Chapter 2353: A Blessing or a Curse

The entire place instantly fell silent and no one dared to speak. At the end of the day, this was a matter for the second branch family and it was not really appropriate for Xia Jun to say anything more. Xia Yao coughed and said, “Ahem, this is not a small matter so we should still think about it at length. Let’s not talk about this today! Let’s enjoy our meal! Everyone, let’s eat!”

“Yes, yes, yes! Let’s eat!” Liu Fen quickly echoed.

After the meal, the family members split to do their own things. A few of them gathered together to chat while a few went to play with the children. Xia Fang brought Xia Wan and Gao Long to the hospital for a checkup. Xia He quietly came to Qiao Mei’s side.

Xia He sat by the window and looked at Qiao Mei as she said, “But I keep feeling bad about it. If it wasn’t because I was pregnant, Xia Wan wouldn’t have brought Xia Mo to Country M and those things after that wouldn’t have happened.”

“You’re not a psychic and you can’t control their fate. Besides, we still don’t even know if it’ll turn out to be a blessing or a curse,” Qiao Mei comforted her.

“Xia Mo is not an insensible child. I think she will be receptive towards it,” Xia He said.

“That’s not necessarily true. Xia Mo is currently in her puberty stage. Her mother has just ended one marriage and is about to start another one. Furthermore, her mother hasn’t even told her about the new relationship before becoming pregnant. It’s inevitable that she will read too much into the situation. As for Xia Xing, although she was a girl, she had a carefree character and behaved like a tomboy. Xu Lan often felt that it would be great if Xia Fan and Xia Xing could swap their personalities.

Xia Yue was the one who resembled Qiao Mei the most. He was smart, cheeky and very likable. Even at such a young age, he was sometimes more quick-witted than some adults!

Any other child would definitely cry and ask Xia Zhe not to leave when faced with such a situation, but his children could understand that he had his difficulties. Xia Zhe felt very touched and at the same time, he was very grateful to Qiao Mei for bringing up the children so well.

After Xia Zhe handed the children over to Da Zhuang and Xiao Zhuang, he went over to Qiao Mei and said, “It’s time. Come with me.”

“Really! How can it be so fast! I thought that it would take a long time!” Qiao Mei smacked Xia Zhe’s shoulder excitedly and yelled, “Drive faster! Drive faster! I can’t wait anymore!”

Xia Zhe smiled dotingly. His little girl was still so cute. Along the way, Qiao Mei’s initial excitement gradually turned into worry. She wondered how much of those things she could retain.

“How did you get approval for those things? Are you sure they’re all fully approved? What if the He family gets a hold over us?” Qiao Mei asked with a frown.

“That’s good enough,” Qiao Mei said with a sigh of relief.

“What’s wrong with you? What is it that you can’t tell me straight up?” Qiao Mei looked at Xia Zhe and asked in confusion. They had already been married for so many years, yet Xia Zhe could still be tongue-tied about something.
