburg managed to gather such a substantial fund in such a short time.
However, with Donnie’s instructions, Cafe Jackson naturally wouldn’t sell at this price.
“Mr. Warburg, rest assured about the price. Our company is very fair in this regard, and as you know, we do indeed need cash right now!”
Cafe Jackson’s immature negotiation skills didn’t bring joy to Paul Warburg, but rather made him more cautious, for he understood the situation well.
Originally, in this matter, he was in the position to negotiate with Venus Bank, and now with the Rockefeller Family involved, Cafe Jackson’s confident behavior clearly indicated they had the upper hand!
“I’ve had the value of these lands assessed, calculated by the land prices in different cities in Florida, amounting to roughly $800 million. But, Mr. Jackson, you should know, under these circumstances, there’s no second company in the U.S. other than the new Warburg Company that could take on so much land at once. So I hope your company can sell these lands to us for $700 million!”
Cafe Jackson could afford to be confident, but Paul Warburg could not. He could only hope to guide Cafe Jackson into his own rhythm!
