Chapter 312: Chapter 312: It’s Such a Pity that Qingran Missed Ah He
Meng Jiahe hadn’t waited long after sending her message before the person on the other end of the screen predictably lost their temper.
Elder Mrs.Meng: “Have you gotten so lofty because of your boyfriend, huh? What’s with that tone of voice! How could you become so selfish? What’s the background of your boyfriend? When did you start dating him and why didn’t you tell us?”
Meng Jiahe looked at the message and let out a sarcastic laugh. Why tell them, so they could see Shangguan Yuan as an easy mark? Or to introduce him to Meng Wangge.
She knew Wange didn’t mean any harm, but sometimes Elder Mrs.Meng’s actions really made her instinctively want to avoid Wange, not wanting to see her.
Shangguan Yuan came over in a few steps, calling to her in a soft voice as she zoned out, “Ah He, come and wash your feet. We’re heading back.”
“Okay, I’ll be right there.” Meng Jiahe came to her senses, turned off her phone, and didn’t plan to reply.
The group queued up at the wash basin to rinse the sand from their feet and then bought tissues from the owner of a nearby stall.
After drying their feet and putting on their shoes, they got in the hotel’s car and returned to the hotel.
The hotel had prepared the meal, a standard of eight dishes and one soup, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables, plus they had been playing for several hours on top of the drive.
After dinner, they felt a bit tired and went back to their rooms to rest.
Mr. Sang Senior had a room to himself, and worrying he might be lonely, Sang Qiao suggested, “Grandpa, why don’t you come and watch TV with us in our room first, and when it’s time to sleep, you can go back to your own room.”
Mr. Sang Senior was about to politely decline, fearing he might disturb the young couple.
Meng Jiahe excitedly said, “I think that’s a good idea, Shangguan Yuan and I will join too. We can all lounge on the sofa, binge-watch dramas, and snack.”
“Yeah, I just happened to grab a bag on the way up.” Shangguan Yuan shook the bag of snacks he was holding. Although he had originally planned to bring some back just for Ah He to snack on occasionally, when it came time to share with everyone, he was ready to offer.
With that being said, Mr. Sang Senior no longer had a reason to keep refusing, “Okay.”
The five-star hotel’s amenities were top-notch, and even a small screening room could accommodate over twenty people.
They picked a recently popular movie to watch, with everyone holding a bag of snacks. Mr. Sang Senior wasn’t fond of such trifles,
but swept up in the atmosphere, he found himself unconsciously munching on several chips and sipping some drinks.
Midway through the movie, the husband of the female lead at the start died, and Mr. Sang Senior was completely baffled, “Isn’t he the male lead? How could he die?”
“Pfft, no, he’s just a supporting character,” Meng Jiahe shook her head, explaining.
Mr. Sang Senior nodded, half-understanding, and continued to watch. He found that he just couldn’t grasp the films of these young people; often his guesses about the plot were wrong.
So much so that he didn’t understand much of the film at all, and even after the two-hour movie was over, he had no idea what he had watched for the past two hours.
The time pointed to twenty-one o’clock, and everyone returned to their own rooms to rest.

The next day when they woke up, they went according to the planned itinerary to that famous Hanfu shop to get makeup done, change outfits, and take photos.
Mr. Sang Senior was a bit reluctant seeing the ancient costumes, “Is it appropriate for an old person like me to dress up like the youngsters?”
“Why wouldn’t it be? Hanfu doesn’t discriminate by age!” Meng Jiahe encouraged him.
“That’s right, sir, you can come over to this rack and pick something out. These are more suitable for you.” The shop assistant also tried to persuade him along with her.
Mr. Sang Senior finally let go of his worries and went to pick out clothes. Since they were out to have fun, they were definitely going to enjoy themselves. Besides, no one here knew him; even if the outfit turned out to be unsuitable, after taking the photos, he could just keep them to himself without anyone else seeing them.
While Mr. Sang Senior was picking out clothes, Sang Qiao had already changed into an ethereal Hanfu. Coupled with the makeup artist’s superb hair-styling skills and a touch of light makeup, she looked incredibly beautiful.
“Qiaoqiao, you look so beautiful in this!” Meng Jiahe exclaimed sincerely from the heart, then eagerly grabbed her own set and headed for the fitting room.
Her hurried and eager demeanor made everyone laugh.
“Ah He is always so impatient,” Mr. Sang Senior remembered that when Ah He was little, she would do things in a rush too, in stark contrast to her family’s Qiaoqiao who was always calm and measured.
At the time, he had thought to himself that these two children were well-suited to be friends.
Now, without realizing it, both children had grown up and were about to get married.
…
After lingering in the Hanfu store for a while, they headed for their next destination.
Taking Grandpa Sang fishing was like bringing him back to his youth, something he used to do when he was young but hadn’t done for a long time.
He sat quietly alone in a corner, leisurely enjoying the time.
The four youngsters knew nothing about fishing, so they didn’t approach and disturb him; just by looking at Grandpa Sang’s back, they knew they had chosen the right place.
“I often heard that Grandpa Sang used to like to take the fish he caught to Granny Sang during his courtship. Back then, he was mocked for his lack of sincerity, but Granny Sang was very happy to receive them.”
Meng Jiahe looked at Mr. Sang Senior’s lonely silhouette and felt somewhat uneasy.
She always felt that Grandpa Sang wasn’t just fishing; he was reminiscing about the past through fishing.
“Maybe Grandpa Sang thought that money was Grandpa Sang’s, but the fish were caught by himself, and he wanted to give something he earned himself to Granny Sang.”
Shangguan Yuan looked on without much emotional investment, having been through too many divorce cases and custody battles, having seen too many people weeping uncontrollably in court.
“Yes,” said Sang Qiao, her eyes faintly resting on the sea’s surface, a bit curious about the grandmother she had never met, who must have been a very gentle and kind person.
Mr. Sang Senior sat until the sun set before finally putting away the fishing rod, and after releasing the fish back into the sea, he walked over to them carrying the empty bucket, “I may have fished for a bit too long, you all must have been bored waiting.”
“Not at all, we’ve been admiring the scenery just now,” Meng Jiahe laughed.
“Yes, the sunset is especially beautiful at this moment,” Shangguan Yuan cooperated very well.
“I was just watching Qiaoqiao,” Si Chenli’s lips curled into a light laugh, his dark eyes turning to Sang Qiao at his side.
Sang Qiao: “…” How corny.
“Don’t start feeding us dog food,” Shangguan Yuan said nonchalantly as he took Meng Jiahe’s hand and interlocked their fingers.
Meng Jiahe struggled fiercely to pull her hand back; she had been watching him for many days, and if he had no shame, she still did!
“Ha ha ha,” Mr. Sang Senior watched this scene with amusement and said nothing.
Both children had met good partners, and he decided to be happy for them in his heart.
Then he thought of his four sons and couldn’t help but sigh, especially Qingran, what a pity it was to miss out on a fine girl like Ah He.
