Chapter 308: Chapter 308: I’ve Been a Monk for a Week
Sang Qiao compared various coastal cities and attractions and finally settled on a few good places to go, planning to seek Grandpa Sang and Ah He’s advice when the time came.
She stood up, stretched her lazy waist, and walked upstairs, yawning continuously.
When she returned to her room, she suddenly remembered something and turned her head to look at the man behind her, “I’m not ‘opening for business’ today.”
After dropping this remark, she pulled up the comforter, intending to go to sleep, but someone held onto a corner of the comforter with a large hand–Si Chenli’s dark eyes carried a bit of a grievance.
“Qiaoqiao, I have already spent a week as a celibate monk.”
Sang Qiao: “…” She really wanted to pretend to be dead, but Si Chenli’s pitiable gaze looked at her as if she had committed a great sin.
She tugged on the comforter, silently refusing.
Si Chenli still gripped the comforter in a silent protest, the two of them locked in a stare-off for a while.
Eventually, Sang Qiao compromised, “Alright, come on.”
“Okay,” Si Chenli’s Adam’s apple bobbed.

At the crack of dawn, Sang Qiao was bouncing off to the company again, feeling a bit tired, but otherwise all was well.
When she hurried to the company, she went straight to Ah He’s office, pushed the door, and walked in to see that next to Ah He’s office was an added desk.
“What’s this?”
“It’s Shangguan Yuan’s. He insisted on moving in here to share the office with me,” Meng Jiahe said with a blush. Shangguan Yuan wasn’t there anyway, so she could make things up as she went along.
She would definitely not tell Qiaoqiao that it was her own insistent idea for Shangguan Yuan to move in, mainly for the purpose of chatting when there was nothing to do and, most importantly, she wouldn’t need to worry about snacks with Shangguan Yuan around.
Sang Qiao: “…”
“I’m here to ask if you’d like to go on a trip to a seaside city for a while?”
“Are you and Si Chen going?” Meng Jiahe asked curiously since Qiaoqiao had never had the desire to play around before.
It must be Boss Si’s idea, she surmised.
“And Grandpa, he wants you and Shangguan Yuan to go too, the more the merrier,” Sang Qiao said casually, moving to sit down in a chair behind her.
She could actually feel that Grandpa Sang was worried about her being bored and wanted to call more familiar faces.
“Sure, let’s go. I haven’t had a chance to travel despite working for so long,” Meng Jiahe agreed very readily.
“I’ve picked a few cities, take a look,” Sang Qiao said as she showed her the list of cities she had saved on her phone from yesterday.
She had written detailed information about the temperature in each place and the tourist attractions, etc.
Meng Jiahe was dazzled by the options, feeling they were all similar. Being indecisive, she couldn’t choose at all and awkwardly said, “How about letting Grandpa Sang choose? I think any of these places would be fine.”
“Okay, then I’ll send it to Grandpa later and confirm the location with you.”
“Alright.” Sang Qiao nodded, ready to leave.
Suddenly, a small head peeked in from outside the office door, Chen Ling cautiously asked.
“Sister Ah He, I’ve just finished editing a draft, could you take a look for me? If there’s no issue, I’ll send it like this. Sister Qiao, you’re here too.”
“Sure, bring it in and let me have a look,” Meng Jiahe said, looking at Chen Ling dressed in women’s clothing, which she wasn’t quite used to, but had to admit was pretty.
Chen Ling really had a face that was a hit with everyone, like a little puppy when dressed as a boy and like the girl next door, pure and cute, now that she had switched back to women’s clothing.
Sang Qiao’s gaze also lingered on Chen Ling for a while, “Very pretty.”
“Thank you, Sister Qiao,” Chen Ling replied, feeling somewhat awkward under their gazes. She was used to disguising herself as a guy and now suddenly switching back to women’s clothing felt strangely weird.
Especially under the scrutiny of her superiors, it made her walk awkwardly, with her feet turning inward.
Her left and right feet were uncoordinated to the point of almost tripping and falling.
“Pff, Chen Ling, have you forgotten how to walk just because you switched back to women’s attire?” Meng Jiahe couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing as she slapped the desk upon witnessing this scene.
Sang Qiao also tugged at the corner of her mouth and quietly shifted her gaze away.
“A little unaccustomed,” Chen Ling scratched her head, her face flushed red.
She opened her phone to the page with the edited draft and laid it on the table.
Meng Jiahe’s eyes scanned over the long text, “I’m sorry for disguising as a male to join a boy group because I needed money and was confused. I apologize to everyone here and promise such actions will not be repeated.”
Meng Jiahe felt indifferent about the plain apology, “That works, send it.”
“Okay.” Chen Ling retrieved her phone and immediately clicked to send the post. Since arriving, she had garnered a lot of fans, and the recent exposure of her situation only increased her popularity.
Although most of the attention was negative, it still meant people followed her. Her post had barely gone out when a flood of comments poured in.
“Big sis, are you playing with us here? We thought you had your reasons, but it turns out to be just for money. If you’re short on cash, why didn’t you sell something instead of deceiving the audience’s emotions? What is this supposed to mean!”
“The comment above is a bit harsh, but I can understand the sentiment. After all, Chen Ling’s actions are indeed hard to swallow.”
“I don’t accept this apology. Your need for money is none of our business; why did you take out a high-interest loan? Don’t tell us it was a foolish youth mistake, that’s your problem, why should we pay for your mistake?”
“Exactly, such insincere words, trying to fob us off, truly disgusting.”
“Now she’s signed with Rose Entertainment. I guess we can expect to see her offending our sights often from now on.”
“This comment section has revealed everyone’s ruthless side. High-interest loans truly aren’t something a normal person can afford to pay back, with interest constantly rolling. Chen Ling is quite pitiable, but she did indeed go wrong, foolishly taking out high-interest loans.”
Chen Ling, looking at the comments, felt no sensation, as she predicted the scorn and insults she would face when she chose to enter the entertainment industry.
She wasn’t afraid of being exposed online; she only feared that Sister Ah He and Sister Qiao might give up on her because of her reputation.
However, there was no hiding the public sentiment from them.
So she honestly admitted, “Sister Qiao, Sister Ah He, my post has not had any positive effect after sending it.”
“That’s normal, we can only do this for now. I’ll send resources to your email later; don’t look at the online messages, focus on your filming,” Meng Jiahe advised, sighing.
She had guessed this much; after all, netizens are not easy to fool. Without a reasonable explanation, they certainly wouldn’t let Chen Ling off lightly.
“Okay, thank you, Sister Ah He,” Chen Ling felt much more reassured.
As long as she had resources, nothing else mattered.
She had already endured the toughest times, being scolded a few times was nothing to her.
After Chen Ling left, Sang Qiao also said her goodbyes, “I’m heading back to my office too.”
“Sure, I’ll come up and find you later,” Meng Jiahe nodded, planning to finish her tasks first.
