Chapter 2384: Poisonous Plants

As the weather had been quite good recently and Qiao Mei had some free time, she hired some people to rebuild the rooms on the left side of the house. She had two additional floors constructed and also had a big covered balcony built out of glass. All her precious plants were kept in the glass room.

Qiao Mei did not allow anyone to enter the room. Each plant that was kept here was worth a lot of money and was priceless. Even Xia Zhe had to discuss it with Qiao Mei before he could enter the glass room.

It was not because she was worried that Xia Zhe would damage those expensive plants, but because most of the plants were poisonous and had even developed some form of intelligence. Some of the older plants even saw her as their owner and she was scared that these plants would cause harm to Xia Zhe.

Taking the lead from Qiao Mei, Xia Zhe even specially arranged for two guard team members to be rostered to stand guard outside the door on the second floor.

Since Qiao Mei had some free time, she led Xia Zhe to the glass room. He watched quietly from the side as she fiddled with the poisonous flowers and plants. At this moment, she was playing with a poisonous grass which grew out in curly tuffs. He recalled she previously told him that she had named this plant “Curly”.

Although “Curly” looked tiny and cute, if someone touched the furry part of the plant, the person would immediately drop dead from being poisoned. Xia Zhe did not even dare to breathe too loudly, worried that he would scare Qiao Mei if he made any sound. What if Qiao Mei accidentally touched the furry part?

“Not bad, not bad. You’re growing very well! It looks like you’re enjoying the sun. Keep it up!” Qiao Mei said happily.

“Curly” seemed to respond to Qiao Mei and nodded slightly.

Qiao Mei closed the glass lid of the container which “Curly” was kept in. Xia Zhe only dared to speak after confirming that it was safe to do so.

“It seems to have grown a lot bigger than when it was first planted,” Xia Zhe said.

“I think so too. Among all these plants, it’s the only one which can understand what I’m saying,” Qiao Mei said.

Xia Zhe could not fathom how Qiao Mei could tell if the plants could understand what she was saying, but whatever Qiao Mei said, he believed her.

“How big can it grow?” Xia Zhe asked curiously.

Qiao Mei pondered for a long time. “Curly” did not seem to have a maximum length. As long as it was given enough energy, “Curly” would be able to keep growing.

“You can think of it like an octopus! The longer it lives, the longer its tentacles can grow,” Qiao Mei described.

“I see,” Xia Zhe said as he stared at “Curly”.

Qiao Mei immediately picked up the container with “Curly” inside and said, “Do you want to touch it? If it recognizes you, then it won’t poison you!”

Xia Zhe quickly took three steps back and immediately said, “No!”

Qiao Mei held on to “Curly” and looked at Xia Zhe in confusion. She had introduced everything in this glass room to him. There were many poisonous plants that were even more lethal than “Curly”. Why did Xia Zhe only have such a big reaction to “Curly”?

“Don’t tell me… you have already done something?” Qiao Mei asked as she looked at Xia Zhe suspiciously.

“I was just… just curious the other day and touched it lightly,” Xia Zhe said sheepishly.

“You touched it! Did you deal with the issue properly! When did you touch it! Why didn’t you tell me!” Qiao Mei was so shocked that she quickly put down “Curly” and rushed over to Xia Zhe to take a closer look.

Xia Zhe hugged Qiao Mei gently and said, “Don’t be so worried. You’re pregnant now! Don’t let it affect the pregnancy. At that time, I took out the golden ginseng juice and rubbed it on the wound. I’m fine, don’t worry.”
