Chapter 377: Chapter 377: Meeting Professor Bao
Xia Chuyi thought, “No matter how bad their temper is, can it compare to the Xia Family?”
He nodded, signaling that he understood Teacher Chen’s words.
“Very good,” Teacher Chen said with a relieved expression, “Let’s go inside.”
As they entered the courtyard, unlike other garden villas, the plants on either side were not neatly arranged but grown freely, allowing flowers and plants to spread willfully.
Xia Chuyi’s eyes flickered slightly–it seemed that Professor Bao Jiaye was quite a casual person.
So, logically speaking, shouldn’t he be easy to get along with? Then why is it so hard to continue as his assistant?
As he pondered this.
“Knock Knock.” Teacher Chen knocked on the door, “Teacher, I am Chen Fan.”
“Come in.” After a while, an older male voice responded from inside.
Teacher Chen opened the door and walked in with Xia Chuyi.
“Teacher, I have brought a new assistant,” Teacher Chen said, heading straight for the study.
Xia Chuyi followed behind him, quietly sizing up the room.
Inside, Professor Bao’s home was much like the yard outside–casually arranged and simple, not fixated on minor details.
Entering the study, they saw an old man with graying hair and reading glasses, holding a magnifying glass, closely examining an embroidery piece.
When someone entered, Professor Bao didn’t even lift his head but continued to study the embroidery.
Teacher Chen seemed used to this behavior and directly said, “Teacher, this is your newly assigned assistant, Xia Chuyi, a freshman from the Foreign Language College.”
Hearing this, Professor Bao finally looked up at Chen Fan and asked, “Foreign Language College?”
He was clearly dissatisfied with the assistant’s background.
Teacher Chen, having anticipated this reaction from Professor Bao, said, “Teacher, don’t underestimate student Xia Chuyi just because she is from the Foreign Language Department. In fact, she is very fond of traditional Chinese culture, not less than our students in the History Department.”
“She wouldn’t have volunteered to be your assistant right after entering the college otherwise.”
As Teacher Chen spoke, he subtly hinted at Xia Chuyi to cooperate.
“Yes, I indeed quite like traditional Chinese culture,” Xia Chuyi said.
This was not a lie for Xia Chuyi; in her previous life, under the influence of her Master, she really did appreciate traditional Chinese culture.
Professor Bao looked up at Xia Chuyi, and when he saw her appearance, he paused momentarily but said nothing.
Teacher Chen nodded, thoroughly pleased with Xia Chuyi’s cleverness.
He continued, “Moreover, Xia Chuyi grew up in a rural area and learned needlework from her elders since childhood. She is very talented in this area, making her well-suited to be your assistant.”
“Learned needlework?” Professor Bao snorted, “You mean sewing shoe pads and fastening buttons?”
Professor Bao set down his magnifying glass on the table and said, “Chen Fan, how many times have I told you not to indulge in these superficial things?”
“Over the years, you’ve really not improved at all.”
“Not to mention you’ve forgotten everything I taught you, you’ve also picked up these deceptive tricks.”
Professor Bao’s tone was very stern.
Teacher Chen was momentarily silent before saying, “Teacher, it’s not that I didn’t seriously find someone for you.”
“It’s just that, as you know, in recent years, it wasn’t permitted to openly do business, and clothes weren’t allowed to have any fancy designs.”
“Many people’s skills have declined.”
“Finding someone who understands embroidery and traditional culture is too rare, even in our History Department!”
