“Just now on the phone, he was woken up by your noise and seemed very annoyed, but he didn’t get angry,” Sang Qiao honestly shared the reason for her misunderstanding. Their tone of conversation on the phone didn’t sound like the way friends talk; instead, it resembled a couple in the throes of a passionate romance.

Meng Jiahe thought it over carefully, and it did seem like Shangguan Yuan really had just woken up and was grumpy.

Previously, when he was woken up by the housekeeper, he immediately fired her. His face was incredibly sour at that moment, and his tone of speech was even worse, almost making the young girl cry.

She herself had disturbed his sleep on several occasions, but he never lost his temper.

She shook her head. No, no, no, she couldn’t be swayed by Qiaoqiao. She and Shangguan Yuan were clearly like siblings!

“I think you’ve gotten it wrong. Whether they are a couple or not can’t always be inferred from their tone. Before, your interactions with Boss Si didn’t seem much like those of a couple either. Maybe… it’s just that everyone has their own way of interacting?”

“I’ll walk you down,” Meng Jiahe stood up and followed her downstairs.

She felt restless until she saw Boss Si and Qiaoqiao leave together; who knew if Sang Nanfeng would cook up some other mischief.

Her imagination even absurdly ventured to the idea of Sang Nanfeng turning into a fly, swooping in to kidnap Qiaoqiao.

At that thought, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Sang Qiao stopped and turned back to look at Ah He, somewhat puzzled by the laughter.

“Come on, let’s go downstairs,” Meng Jiahe quickly composed herself and walked down arm in arm with Qiaoqiao.

Just coming out of the elevator, they saw the tall figure standing in the center of the lobby.

She quietly let go of her hand and stood by the elevator doors. Sang Qiao turned to say goodbye, “Ah He, I’ll be going then.”

“Alright.” Meng Jiahe nodded, watched them leave the company side by side, and then stepped into the elevator.

Si Chenli led the way to the car and opened the door, Sang Qiao’s long legs disappearing beyond it, and Sang Nanfeng, standing nearby, saw the whole scene.

He couldn’t help but feel like laughing. She was really on guard against him, sticking close to Si Chenli even when leaving.

In the end, Sang Nanfeng did not approach them. Leaning against the wall, thoughts of his bankrupt company and his current disheveled state left him feeling utterly numb.

All he had ever yearned for was a harmonious family and to reconcile with Qiaoqiao–the only thing he desired–so why did reality have to be so cruel?

It wouldn’t even grant him this modest wish. Since Qiaoqiao left the Sang Family, she had been his sister for only one day, the day she stayed in the old house with her memory confused.

Meanwhile, inside the vehicle

After buckling his seatbelt, Si Chenli didn’t immediately drive away. “Do you want to go out and have fun, or head to the Si Family?”

“All good, have you finished your work?” Sang Qiao had no particular destination in mind at first; she simply wanted to find him since she had nothing else to do sitting in the office.

The chaotic memories in her mind made her uncertain about whom she could contact, with only Si Chenli giving her a sense of security.

“The work isn’t pressing, I can resolve it tomorrow. Where do you want to go?” Si Chenli’s voice was low; he had hardly ever taken the young girl out on a date, the one time they did they encountered a sasaeng fan.

Sang Qiao’s clear eyes were fixed on him, “I don’t know where we can go.”

Si Chenli wasn’t surprised to hear this answer; a smile tugged at his lips as they both rarely went out, which meant they had no idea where to go.

He took out his phone and started searching for nearby tourist attractions, date spots, and the like.

“I’ll look it up online.”

“Okay.” Sang Qiao leaned over to the uninteresting screen when suddenly an advertisement caught her eye, “Forget pain with just one sleep, top Hypnotist Kaka awaits your appointment~”

Sang Qiao pointed at the advertisement, “This… is it real?”

“You want to find a Hypnotist?” Si Chenli’s fingers paused on his phone, and he turned to look at her.

He didn’t think the memory-confused Qiaoqiao still had anything she needed to forget.

Sang Qiao didn’t think they had anything to hide from each other; they were already close, so she told him everything she and Meng Jiahe had deduced.

“After Ah He and I analyzed it…”

After hearing all this, Si Chenli’s brows slightly furrowed, and he began to have doubts, “I’ll have it investigated.”

“Okay.” Sang Qiao nodded without hurry; they reviewed many travel guides for destinations but in the end, none piqued their interest, so they went home.

She sat on the sofa watching a drama while Si Chenli sat next to her, the two of them seemingly like an old married couple.

As they were engrossed in an exciting scene, the butler came in from outside, respectfully saying, “Young Madam Si, there’s someone at the door for you, claiming to be your father. He says he has news you’ll want to know.”

“Have him leave.” Sang Qiao turned her head without any intention of going out.

From the way things had played out last time, it was clear Sang Zheng was no good; she couldn’t believe much of what he said, better not to listen at all.

“Yes,” the butler replied, without hesitation leaving to convey the message.

It wasn’t long after the butler left that Sang Qiao’s phone rang with a prolonged tone, an unfamiliar incoming call. Its timing made her suspect it might be Sang Zheng’s number.

However, wanting to make sure she didn’t miss out on any call, she casually picked it up.

“Sang Qiao, Lu Jiao and I are right outside, hurry up and come out to meet us. Don’t let your brothers deceive you.”

Originally, Sang Zheng wasn’t inclined to bother with whether Sang Qiao reconciled with his sons or not, but Lu Jiao insisted he come to Sang Qiao, claiming that they couldn’t let the sons have an easy time.

Now, being under Lu Jiao’s wing, what could he say when she was adamant about it?

Yet, there was no reply on the other end of the call; the line was abruptly disconnected.

Sang Zheng couldn’t believe it and took the phone from his ear, seeing the ended call screen, he was almost ready to curse someone out.
