Chapter 292: Chapter 292: Sang Nanfeng: I Didn’t Play Any Tricks
“Siyan, even if you’ve completely lost faith in me, what do you think I’m capable of doing in my current state?”
Sang Nanfeng forced a bitter smile, his clothes not having been changed in a week, his hair unkempt and in disarray, making him look quite wretched and carrying with him a foul odor.
Indeed, Sang Siyang couldn’t think of what his older brother could do in such a state.
Penniless and like a rat crossing the street.
Sang Siyang didn’t leave but instead squatted next to his older brother, “I’ll keep watching over you until Qiaoqiao comes out.”
“You’re free to do as you please,” Sang Nanfeng said indifferently, having already made all the arrangements that needed to be made.
As Sang Siyang squatted there, the sour stench continuously flooding his nostrils caused him to furrow his brows, subtly shifting his position and turning his head to look out the window.
“I’m quite surprised you dare to go out looking like this, considering how much you used to care about appearances.”
Sang Nanfeng’s mouth twitched slightly; he naturally picked up on his younger brother’s disdain in the words, but didn’t bother to explain. Face was, to him now, the most useless thing.
If he didn’t make himself look miserable, how could he deceive everyone’s eyes?
A while later, the two watched as Sang Qiao strode toward the hospital ward, each deep in thought.
However, before Sang Qiao could step in, a voice suddenly stopped her, “Qiaoqiao, you can’t go in there, the hypnotist might have been bought off.”
Mrs. Sang’s appearance disrupted the originally ongoing process, causing Sang Qiao to subconsciously step out of the ward, the receptionist behind her couldn’t help but frown.
“Young Madam Si, my teacher’s reputation isn’t so easily tarnished. Are you really willing to give up this consultation over some woman’s nonsense?”
“Qiaoqiao, I’m not lying to you. I saw Sang Nanfeng transfer a large sum of money. In his current situation, isn’t it strange that he’d transfer funds for another matter instead of solving his major problems first? And he’s arranged guards around the nearby consultation rooms; I heard it with my own ears this morning.”
Mrs. Sang’s voice trembled, unable to control the nervous tension throughout her body–she was afraid Qiaoqiao wouldn’t believe her.
“I will look into this matter. Qiaoqiao, let’s go home first,” Si Chenli strode over to Sang Qiao’s side, taking her hand, unwilling to let her go in for the consultation.
Regardless of the veracity of Mrs. Sang’s words, he dared not gamble with Qiaoqiao’s safety.
“You tell me, is what Mom said true?” Sang Siyang grabbed his older brother’s collar from behind the corner wall, incredulous that his brother continued to harbor ulterior motives.
Sang Siyang’s voice also revealed their presence, as the corridor outside the hypnotist’s office was quiet, his words ringing out loud and clear.
“Nanfeng? Siyang?” Mrs. Sang peered around, seeing the two men at the corner.
Sang Siyang didn’t bother hiding and instead dragged his older brother out, “Brother, explain yourself to them. Don’t compound the mistakes.”
“I haven’t tampered with anything. The money was transferred solely for hiring guards to ensure Qiaoqiao’s safety, as Mom has never wanted Qiaoqiao to be well, not for just a day or two,” Sang Nanfeng said, his expression unchanged.
He wasn’t always this ruthless to his kin, but his plan was on the verge of success, and Mother had to interfere, which he could not tolerate.
Since they wouldn’t let him be, he wouldn’t let them be at ease either.
“I haven’t, I was ill before. I haven’t hurt Qiaoqiao before, and I won’t in the future. I’m taking medication, I will get better, I’ll strive to be a good mother…”
Mrs. Sang looked at Sang Qiao with red-rimmed eyes. That was the daughter she had carried for ten months. She had loved her, only she had become depressed back then, but nobody noticed.
Mrs. Sang couldn’t fathom why her illness had to be so wretched. Rather than tormenting herself, it compelled her to vent her misfortune onto others.
She would have preferred the harm to be upon herself.
“Qiaoqiao, no matter how things really are, I will find out the truth and give you the answer, but regarding the hypnotist… for safety, you better find another one.”
Sang Siyang didn’t trust his older brother, nor did he want Qiaoqiao to experience being hypnotized again.
“Okay.” Sang Qiao’s gaze swept over the people in front of her, revealing nothing, her expression calm.
Yet it frightened Mrs. Sang, who subconsciously felt that Qiaoqiao didn’t trust her and was blaming her for being meddlesome again, “Qiaoqiao, I really didn’t lie, I didn’t want to stop you from regaining your memory, you believe me.”
“Excuse me.” Sang Qiao’s clear eyes were cold; she didn’t directly answer the question but instead took Si Chenli’s hand and unabashedly brushed past Mrs. Sang.
Mrs. Sang tried to grasp Sang Qiao’s hand, but it slipped away, and her eyes reddened.
She staggered backward, her legs giving out. Sang Siyang reached out to hold his mother, “Mom, go home. I’ll take care of the rest.”
“Qiaoqiao doesn’t believe me, right?” Mrs. Sang clutched Sang Siyang’s arm, her voice breaking with tears.
“I don’t know, and it doesn’t matter.” Sang Siyang looked down, feeling pained to see his mother this way, because, after all, he had never been short of love in his childhood.
In this dysfunctional family, he and his older brother were the luckiest…
“How can it not matter, it’s very important…” Tears streamed down Mrs. Sang’s cheeks.
Sang Siyang turned his face away, “It’s not important to Qiaoqiao.”
“It’s not important to Qiaoqiao…” Mrs. Sang murmured, feeling a terrible unrest within her. What should she do…
“Just go home. Whatever we couldn’t provide for Qiaoqiao, Si Chenli will make up for it in full. She doesn’t need us anymore.”
“But… but…”
“Mom, you’ve never had a moment of softness towards Qiaoqiao, and you know she won’t be soft on you either. Seeing her happy is all we can do now.”
Sang Siyang’s voice was gentle but each word firmly reached Mrs. Sang’s ears.
“Okay… I’ll go home.” Mrs. Sang sniffled and turned her face away, looking at Sang Nanfeng, she pushed him, “If you try to harm Qiaoqiao again, I won’t let you off,”
Sang Nanfeng, caught off guard, fell to the ground. He laughed sarcastically, “Mom, are you planning to send me away like you did with Qiaoqiao–then give everyone a heinous reason?”
These words instantly provoked Mrs. Sang; she clenched her fists and furiously beat Sang Nanfeng.
“Shut up, I didn’t…”
“Big brother! Stop provoking Mom. From now on, I will be watching over every dividend and expense of the Sang Family that involves you. Don’t push me.”
Sang Siyang looked down at Sang Nanfeng from a height, for the first time feeling an unwillingness to acknowledge his older brother.
Leaving behind those words, Sang Siyang took his mother’s hand and left without hesitation.
“Hahahaha.” Sang Nanfeng, filthy and with greasy hair plastered to his scalp, didn’t feel any shame but laughed out loud instead. After all he had done, considering everyone else’s needs, was there really no one who understood his intentions?
