Chapter 571: Chapter 424: Era Book
“Sapling… a new page.” Chen Xing looked at the suddenly appeared Stone Book, a thought vaguely rising in his mind.
The previous three trees corresponded to the paths of Pet Nutritionist, Pet Caretaker, and Pet Trainer.
Now that a new sapling has appeared, it represents a new path.
Though still incomplete, merely a seedling, it signifies it holds infinite potential.
It’s a blank canvas for one to paint on freely.
“Spirit Fusion Technique…”
Chen Xing murmured, wondering if the Stone Book meant he should create a new path?
But how difficult that would be.
He thought of those skills from the previous three trees, each extremely magical, some even perversely strong.
He had also relied on these skills to step by step lead, create miracles, arrive at today.
And now, it’s his turn to cultivate miracles.
“Sixiang, do you think, since Guardians and Royal Emissaries can merge, can Guardians and Guardians also fuse?” Chen Xing suddenly said.
“Master, I’m actually researching this area too. Theoretically, it’s possible, but I discovered some problems; Royal Emissaries and Guardians can merge because they are already linked by a contract, whereas Guardians and Guardians have no connection.”
“So you mean Guardians cannot merge with each other?”
“I think they can.” Sixiang’s voice paused for a moment, “I once heard in the laboratory, ‘The seed of truth can only blossom in the soil of experimentation.'”
“Master, I believe it’s doable. Isn’t what we’re doing now creating miracles?”
“Haha, you’re right.” Chen Xing sat lazily on the ground, the wings behind him unconsciously fluttering slightly, “What’s next? Do I start cultivating? It’s a bit interesting, obviously just a Beast Tamer, but it’s as if turning into a legendary Cultivator inhaling Spiritual Energy. Do you think the world’s style will be completely changed by me?”
Sixiang’s voice remained gentle as always, “No, successors will hail you as the Pathfinder.”
“Well, it wouldn’t be me but it’s you; if it could be passed down, I’d pass on your name, making you renowned throughout eternity, perhaps even becoming the brightest star of this era.”
In the sea of consciousness, Sixiang fell into silence. Chen Xing closed his eyes, sensing the surrounding Spiritual Energy, feeling many colorful light spots in the air. These are Spiritual Energy in the air? Interesting.
He attempted communication, perhaps Sixiang’s core was too strong; just a thought and it was like pulling a small tricycle with an aircraft engine at full power, the surrounding Spiritual Energy flooded into his body like a storm.
Just like the parched earth being nourished by rainwater, initially uncomfortable but soon feeling delight.
Deep in the sea of consciousness, Sixiang whispered hauntingly, “Actually… I don’t care about fame, just spending more days with you surpasses countless hollow titles.”
An hour passed, Chen Xing opened his eyes.
“So powerful.” Chen Xing genuinely praised, feeling his body’s condition like parched soil being nourished by rainwater, now seeming to attain a complete self.
“Sixiang, you’ve found a remarkable path.”
“All living beings possess spirit, but Royal Emissaries can’t cultivate, having only spirit within without energy; so they inherently have flaws.”
Chen Xing clenched his fist, if previously his physical strength relied on exquisite control to act like a normal person living, now he truly harmoniously attained perfect control.
…
The space before him wrinkled.
The surroundings transformed, as if the colors of a painting faded away.
Chen Xing was first startled, he hadn’t noticed at all, considering he’s in the state of fusion with Sixiang.
But quickly relaxed, since being able to easily accomplish this step’s existence, would not need something so complex to harm him.
Looking around, nearby was a surging dark river, his position on the riverbank in a courtyard.
In the center of the yard were circular ponds.
An elderly man, bent over, left hand behind his back, right hand holding a gourd ladle, stood by the closest pond to him, gazing intently at the pool.
The pool was crystal clear, empty within.
“Water too clear can’t grow trees.” The elder spoke to himself, upon saying, turned his head toward Chen Xing, handed him the gourd ladle.
“You try it.”
Chen Xing hesitated momentarily, then grasped the gourd ladle.
The moment he took it, Chen Xing noticed changes in what he saw.
For instance, initially crystal-clear pools now contained many floating “particles,” and in each pool’s center in the yard, appeared variously sized, differently shaped trees! These pools’ colors varied, some drifted white wisps, others entirely milky white, others dotted with white spots.
The nearest pond’s center contained a tiny seedling with only one leaf.
Seeing the seedling’s form, Chen Xing felt tingling, because it perfectly matched the newly sprouted sapling in his Stone Book, just as if they were crafted from the same mold.
“No fertilizer, trees can’t grow large; the fertilizer’s there, you apply it.” The elder pointed near Chen Xing’s feet.
Chen Xing bowed his head, discovering a wooden barrel appearing unbeknownst at his feet, filled with a dense white “iceberg” almost solidified.
Bending over, he scooped a full ladle with the gourd, then poured it into the pond.
The thick white solid dissolved into water, like white ink slowly diffusing outward.
The elder asked, “Is one ladle enough?”
Fed by impulse, Chen Xing hugged the barrel directly tipping it into the pond!
The gushing white solid seemingly endless, cascaded toward the pond like a waterfall.
The elder laughed heartily, his white hair scattering, “Greedy little one, haha, enough, enough, pouring more and the pond’s over fertilized breeding pests.”
Only then did Chen Xing stop, gazing down; the pool was turned to milk-like, just inhaling, feeling nearly elated to fly.
“Senior, what place is this?” Chen Xing set the barrel down, inadvertently glimpsing the barrel’s dome, noticing the white iceberg within hadn’t diminished a bit, seemingly infinite.
“Haven’t you guessed?” The elder smiled, “Crafty kid, don’t pretend in front of me. Given the Era Book to you, it’s a test for you; if you cultivate this tree well, you’d become the new ‘Tree Planter.'”
Chen Xing looked at the milky rich pool at his feet, sensing it too thick, cultivating a sense of ominous foreboding…
He wished to say more, but the scene around gradually faded, only the elder’s voice remained by his ear.
“Era Book, Era Tree, it is both book and tree. However your tree grows, depends on your cultivation. Keep going, young one.”
